About this villa rental
Located in Comarca Norte, this lovely villa for $275 per night is a fantastic choice for your next break. A traditional house that has been carefully restored is always a pleasure to find and thus it was with delight that we wandered through the welcoming rooms of this charming rural retreat. The interior is a perfect blend of old and new. Traditional carved furniture of heavy wood sits atop terracotta tiles in the cosy sitting room, a pretty kitchen, curtained with colourful fabrics is adorned with local pottery, whilst in the immaculate bathrooms thoughtfully chosen ceramics decorate tap handles and walls alike. Standing high on the slopes of a south-facing hillside, on the edge of the local village of Solana de Utiaca, this privileged situation combines a picturesque panorama of mountains with proximity to amenities. Built in 1850 and carefully refurbished in 2011, the stone, terracotta and wood building has a floor area of 200 m² with modern facilities in a charming atmosphere. There is WiFi for our guests traveling with laptops or iPads. This villa has a private pool (6,5 x 4 mt) with a panoramic view to the mountainous landscape. From the house, a narrow footpath winds its way up to the parking area and the village above of Solana de Utiaca. Within walking distance, this small village has a grocery store, although for a greater selection of amenities Santa Brígida and the market town of Vega de San Mateo is a 15-minute drive. The city of Las Palmas and so the coastline is only at 20km. Within 30 minutes drive, a great variety of beaches can be reached, all of them away from mass tourism. Melenara, Las Canteras or San Andrés give you the opportunity to spend the day in the beach in a family mood with the local people. Then, with the sunset, you may enjoy a dinner of fresh fish at any of the inexpensive restaurants around the area. The Real Club de Golf the Las Palmas is within 15-minute drive of the villa next to the stunning Caldera de Bandama, a 200-meter-deep volcanic crater, on whose peak you will find an observation platform that affords you a scenic vista of the island. Kill two birds with one stone! Tourist registration number: CR-35/1/0039

The house is beautiful and the service excellent. Easy to operate, all appliances available. Views are amazing. The local shop has everything you need.
We really cannot think of anything. The driveway is a little extreme but not something that can be changed. Everything else is perfect

beautiful villa with fantastic views
Seven of us stayed here for 8 days including 3 children. We all had a wonderful time - the children loved the pool and we had BBQs in the evening. The villa was spacious and had everything you needed. There were plenty of seating areas outside and the views of the surrounding countryside were beautiful. We hired a car and it was easy to go to the beach and shops and restaurants - only about 20/30 minutes away. Iballa the owner helped us with anything we needed and told us some interesting places to visit . It was easy to contact her if we wanted to know anything and she made us feel at home and very welcome.

The property is very spacious both inside and out, with lots of different areas for families and friends as well as space away from each other if needed!
Overall, it was a great property with a fantastic owner in a lovely area. Would recommend and will probably be back!

Lovely converted farmhouse up in the rural mountainous area in central Gran Canaria. Perfect for a peaceful break. Stunning view of mountains. Lovely outside pool area, BBQ and lots of choices of seating areas. Rooms were very comfortable & master bedroom was huge with balcony that was a perfect place to sit in the mornings for breakfast! Iballa was very welcoming on arrival, and helped us with the very challenging drive down the track to the villa (the reverse back up is not for the faint-hearted!) Iballa was always available to answer our queries or sort any issues out. A car is essential as you are quite a way from shops and the coast, but an excellent holiday destination for those who want to get away from the busier tourist resorts.

Peaceful getaway
My partner and I stayed at the villa as a very last minute get away. We wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle for a few days.. This villa did not dissapoint. So peaceful in the valley with a beautiful view.
The pool was cleaned twice during our week long stya and was perfect for us. I would. Imagine a good size for a small family also, or just some couples wanting a get away.
The interior of the hosue was quite dark, but needed in the heat and provided a sanctuary of cool.
The kitchen was very well stocked with everything that we needed. We love to cook and ut was our plan to eat at the villa all week. We had everything we needed to do So.
The bed was comfy and bathrooms well equipt with lots of hot water.. Table fans that we found in a cupboard, were a godsend for our last two nights, when the outside temperatures soared.
We used the outside barbecue a couple. Fo times, which was easy and there are two lovely outdoor eating areas. We enjoyed picking the odd lemon from the tree and the mulberries on the mulberry Bush were beautiful.
As for location, a car is definitely needed and the drive down to the villa from the road is not for the faint hearted. It is very steep and narrow and reversing skills to get bcak along the flat part of the road are a must. That said, we hired a small automatic car, which was a godsend and we managed no problem.
If you don't rant to driv to the villa, it sposisble to park on the road side and walk a short walk down to it aong a path. Possibly not great in the dark.
There are two local shops which open mornings and evenings. We were fortunea to go into SAN Mateo on the weekend, where there is a fabulous agricultural market in the mornings. The locals were having a community dance on the Sunday too, which was lovely and San Mateo itself is a quaint town to visit.
For us, the villa and location was perfect. The owners were very easy to contact and attentive when checking in (our flight was delayed by four hours) but that didn't bother them. We were given a welcome basket of bread, cheese, milk, pasta and cava to name a few.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Traditional Villa with beautiful views
We booked this villa for a family holiday with 6 adults/grown-up kids.
Arriving at the villa is a bit of a challenge in a car but we kindly had the help of someone with their own (slightly battered!) car to help us down. The view is amazing as per the photos as you are really on the side of a mountain!
The pool is lovely but v cold!
lots of little places to sit and chill
The outside BBQ got a lot of use and we used the kitchen a lot to cook - it was on the smaller side but well equipped.
The host was helpful despite her broken leg! We didn't really need to contact her as everything was pretty self explanatory.
There are some restaurants within a 20 min walk (up steep hills!) but seemed very random what times/days they opened! Nice, non-touristy place of Gran Canaria, authentic food.
Wouldn't say this is a luxury villa by any means, more rustic but very clean and everything you need. Had to buy things like toilet roll, bin bags, dishwasher tablets, sponges etc- we were there for 10 days but would've been nice to have been fully stocked to last us.
Overall, Great villa for 6 people looking to relax, in and beautiful location, all locals were very friendly (despite Brexit) #sorry

Nice quiet house very well equipped
A very nice and clean family house with everything you need including a private pool. Well situated in the mountains at 25 kilometres from Las Palmas.
Iballa, the friendly owner, had already done some initial shopping and was very helpful by bringing the luggage to the car (the access to the house is not very easy by car).

Beautiful country property with fantastic views.
A traditionally decorated country property in the quiet village of La Solana. The outside space was so lovely and well kept. The beds were very comfortable and there were several places to relax. Beatrix the owner was very helpful and attentive. We had a very hot week of sun at the end of October. You will need a car at this property although there are two small shops within walking distance for most things. Be prepared to leave the car on the road above the property and use steps to access it as the drive of the property is steep. Beatrix helped us move our luggage to our car at the end of the stay. We would thoroughly recommend the property if you want peace, but within reach of everything easily by car.

Villa is on a hillside with fanstatic veiws. The villa was spotless and was beautiful with a lovely master bedroom. We especially loved the numerous outside seating areas. The pool was great with a lilo, a couple of swimming noodles and a ball which the kids enjoyed. The upper parking area was being paved so was not availible when we were there. We arrived late in the dark and Beatriz kindly ran us and our luggage from the side street where we parked into the property only a minute away. Once it was daylight the driveway to the house was tricky to negotiate but do-able. Beatriz had left a welcome basket which was spot on for a hungry family arriving late with ingrediants for a simple pasta supper and a good breakfast as well as much appeciated goodies of cava and chocolate! We had a fabulous holiday, a walk up to Roque Nublo was a highlight. Beatriz was so friendly and it was lovely to meet her. She was also really helpfull throughout our stay and, as no-one else was coming immediately after us, kindly let us stay later into the afternoon on our last day before we left to catch our evening flight home. A brilliant holiday made very special by our accomodation!

Wonderful house, amazing views, just perfect!
The house, the pool, the views...it's really gorgeous. We very much enjoyed our stay in and around the house where you can find so many comfortable and lovely places. Our children loved to explore the house and its surroundings and spent hours in the pool. Beatrix made us feel very welcome and gave us great tips and recommendations. We have seen very nice places on the island when we were hiking in the mountains or at the seaside but we always enjoyed very much to return to this house!

Wonderfully peaceful rural retreat
We booked Casa Moral as a last minute getaway for some much needed sun, rest and relaxation. We were very happy with our choice; the property has many wonderful outdoor areas to relax but the highlight for us was a magnificent rural view across some of the most wonderful scenery. The house itself is well equipped with two lounging areas and three double bedrooms, each with their own bathrooms. It is comfortably furnished and the kitchen has everything you could need. However, the outdoor areas, including the private pool, are the real selling point of the property. As mentioned in previous reviews, the drive down to the property really is quite tricky so we left the car at the top of the hill and walked the 5 mins up and down the hill with our baby. This can be a little inconvenient with shopping and definitely not something you could do with a pram, but we felt the natural location more than made up for the inconvenience. Beatriz went the extra mile for us, making sure we had all the baby kit we needed which was very kind and provided a food welcome pack as we arrived late. The downsides; it would have been great to have an information pack on the local area (recommended beaches, restaurants, local markets etc) so that we didn't need to keep bothering Beatriz. Also, the local village only has two little shops which are not open all the time and the restaurant mentioned in previous reviews didn't open once when we were there so you really do need a car. I would also suggest to those who have restricted mobility or those with toddling or crawling babies that this may not be best for you as there are lots of stairs and some without hand rails. But if you don't mind a little extra effort and crave stunning, uninterrupted views, genuine peace and quiet then Casa Moral is definitely worth a visit.

Lovely traditional house with wonderful views
We really enjoyed our week's stay and loved the house. The description and the reviews below are all accurate. The house is traditional with some lovely old wooden furniture, but modern with wifi, and a great setting for the pool. There are lots of different places to sit out and enjoy the views over the valley below, with traditional working of the agricultural terraced slopes, and it is very easy spend lazy hours around the house and pool. The area is good for exploring the mountainous central part of the island, which will appeal to those looking to avoid some of the more touristy parts of the south, but also less than half an hour to the motorway to get around the island more quickly or to some quieter beaches in the east and north, such as Melenara or El Puertillo.
Beatriz is a perfect host, and kindly provided a welcome pack of some nice food and wine for the first evening. She visited to see that everything was going well, and provided very helpful suggestions for days out.
The restaurant/snack bar is good value for eating in or takeaway, and the local shop is surprisingly well stocked for a small village. We would recommend a torch for descending the steep path in the evening. The supermarket and petrol station in Vega de San Mateo is about 10 minutes away, with a good Saturday/Sunday local market. We would certainly recommend the cave restaurant at Arternara, the highest village in Gran Canaria, particularly for its setting and spectacular views.

"For a quiet, relaxing ho...
"For a quiet, relaxing holiday this is the place to go! Casa El Moral is a beautiful farmhouse with lots of charming features and very spacious. Our favourite spot was the sunny terrace off the master bedroom with its fantastic views of the mountains. A trip to Roque Nublo is well worth it. Thank you to Beatriz for the warm welcome."

Fabulous Setting
A lovely house in a lovely setting - recommended for those wanting a change from or to avoid touristy areas etc. This is a proper house, full of character and charm, well maintained and well equipped. Comfortable beds! One of the best we have stayed in.
The area was quiet, fascinating and the locals friendly - the local bar is also value for money. The steep winding access path was not a problem for us as we are age 50 (+ a bit) and Beatriz carried the cases in her car for us any way.
A good base for exploring the island so long as you don't mind driving. We had a good time - always busy. We drove over to Port Mogan (a long way) via Cruz de Tejeda, had a day in Las Palmas, visited Teror and had a day at Playa des Ingles. We needed longer than a week really. Our 14 year old kept busy in the pool when we were not out. Older children might need more to keep them happy - but there are lots of walks in the area. There was also plenty of information at the house.
Can also recommend Beatriz as a perfect host - she arrived within minutes of our call and although she did not bother us during our stay we felt comfortable she was on hand should we need any help or advice.

Fanastic house in a great setting
My family and I spent a week in this charming old spanish villa, high up in the mountains in a fantastic setting. All the rooms were very big and the house well equiped. My children loved the seperate chilldrens playhouse by the pool, would recommend this house to anyone who wanted to get away from all the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas.
Will definately be coming back soon.

Nice holiday with a family
We stayed in this villa for a week in January, and we couldn't be more pleased about the whole holiday. Villa was well equipped, and we didn't have any problems staying there as 6 adults with a child 7 months old. Only problem was, that the house wasn't that easy to access with a car and the walking path was quite hard to walk as well, so you need to be carefull walking there specially during the evenings. And even though the villa wasn't that easy to access, we got help with our luggage from the owner of the villa.
So if you want to have a holiday away from the big cities, but still be able to go shopping there within 30-45minutes, our family can totally recommend this villa. And same goes with the beach side, you need to drive there for a while. Car is a necessity and at least we didn't have problems parking it a bit away from the house - no scratches :)
Also what you need to experience if you visit La Solana, is the local pub "La Solana". Good food and good service, even if you don't speak Spanish.
Overall: I could definately go there again.

A feal find
We spent a wonderful week here this summer. The house is charming - a traditional home, beautifully furnished. It was clean and well maintained with a poolman / gardener calling twice a week. The view from the pool and terrace is lovely and we spent our days lounging by the pool watching the locals who were busy farming on the small terraced strips of land down in the valley. The terrace was in full sun from 10am- 7pm. It was extremely quiet and even the village seemed deserted each time we walked in for bread and supplies. The car journey down to the property is 'eventful' as it is situated on a steep and windy track but it all added to the adventure of being off the beaten track. Beatriz is very welcoming. Her knowledge of English is superb and she recommended many places to visit/ eat before handing over the keys and leaving us for the week.
We read ( there are paperbacks in many languages filling the shelves) swam and soaked up the sun. Our 6yr old loved everything and spent the days in the pool and picking pears and oranges from the trees. Our teenage boy enjoyed the pool but found the location a little too quiet.
We would definitely recommend this house - it is private although not secluded, and is a real gem if you want a really quiet, gentle paced holiday

perfect holiday retreat
If you are tired of the typical tourists resorts and long to explore the real gran canaria then this delightful, tranquil villa may be for you.The drive to the house is certainly winding but we quickly got used to it and the lovely views over the lush green landscape provided a refreshing contrast to the more barren south. The villa itself was more than we wished for, being very spacious, homely and comfortable ..and Beatriz a welcoming host who respected our privacy..just perfect.Im sure anyone, with a slightly adventurous spirit, would find little fault with this charming traditional canarian home. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and could have stayed longer!

Fantastic place
What a lovely place to stay. The villa itself is plenty large enough and the views are stunning. The location is great too, but beware it does take a little longer than expected to get to other places on the island - the windy mountain roads see to that. Not that it's an issue as the drives are always worth it, with the excellent scenery providing plenty of interest along the way.
The swimming pool was great and the layout of the patio was perfect for catching sun - it has it from dawn to dusk.
It's also very quiet there, seemingly at all times of the day, so it's a great 'get away from it all' location.
Highly recommended location for a mountain holiday in Gran Canaria.
