Sea Containers London

Very modern hotel. Excellent location. We enjoyed exploring Southbank and public transport/Blackfriars Station were close by. The room was clean, modern and comfortable enough (but see comments below).

Not really a 5* experience in our opinion, despite the high price. We also stayed in a 4* hotel across the river earlier in our trip and felt that that one was superior. We wonder how many rooms actually have a river view, as our corridor, and presumably most on other floors, seemed to run perpendicular to the river. Not that our booking promised a river view. We merely looked over an adjacent building, so no real view other than a partial glimpse of London Eye. The room was quite small (modern spartanism) with limited space for our bags. The bed was quite small, barely queen size. The booked superior room was claimed to have a "large double bed" , so for 5* we expected a wider bed. The Gordon Ramsey restaurant had limited food offerings - nothing special that seemed to reflect his reputation. I checked our final bill carefully and found additional service charges had been added for accommodation and breakfast, but booking.com stated that all charges and taxes were included in the booked price. These extra charges were then removed by reception without argument.

The best things about Sea Containers were the excellent staff and the location, which was perfect. We were able to walk to the theatre, Borough Market, Leadenhall Market and many other places.

In recognizing that London is expensive everywhere, Sea Containers was overpriced. It was nice having a restaurant attached but it didn't meet our expectations.

This was our third time staying at the Sea Containers and it won’t be our last. Our first time travelling with our 4 month old and we were all made to feel very welcome. We arrived off of a morning flight from Glasgow and they had our room ready by 12 o’clock which was so appreciated. They even left a little box of bath products for our baby. As always the room was clean, quiet and relaxing. Thank you again to all the staff for another wonderful stay.
