We stayed in Balthazar Hotel on New Year's Eve. Nice walking distance from almost every attraction in Krakow makes it a wonderful spot for anybody visiting the city. In addition, we booked New Year's Eve dinner in the hotel's restaurant Fiorentina. The room was spacious, comfortable, with a large screen capable of receiving video streams from Netflix or other applications. The design of the rooms and the common areas is a subjective thing, but all-in-all it wasn't overwhelming or tiring. I think they managed to find a balance between "design" and "functionality". There is iron with an ironing board, a hair blower, floor heating in the bathroom and absolutely the fastest Internet connection we have ever experienced in any hotel - in the range of 100MBit download and upload on a mobile device. The staff was kind enough to let us in an hour before the check-in, which was very appreciated.

The hotel claims to have 5 stars, which is definitely reflected in its price. But we experienced a blackout (no electricity in a few rooms), a blocked key card (happened twice) and a leaking toilet tank (had to be pressed twice to stop running water, which was reported to the hotel). So many problems never happened to us in similar or lower-standard hotels. The close vicinity of a busy touristic street (Grodzka) and windows which were only double glazed allowed us to hear lots of outside noises (certainly New Year's Eve fireworks were very loud, but we could hear lots of other noises). Definitely not for light sleepers. Also, the restaurant, Fiorentina, despite many appraisals and recommendations was not quite to the standard we expected. The staff appeared to be very stressed, the portions were smaller than in comparable places we dined in Krakow and elsewhere and the wines were "correct", not outstanding. We also can't recommend the breakfast in the hotel - it's definitely overpriced for what it offers (some pieces of ham, cheese slices, pears and melon). We expected at least some smoked fish and some regional delicacies in addition to the very good bread the restaurant offers.

Beautiful hotel with exceptional staff, super location , breakfast was lovely and breakfast staff amazing. Rooms beautifully clean and receptionists all super helpful. This hotel is a little diamond .

We just felt the hotel needed a comfy sofa area to sit and chat with friends after a day out touring around the city. Somewhere where we could enjoy a drink together and chill out. Also the air conditioning units outside our bedroom window were noisy through the night. The view from our room was meant to be over the courtyard but I think we got the back of the kitchen store.

The decor, the delightful staff, the location, a really fabulous boutique hotel with a fabulous restaurant.

Only 3 criticisms: 1. The towels were tiny (I am a slight 5’3’’ woman, and they were tiny on me!) 2. There was only one pillow on the bed, another would have been perfect 3. The air on couldn’t be set below 19 degrees which was too hot at night

Le petit déjeuner servi à l’assiette. Au bout de plusieurs jours cela devient routinier. Par contre le personnel de la restauration est très professionnel

The hotel was exceptional, everything from location, the decor, the room and the team. The resteraunts they suggest were outstanding and for the quality of the food very reasonably priced. Pub food prices for top quality.

If I am being picky the shower head could have been better.
