JA The Bruntsfield - Edinburgh

Location is very good. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Very clean and good size room.

Layout is a little confusing but manageable. Would have liked a separate shower rather than one in the bath.

Excellent staff. Everything was very good in the hotel. Considering how pricy Edinburgh is, I thought it was good value.

Our room did not have a refrigerator. There was a space for one so I assume they were waiting for a replacement, but no staff warned us about it or offered another room.

Excellent breakfast and nice rooms. The service was very nice, the view pleasant, and the location absolutely brilliant, with a bus stop almost at the door and good restaurants not far.

I wanted a set of non-feather pillows as I am allergic but only got one rather think one. I understand that the hotel had run out of them. It would be nice to keep one alternative pillow in the room for people allergic to animal feathers.

The room was nice and the beds comfortable - nice linen and pillows although it was quite small.

The bathroom fan was exceptionally noisy and I could even hear the fan from the next door room and room upstairs. The breakfast host was pleasant enough although failed to notice my infirm mother in law and tried to show us to a table down steps (she was walking slowly with a stick). Breakfast was poor - on the first day I waited about 25 minutes for two poached eggs and on the second, despite asking for two only received one ! It was a tad pathetic. Also, with only one coffee machine, it was a tad chaotic. There clearly weren't enough staff at breakfast and the tables sat uncleaned for most of our time in the breakfast area.
