The 'old world' charm, friendly hospitality staff, nice food, adequate parking.
The Receptionist on duty while I was there treated me a bit like an intruder. She questioned my 'and breakfast' booking, even after I showed her confirmation and a receipt, and told me that she'd have to check. The other staff almost made up for her inhospitable approach.

High quality breakfast with good choices of cooked and continental. Excellent ales and evening menu. Plenty of options to sit in quiet books or more open areas of the cosy, 500 year old interior as well as sunny garden whilst enjoying a drink and a chat.
Just the lights in our room....switches quite high for bed lights and not sure how the ceiling down lights worked.... they seemed to flicker so we didn't use them.

Good location near the High Street.
Room was tiny and double bed and shower room v small. Our room overlooked the road - noisy at night. Room was 'hot' because of the weather at the time. Breakfast served in a small room with plenty of people in it. The chairs were cloth covered and dirty. Breakfast itself was unimpressive.
