Spacious Home Close To Downtown, VCU, MCV, The Fan
About this house rental
Situated in Richmond, this attractive house for $144 per night is a great option for your next trip. This beautiful four bedroom home is the perfect place to use as home base for your Richmond getaway. This 1920 home has a lovely blend of Craftsman style furnishings and interior touches. The family room features a large sectional sofa, a 46 inch HDTV flatscreen TV with Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime, as well as lots of windows and gorgeous light. The living room is the perfect place to sit down and recount the day's adventures by the fireplace or over a meal prepared in the gas kitchen, cooked on the backyard grill, or delivered from any of the fine restaurants nearby. The ample bedrooms are each furnished with 32 inch flat screen HDTV televisions, as well as iPod docking clock radios. The house also features a local Richmond art & good books on area history. The Home: Your home away from home in one of the most historic cities in the world includes a formal living room with a dining area with seating for 6, family room with a large sofa and TV, all gas kitchen, three large bedrooms (One King, Two Queen) , and a smaller fourth bedroom outfitted as an office (but which can be furnished with a Pack and Play), one full bathroom with bathtub, and one half bath . The approx. 1900 sq. ft. four square layout is very traditional to this area, and features hardwood flooring, original craftsman design details like french doors and mullioned windows, and both vintage & modern furnishings. The bedrooms are located on the second floor along with the full bath and a sun porch. There is a large fenced backyard as well as a park at the end of the block for the little ones to play. There is also off street parking for one car and freely available on street parking in front of the house for others. Close to everything: The home has a spectacular location which is central to most of Richmond's attractions. You can walk to historic Belle Isle and a lot of the James River Park system less than a mile away. The Fan, Hollywood Cemetery, The Poe Museum, Tredagar Iron Works, Monument Avenue, Church Hill, and VCU are all less than 10 minutes by car. Downtown, MCV, Hollywood Cemetery, the State Capital, the Confederate White House, Shokoe Bottom, and Interstate 95 are more like 5 minutes. Further afield, there is a lot of Civil War history nearby and a day trip to Charlottesville, the Smithsonian or Colonial Williamsburg are worth considering. The Neighborhood: Woodland Heights is a tree-lined neighborhood of primarily single family homes with a small number of multi family homes. It sits between Historic Manchester (home to late 1800s industrial warehouses which are no loft spaces and retail) and Forest Hill (which features a number of restaurants, shops, and taverns). Each neighborhood is about 1 mile long, so the walk from my house to the Manchester Arts district or Forest Hill Shopping district is 10-15 minutes, and the drive is less than 5.

Beautiful house with old Richmond charm in a pretty suburban neighborhood, yet minutes from the Fan and Devils Triangle and other attractions . It had everything we needed for our visit including a spacious fenced in back yard. The host was very accommodating. The overall experience was excellent and we look forward to staying there again.

I have never— ever— had such a bad experience using VRBO. The house was pungent with the smell of urine and cigarettes and it was, overall, dank. The furniture was badly in need of cleaning or replacement and I was surprised to find a filthy upholstered couch on the front porch.
While we expected a pet friendly property to have some wear and tear, and even odor, these conditions are unfit for a family with a young child. I could not, in good conscience, let mine sleep there. We left the same night we checked in. What is even more disappointing is that when I emailed Christopher to bring this to his attention, I never heard anything back. Disappointing, to say the least.

My family of 3 adults and 2 children stayed here the second weekend in November. We were in town for a wedding. The house and the neighborhood were both very nice. We had everything we needed and plenty of room to spread out. The beds were very comfy and bedding very soft. Everything was very clean. We didn’t really use the kitchen. The only issue I had was the bathtub. It was difficult to get into and out of and it’s not flat on the bottom (like my shower at home) so I felt a bit uneasy in there. No one else in my group mentioned it though so perhaps it's just me. I would recommend this house and we would definitely stay here again!

Very clean home with lovely period touches, great hardwood floors, comfortable bed and enough towels, linens and fans. I mention the fans because we were there during a heatwave and the house was stifling when we arrived. The upstairs was the worst and when we figured out how to work the thermostat it took hours to cool off up there. The fans were a big help. When the thermostats were set at reasonable temperatures and had run for a while the temperature was very comfortable. I loved the house and the quiet neighborhood. The backyard was perfect for the dog. We had family events during the weekend and were not there to watch TV but when we tried to wind down by watching TV, it was a guessing game because the guide did not work. We didn’t know what channel we were watching or what was on. We tried rebooting, we tried the settings, everything. We also could not access Netflix etc. It wasn’t a big deal because we weren’t there to watch TV but it would have been nice to relax from our events and the oppressive heat watching a little TV. So, if I could give 4.5 stars I would.

Overall a nice stay. With 6 people total we never felt crowded. There was one full bath but plenty of hot water. The tub itself was an old style clawfoot tub and a tad high, plus a little cramped for two. Inside is nice an clean especially considering that this is an older property. Upstairs was a little hot at night even with fans, but it was the middle of summer. The outside was a little unkempt and when talking with the owner found out that he's between lawn care companies at the moment so you're mileage may vary. There's plenty to do in Richmond though so no biggie, just realize the backyard photo isn't up to date.

The location of this property was absolutely perfect and stocked well with extra toilet paper, trash bags, sheets and towels, but the pictures provided are outdated and the property is in need of some TLC. When we arrived the cleaning crew dipped out on some trivial items, like leaving old restaurants take out, groceries in the fridge, dirty dishes in the dishwasher, sheets in the wash (clean, but left in there wet), old span bars and wash cloths in the shower, and the couches had cat hair on them (not a huge deal, but we are highly allergic to cats). The lawn was now mowed in a while, but frankly it provided a neat ambiance since the wild flowers began to grow, issue here was spiky weeds that were as tall as I was sing the fence and house line. The AC was sub par upstairs and struggled to keep the bedrooms tolerable. There was a black ant problem in the kitchen, but they are harmless. TV’s in the upstairs bedrooms do not have any service attached to them, so only the downstairs main living room tv was usable.

We've been friends for years... some of us are in the Carolina's, one in Virginia and myself in DC. Richmond is a perfect meeting spot. This house was unique and fun and so much better than staying in a hotel. Quick uber ride to fantastic restaurants and downtown areas. Within walking distance of park and other areas.

It's on the line between deferred maintenance and neglect. Very nice house, neighborhood almost eerily quiet, Coffee pot so rancid it spoils excellent coffee, back yard lawn so high no one aware of lyme disease would risk it, sofas on front porch beyond filthy, Communications with owner easy and useful. Needs cheat sheet for how to use the remote (we only found the one) to navigate to streaming.

This property is a charming older home with lots of character. My family and I enjoyed the home very much. I do have a few strong recommendations for improvements. It would be very helpful if a railing is installed at steps leading up to the front door. This is a safety hazard for anyone, especially those who don't have adequate balance to prevent falls. The lack of a railing presented a challenge for my 79-year-old parents.
Secondly, when we arrived at the property late on 4/19, the home was 49 degrees inside. We "froze" until the untimely radiant heat finally warmed the place in the morning. The home would have been more inviting and given a better first impression had we been comfortable.
Thirdly, the bathtub also presented a hazard for my parents. It was very difficult getting in and out because of the high sides of the tub.
Finally, the upholstered furniture appeared as if it hadn't been vacuumed for a while.
Of note, but a minor concern is the fact that the door to the upstairs bathroom does not adequately close and would be an issue for anyone who is modest.

This charming, vintage house couldn't have been more convenient to Historic Tredegar and our brewery wanderings. The beds were comfy and, though the original hardwood floors creaked, modern touches and decor everywhere made it homey. Very well supplied (towels, linens, toilet paper, wanting for nothing), and wonderful neighbors, too! We couldn't quite figure out the main-room TV streaming services, so instead we dove into one of the jigsaw puzzles provided by the host -- a much better family activity. Access was a breeze -- an overall great experience.

This house was by far my favorite Vbro property so far. It had the right amount of space and was in a good location to get where we needed. The house was old, but clean and well kept. It was far better in terms of space and price than staying at a hotel.

Overall great house, nicely furnished. great for dogs. Toilet upstairs fills very slowly. there are really only three furnished bedrooms.

House is in serious need of attention. Outside landscaping has not been done in quite some time. It appeared to be a deserted home instead of the what the pictures showed on VRBO. Inside was clean, but could be improved. Window down stairs would not latch and and fridge appeared to be rusting on the outside. Very dissatisfied with the house as a whole. Would not recommend to anyone.
