We liked just about everything at this property the people were helpful and friendly would go out of their way to help it was clean and well looked after.
The only negative was the heating in the pod is A/C so all the time you have hot air drying the air out all day all night.

I would highly recommend the Rusutsu Pension Clydesdale to anyone who is planning on visiting the area for a few days and wants a true locals experience for a very reasonable rate. The staff are extremely friendly, helpful, and accommodating. They keep this place incredibly clean and well kept. Oh and the food was so good!

Hosts and staff extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful. The pension was exceptionally clean and well maintained, as well as having very charming ambience. The breakfast was tasty and sustaining. Although shared, the bathroom and toilet facilities were always freely available and spotless. The hosts provided very prompt and efficient transport via courtesy bus to and from the resort area for skiing and restaurants.

So close to the resort with a shuttle run by the Pension so you can be on snow in 15 minutes! The meals on site were affordable and delicious. Water pressure is strong and water is always hot. Hot tub is a plus! Having a washer and dryer is so amazing. The full kitchen with tools and appliances is amazing. Morii and Yuko are wonderful, accommodating hosts, who are customer focused and detail oriented.
Paths were a bit slippery to walk on, but it literally snowed for 6 days straight so I can see this being difficult to keep up with. Beds are very firm; I loved it but definitely not for everyone.

Great staff, baths, beds, dry room and great breakfast
Walls are a little thin, pillows are too small and flat but otherwise everything is perfect

Morii, Yoko, and Shun consistently make everything amazing. The house is so warm, clean, and cozy. The pick up and delivery service is convenient, fast, and safe. The drink bar (teas, coffees, etc.) and microwave make relaxing very easy. The beds were incredible. . . EVERYTHING was incredible. This is our favorite place in the world to stay. They are second to none.

Great value compared to staying at the resort hotels. Manako always arrived within five minutes whenever we needed a ride. Our hosts, Murii and Yoke were so gracious and generous.
The three dinners we had there were excellent. We went to restaurants at the village the other three nights. We enjoyed the smaller restaurants as opposed to the ones at the hotel for their authenticity and value. The food at all the restaurants was excellent.
Note that the bathrooms are shared. There are several of them so availability was never a problem.

Excellent breakfasts. Italian style evening dinners also excellent. Don't be late for breakfast or dinner as meals served precisely on time or even a little early. Suggest being ready to eat at least 5 mins before time!
Location was very good, considering that the centre of the ski resort is dominated by two large hotel complexes that squeeze out space for small "pension" hotels like this. Excellent at-call mini bus shuttle service for going to the ski resort or to eat out, and only an easy 15 mins walk home after eating out, if you don't want to call out Manako for the mini-bus when its late in the evening. Rooms and beds are comfortable, if small, but that is as usual in Japan. Nice individual onsen-style spa baths to soak out the tired body after a big day on the slopes.

Absolutely fantastic hosts Yoko and Mori, we so enjoyed the dinners, drive service by Manako was great, location is close to resort, ski area offers perfect variety, the cabin was just right for the 4 of us... and our teenagers loved it!
Can’t come up with anything!
