Location was great, just a short walk from Circo Massimo and in historic Aventine area. It is just around the corner from the Keyhole (for what that is worth!). Hotel is very characterful, and charming. Staff are friendly enough. Hotel seems to be in some top list of places to stay for elderly Americans.
Air-conditioning in the room was not that great. Breakfast was not as good as reviews suggested, just average for a hotel in that price range. Garden had a lot of mosquitoes. Our room was a 'budget' room but quite expensive and a bit disappointing after reading reviews. All in all, my impression was of a slightly fading but charming hotel at the end of the season, not quite meeting my expectations from reviews read.

Really comfortable bed and bedlinen; and the hotel was in a lovely quiet neighbourhood in Rome which we loved staying in. The buffet breakfast was great - very tasty and plentiful. Fluffy bathrobes were lovely.
The shower was odd and very difficult to work (very overcomplicated jacuzzi thing); and they gave tiny bottles of shampoo etc which added to the inconvenience. And there was one bath towel each; but then the smaller "towel", that you would use for drying hands/drying your hair, was just a thin cotton tea-towel style one. So all in all the washing situation was not ideal for a female guest with long hair!

Staff reception eccellente.
Villa storica affascinante.
La peggior colazione mai vista in italia per categoria alberghiera. Scandalosa, penosa. Uova strapazzate a pagamento. Pessime bevande, pessimo salato quasi inesistente.
