The location.

No parlor to communicate with other guests. No closet or dresser drawers to put your clothes in. No one to greet you inside. The first night we were told the wine would be served from 3 until whatever. They closed it before 5. We were told we were only able to have one glass of wine. I booked street view and did not get it. Was told they would check it but because I went through booking.com that we pretty much had to settle with what the house gave us. Breakfast was even worse. Had better. Last day we were told we would have to go next door to eat breakfast because there were only 2 couples in our house and they also owned the house next door. The service could not speak English. Only one person did on the second day. Parking was very tight. They had no one there to recommend any venues or restaurants. If you wanted maid service you had to ask for it. Not sure why it wasn’t automatic for bed making and clean up.

Parking is limited on site. Offsite parking is available but would be difficult to unload if onsite is full. Informed staff that my wife is vegan but no vegan choice at breakfast.

Location was prime for us, located within walking distance to all the shops and restaurants. Breakfast was really good, coffee could have been better.

We used booking.com which was great but couldn't find our room #17. Called a few different phone numbers and nobody answered. We were really frustrated until a nice man told us where the room was located (room number was blocked from view and had a private sign on the door). He was able to find the host who was very nice and accommodating. Parking was an issue, as to be expected in St Augustine, (we shouldn't have brought the truck...lol) !

Beautiful rooms right in the heart of St Augustine. Perfect location. The rooms are a bit hard to find. The staff are incredible, and ready to help. The breakfasts were incredible! Lots of stairs! On site parking available but we were assigned a spot about a block away. Great Place!

Location, location, location

Not a friendly family-run B&B. Rather impersonal. Fixed late breakfast time and no menu choice. Disappointing compared to other US B&B's that we have enjoyed

Breakfast was a HUGE disappointment. It would have been much better to pay a lower price and get breakfast elsewhere.

The best part was the location. Also the balcony was nice; however, the view left much to be desired. Mostly, we went out there to escape the freezing AC. The bed was comfy. The bathroom was nice.

No one on site to "man" any desk at any time. We had to call on the ring doorbell for someone to show up and let us in at 3 p.m., which was the stated time to check in. No place to sit for breakfast the first morning even though we came down exactly at 9:15, which is when they said it was served, and no staff to ask about it. Room was not cleaned when we left door handle note for them to do so. Lock on our room door did not work the last night we were there. Door didn't even latch, and when we tried calling someone, only got a busy signal. Loud people downstairs after 10 p.m.

no room controls for AC, shower did not drain, had to walk outside in the rain (and flooded driveway) to get to breakfast, food was so so and not even hot, really small dining area so felt very cramped, parking space was appreciated but had to park behind the bldg and walk all the way around the block to get to car (in the rain), parking area was flooded and muddy. floor in room was dirty, found someone elses hair in the shower drain before even turning on the water.

The place was lovely. They provided free parking and the location was perfect for sightseeing and strolling around the city.

No control within the individual rooms to control the air conditioning but they did have a system in place to text them and they remotely adjusted the temperature in the room.

Delicious breakfast. Super comfortable bed. Lovely bathroom. Excellent location.

Would prefer to park closer

The staff at the Hemingway House was very accommodating and friendly. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable.

Parking was a bit difficult to find.

Our room was #9, "Martha". It was tiny, with no closet or dresser, but it was clean, and the bathroom was comfortable. The location was okay, we could not see the bay, but it was close to restaurants and shops.

Our excitement about staying at a bed and breakfast in St. Augustine, Fl, was quickly diminished when my husband and I faced the following experience. A nice gentleman greeted us by explaining that everyone was meeting with the owner. He added that the room would be ready earlier than 3:00, and we could park in our spot and come back after lunch. After a wonderful lunch and walk, we returned around 2:00 pm, but this time a different man came around from the back with two guests he was walking to the entrance. In a nutshell, he was the rudest person we have ever encountered and did not even want to listen to us; he instead spoke above us and kept saying that he didn't care what anyone had told us and that we could not go in before 3:00 pm. I told him I would never return to this Bed and Breakfast and give it a bad review. He yelled back as he opened the door for the other guests, for us to go right ahead and write the review and never come back. We asked to speak with the other gentleman and the owner. The nicer gentleman came out and apologized for the other employee's behavior, told us he was also the chef and that the next day's breakfast would be egg benedicts. We thanked him but still insisted on speaking to the owner. A lady came out and was introduced as the owner. She apologized for our treatment and said she would speak with the rude employee and that we would be treated like royalty. We never saw her or the nicer employee again during our stay. We later looked up the Hemingway Bed and Breakfast, and in the public records, it states that the owner is a man, not a woman. Why lie to the guests? The next morning, breakfast consisted of a piece of white bread with some small ham cubes and a little bit of hollandaise sauce, not egg benedicts. We looked around, and no one had eaten the "egg benedicts" breakfast. Again, why lie to the guests? My husband and I would not recommend The Hemmingway House Bed and Breakfast.

Breakfast was adequate. The cheese egg bread casserole was ok but not great. The B & B did have a great location.

The temperature for St. Augustine was unusually cold and the room heating was not working properly. The owner did bring a space heater into the room which helped. Also we went out for the evening and when we returned the front door was not working. Again, the temperature was below normal and we had to wait for the owner to arrive which took 20 minutes in the cold. Next time we will definitely choose a hotel in St. Augustine.

Perfect Location

Very disappointed! The room itself was extremely small, it was advertised to have amenities included an ironing board and iron, alarm clock and sleep machine none of which was there. There was no table/desk,chair, dresser or closet for clothes. The bed mattress was very spongey and the top of the mattress was approximately thirty two inches from the floor making it very difficult for people in their seventies to get in and out of bed. Once in bed it was difficult to change positions. The first night we were there I noticed the inside safety slide lock on our room door was broken. The only security from the outside was a four number electronic lock with two of those numbers being our room number. The next day I showed the manager the broken lock and told him I didn’t I feel safe and wanted it replaced. He stated he would get a new one and that the area was very safe. When we checked out three days later the lock was still broken. To get to our room we had to walk up sixteen outside steps to the second floor of the building. If we wanted coffee, tea, ice or water we had to walk approximately seventy five yards to the main building. Breakfast was served at the main building at nine o’clock each morning which consisted of very small (child) portions of food. Charged for housekeeping whether we wanted it or not.
