The Gonville Hotel, a member of Radisson Individuals

Really glorious sunny gardens, magnificent position and beautifully laid out building buildings and facilities. Young, cheery and pluckily unflappable staff.

Insufficient numbers of staff with long experience and expertise, concomitant lack of quality execution at breakfast despite a huge range of menu.

The Gonville is a favourite for its proximity to Cambridge centre. The staff are lovely and friendly.

Since our last visit the hotel seems a bit shabby, tired looking. We were disappointed with the breakfast. To have tea it was hot water from a flask and wasn’t hot enough. All hot drinks are now self service, not a fan of this. The scrambled eggs you could bounce and the sausages were quite tough. I will still be using this hotel but next time won’t include the breakfast. I just think for our £265 one night stay it was overpriced.

Brilliant stay, we are looking forward to staying again in a couple of weeks, we took advantage of the complementary Bentley tour, Mike was our driver and I can’t recommend this enough. We had Alex from the spa - amazing thank you. Brilliant every member of staff from check in to check out were so attentive thank you so much. Really looking forward to seeing you for daughter’s wedding soon.

Location was good.

Having a TV that worked on all channels (All of the free to air channels were so pixelated that they were unwatchable). The Samsung Smart link system appeared to have been disabled. The Air con controls were so worn they were impossible to use. even when switched off the Aircon would, for no apparent reason, start buzzing for 20 minutes and then fall silent. I did this all night. Cannot fault the bed and cleanliness. The carpet from reception to the room was quite "tired" and it made the hallway look a bit shabby. the bar was eye wateringly expensive. Why do four and five star hotels insist on charging so much for drinks in this country. A good selection at the bar and the staff were nice. we did not et at the hotel. We don't do breakfast and there is a fantastic little Italian restaurant called De Luca Cucina & Bar just around the corner.
