Theater Hotel Salzburg

Right next to the main city

I thought the breakfast was fine. There was an abundant choice of bread, cheese, yogurt etc. The staff is excellent at keeping up with the number of diners. The coffee is hot on each table in a thermos carafe. The location is just perfect! I parked my rental car in the garage about a block away ($30E/day). And the little bar off the lobby is good for a beer. The rooms have small a fridge, and the SPAR market down the street is great for provisions.

The 1st desk clerk I encountered was a bit rude for me. I had been traveling by air and rental car for about 30 hrs. When I pulled up he was out front, smoking. Which was the only thing I ever saw him doing. After I checked in I went to put my luggage in the lobby before I parked the car. He watched me carry my luggage up the steps and then struggle to open the door. It pulled open and I was trying to balance on the step. He made absolutely no attempt to open the door for me. He was about 3 feet away, smoking. I did not want him to handle my luggage or carry my luggage or do anything else but assist with opening the door. But that was a bridge too far for that guy. I tried to avoid him for the rest of my stay. Everyone else was polite and helpful.

Room and bathroom were both clean and comfortable, breakfast very good and staff friendly and efficient. The bar could have been better. The curtains were very good and kept out the light when we wanted.

I cant think of much but a general upgrade of facilities, it is obviously a very popular hotel as it was mostly full.

The location was very good and the desk staff were incredibly helpful.

The rooms are very “tired”, the bedding and pillows were very poor quality and quite uncomfortable.
