We spent Memorial Day weekend here (3 nights). Our group was a family of four (two adults and two kids, ages 6 and 8). The cottage was cozy and just the right size for our family. The dock and view are incredible. The house was well stocked and had plenty of sensible conveniences like power outlets and ample towel hooks (not every house does, right?!). We spent Saturday morning hiking and exploring Lake Waccamaw State Park and the afternoon we spent swimming and hanging out at the dock. We ate dinner at the one restaurant in town on Saturday evening. We drove over to Wilmington (40 minutes) for the day on Sunday. Spent lots of time with coffee and a book on the screened in porch. The TV has Netflix access and we brought our Nintendo Switch so we had some screen entertainment. I’m a birder, brought my binoculars, and spotted lots of birds. A barred owl was a highlight. Our kids counted 40 gators in the canal over the course of the trip! If you love nature and want a quiet and simple getaway, this a great choice for a vacation spot. I’ve lived in NC my whole life and had never been to LW and really enjoyed learning about it at the Nature Center at the State Park. Hills Grocery is ten minutes away. Our only complaints were not great WiFi, the rain (but we need it!), and lots of bird poop on the dock furniture, but we’re low maintenance and managed. Gail was very hospitable and communicative. The home is clearly loved and well cared for. Loved all the waterfowl paintings!

The location was awesome! You have access to a backyard, beach, outdoor dining area, and a lovely dock and covered patio area over the water. We spent a lot of time on the screened porch. There are both shady and sunny areas to enjoy. The cottage is cozy. The hosts were very quick to respond to questions. I would recommend.

Host are wonderful, they accommodated us when I originally scheduled the wrong date.Very clean and it made our stay so much better than a hotel room. We were in town for our daughters bball tournament and with a smaller sibling it was way more enjoyable…

Quaint peaceful location on the lake. Clean, cozy cottage. We didn’t cook any meals during our stay but ate conveniently at the kitchen bar. Plenty of hot water in the shower. Ample supplies on site. Appreciated use of the kayaks. Nice screened in porch.
