The staff were very helpful. Hotel rooms were really nice and we were very happy to have interconnecting rooms.

The didn't have any views and one of the rooms didn't have a window.

The property location was perfect. 10 mins away from Al Haram. Close to everything that you need. The breakfast was great and restaurant staff were nice.

The night shift receptionist, whom I could not see his name as his name tag was hidden with his Ghutra, showed absolute no support.He wanted to complicate my check in for absolute no reason despite giving him my name, my passport and my booking details, yet he did not want to serve me or even try to check the system without a booking number. It was around 1 am, I was tried and had difficulty to track this number. I asked him politely to check with all the personal details I gave him and already provided in my booking , yet he insisted and did not want to check the system. He kept talking with other colleagues and took phone calls while I was having a conversation with him and was standing..That was unprofessional. The room has absolutely zero natural light. Maybe some other rooms have a better view. I thought of requesting another room, but I did not want to interact with the receptionist again

I like that it’s comfortable and cozy. Staff are mostly friendly

Well the hygiene wasn’t top notch. When they make your bed they don’t really change the sheets. Sometimes if you call room service to get extra towels they forget. The structure of the bathroom itself isn’t made for easy access. The floor could stay wet until housekeeping the next day. Could use with a cheaper laundry service.

Excellent food quality and variety at breakfast, location good let down by everything else

If you're from the UK don't book this hotel, it's old and tired, things don't work and staff are blatantly rude (a few were lovely but overall staff attitude was poor). Bathroom not clean, extremely dirty despite daily cleaning, dirty black mirror, flush not working, no hot water. I travelled with my 83 year old grandmother and she is currently unwell due to the lack of hot water. Restaurant food was really good but let down by staff who would rush you and were often rude. Another thing I noticed when arriving at breakfast the guy at the door always asked for our room number which is fine but on occasions an Arab family would be in front of us and he would smile and not ask a single question whereas with us being Asian he would immediately stop us and ask our room number. I booked a city view room and we received a view of the inner courtyard of the hotel, nothing city view about that. I received a phone call on our second to last day from guest relations asking about our experience hence I am writing this review. I went to speak with Mr Khaled at reception, his English is not good so we relied on a staff member who spoke urdu to translate for us. His response was nothing but sorry we will do better next time. There won't be a next time, good luck with that. He offered us our room to be cleaned before fajr on the day of checkout to which I said what's the point we leave in a few hours. No offer of compensation, forget financial not even as courtesy for a future discount on a future booking, nothing. Whilst I was speaking to Khaled another hotel customer came up to the desk making similar complaints about room cleanliness. . Staff are only half invested in this hotel, they do the bare minimum but definitely don't go the extra mile. Do yourself a favour, book somewhere else. Al Shohada Hotel, you definitely made me shaheed with my experience. Change things or stop calling yourself 5 star. Room 967
