Denis, the Manager simple goes above and beyond to make your stay perfect, very warm & welcoming.

Denis, the Manager just goes above and beyond to ensure your stay is perfect. He knows every one of his guests by name and is so very warm and welcoming. Best personalised customer service I have EVER encountered in a hotel. He catered to our request for additional and firm pillows, and went so far as to buy my 10 yo daughter a cake and give her a free soft drink. When we returned by Uber at the end of a long day out, Denis was there to greet us. When we were about to walk out in the rain, Denis loaned us his big umbrella. He is seriously the Hotel Manager from Heaven. He just looks after and thinks of everything to make your stay enjoyable. The personalised service is like nothing I have ever encountered and we will definitely be back to stay the next time we are in Melbourne. Thank you Denis.

Not much. The room could have slightly better lighting, and bigger coffee cups, but seriously, everything was amazing. The Indian restaurant downstairs wasn't great and I was sick the next day from eating it.

A fantastic choice to stay

Beautiful grand property in the heart of Melbourne. Staff were so accommodating and were able to help with extra things required by us. Highly recommend

Superb

The room was really big and equipped with necessary electronics (e.g. fridge, lau dry machine) for lon-term stay. The hotel has a pool, and it was comfortable to use it. The hotel is close to a big station.

It was quite Coldingham the room (I was there in winter ) and one couldn't change the temperature

we enjoyed our stay here

we loved the grand old world charm of the facade , the large rooms with soaring high ceilings , the toasty bubbles of the spa , very comfortable king size beds , and the historic railway connection .

we could only stay 3 nights

Perfect stay for the long weekend

Great location for city exploring. Bed is super comfy. Love the loft style rooms.

Wish they would check remotes every now and again - the upstairs bedroom one was flat.

Old Style Charm in Modern Melbourne

Denis, the hotel manager, and all the staff, are very attentive and available to all requests; the room was very spacious and comfortable, well equipped; the location is excellent, the city can be easily visited even on foot.

The room was clean, but it needs some attention to details (corners and window sills, window panes cloudy), the kitchenette could be better equipped; the hotel style is Edwardian, which gives it its charm, but it needs maintaining with modern touches.

Grand style with good location

Good location, beautiful heritage building with lots of atmosphere in well appointed rooms. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Some rooms have lots of steps in them so you need to be aware of that if you have any mobility issues.

great stay and central for our needs.

it’s location is great for getting around to everything in the city & close to Souther Cross Station.

Disappointed that you can’t order in food or have breakfast. restaurant is Indian which doesn’t suit everyone.

Superb

A grand old dame that we felt privileged to have the opportunity to stay in. The original building is nothing short of stunning, a fabulous example of Neo-Renaissance architecture. Our loft apartment was spacious & well thought out. And the pool, sauna & spa facilities were spotlessly clean & offered a great place to unwind. Parking is easy & the staff were welcoming, friendly & helpful.

The apartment was a little shabby & not as clean as expected. The exhaust system in the bathroom basically does nothing, which is not ideal in an enclosed room & definitely needs an overhaul. Overall the positives outweighed the negatives & it is definitely worth a visit.
