The Mavila Sanur

The staff were very kind and helpful. It was nice to have a private pool and a floating breakfast.

I will say this villa disappointed us. 1) the villa is a lot more run down than it shows in pictures, shower head is almost falling off, the bathroom kinda always smells a bit moldy, there’s rust and dents and chips in the walls, there’s lime scale all over the pool, it’s needs to be a bit better maintained. 2) the area is right beside a busy street, which is a bit intimidating to try and cross and walk around and far from anywhere worth visiting in sanur. 3) There was two events held on 2/3 days we were there in the main lobby right outside of our room, which were hosted with a loud DJ/ MC that we had to listen to. 4) while the staff is lovely and responsive, they also sent me multiple what’s app messages a day, including asking if they should clean the room, which I missed as I was on a boat all day, and returned to an uncleaned room. Constantly they were asking if we needed anything or other questions and it got a bit annoying, despite them just trying to be helpful. 5) our door also wouldn’t close completely and properly, we did tell the staff and they came and tried to fix it right away, however, the door still didn’t close properly to our bedroom and let mosquitos in at night.

Beautiful, peaceful space, away from crowded beach area with lots of local warungs and excellent coffee. Food at their attached restaurant La Prissa is excellent and good value as are their in room massages and laundry service. Not as hard to cross major road as some mention, can do so at the traffic lights at the end of the street, (google maps is confusing!) You just need to be patient and understand how the traffic flows. Loved the pool in the middle of the room and the outdoor bath (and awesome shower!) Staff were really friendly and helpful.

In house restaurant had 4 functions in the 7 day time period we stayed so if you're relying on room service, it may not be available in the evenings, but lots of local places especially for traditional Balinese food or Grab is available. Functions were a bit noisy but always finished by 10 pm.
