Our extended family had a wonderful stay at this beautiful home!
The surrounding mature landscape was an added unexpected delight. We wished the pool was open and heated - it would have been paradise!

Beautiful home and proptery. Issues we have never experienced. Blind in living room was broken, let down and took 3 of us to roll up and tie up. No heat in 2 of 3 bedrooms upstairs. Sliding door downstairs was hard to unlock, slider was hard to open. Concern of fire issue. Hot tub water was not clear, no chemicals in floater. Plate in microwave was not there. Unable to have dinner party as planed. Pans were old, scared and sticked. Really. Only 1 oven mit, holes, pot holder greasy. Really. But the final issue was when we pulled sheets for houskeeping, the double mattress had a very bad stain on mattress. Really? We have always had outstanding homes in the past. Again, beautiful home and property. I tried to reach local contact, mark, no response.

We had a wonderful time staying with a group of 8. The house was large enough to accommodate us all comfortably. Having a separate downstairs area with a second kitchen was great. The best part was the ocean views and hot tub!

Our family loved this house! It was clean, however there is a strong urine smell that is a bit overwhelming at first. We opened the windows to allow fresh air in and that helped. Other than that, we enjoyed the beautiful grounds, the walk to the beach, and the home itself!

My family had a great time. The property was beautiful and the view was gorgeous.
The beach is farther away than we thought and there were internet issues. Overall great experience.

While the garden was lovely the interior needs some help design wise: the ratty, rattan shades took us a half an hour to tie up out of the way! No real organization in the kitchen, just lots of stuff. No nods to the coast in furnishings or artwork, etc. Main drawback was that windows facing the ocean don’t open(although no doubt that was originally to keep the winds out of the family home). The large, dark dining room has no view, because the rhododendrons are blocking it. They need to be pruned!
Newport is a wonderful place to visit and we had a great time. It was nice to have badminton area and the hot tub was wonderful. It was very difficult to figure out how to walk to the beach and although I contacted the property manager by email and phone I received no response throughout the trip. I would say that overall it didn’t provide good value for the money ( you expect to have a view certainly, and we were really short of blankets!)… But fortunately the beds were comfortable and a heated toilet seat amused the teenagers. I would not stay there again.

Needs a facelift. Did not appreciate the mold in the dishwasher and the owner's clutter everywhere. Cabinets and garage are full of random ,stuff. House has a mgusty smell upon entering. View of the ocean was great. Not so great, the view of the algae covered unusable in-ground swimming pool, which was not included in website photos.

Love the house! So clean, inviting and homey. The kids had a blast! Were disappointed that we could not access the beach from the house, but Agate beach is right down the street. Great that we were able to bring our dogs.

The layout and house itself is charming, with all the wood and great views!

Great views and grounds of property but beach not easily accessed like ad makes it seems. Locks on doors are old and you have to jiggle the front door in order to lock the bolt. House is old and has a musty smell. But overall a good stay.

We had a great time staying here, and like I’ve read in other reviews you cannot get to the beach from this house unless you cross a pretty wide river. The house is an older house and could have been cleaned a little more, but we were happy with our stay.

NO beach access from the house and large trees block a lot of the view. They were very nice to work with and the house is big and spacious.

The grounds are amazing. A basketball court! Swings that overlook the beach and ocean! A neighbor takes care of the bird feeders, so we saw fantastic birds every time we were in the kitchen. There is a great place to drink wine as the sun sets. As soon as we got to the house, my little nephews wanted to play hide and seek inside, and it really was a great house for this. The fireplace was amazing, and one of the reasons we took this place. The kitchen was fine, but could use a big soup or pasta pot, and the mattresses were comfortable, although they needed new pillows. The extra space (the living room/kitchenette on the lower floor) was nice to have for our large group. There are ocean views from almost every room. There were really only 2 disappointments with this house. The hot tub doesn't seem to work very well. It's the right temp when you first get in, but then it cools off too fast. Time for a new one. I stayed at a house in Government Camp in 10 degree weather with snow drifts around the hot tub, and that one held its temperature just fine. Also, the path to the beach takes about 5 or 10 minutes, which is fine, but then we had to take off our shoes and wade across a stream at the top of the beach to actually get on the beach. Not much can be done about this, and maybe it's fine in the dry season, but renters should know they have to deal with this or drive a little ways to be able to just walk on the beach.

We enjoyed our stay very much. Enough room for all. Beautiful ocean view. All amenities needed were available. Path to beach was not a path at all. Very steep. Would have had to cross a very wide body of water at bottom to get to beach. And bunk beds could be queen. But overall very nice place. Would definitely stay again.

The house itself was really awesome, huge and everything you need is in there, pots pans utensils the works.
The view from the master bedroom is pretty awesome, albeit could probably be better without the huge pine directly in front of it but the pine is also nice to look at, it kind of looks like a hydra wiggling its heads at you in the middle of the night! One singular problem we had was the random appearance of an older women directly outside the middle floor kitchen window changing out the bird feeders.. Luckily at that time neither of us were naked or anything but yeah if the owners gave anyone permission to the property (this woman claimed to know the owners and stated they "loved when she fed the birds"..) they really should tell her not to show up when its being rented out, it's completely innapropriate and will probably freak just about anybody out when you're in the middle of cooking breakfast and next thing you know you see somebody who has walked past the gates onto the private property and doesn't give a crap anybody is in there.. Anyways.. back to the good stuff! The house is again amazing, the yard was great and there were loads of mushrooms growing when we were there in the end of October, including a HUGE pine bolete! Cool swingset in the back next to the firepit, and a very nice looking pool that was sadly locked up. The hot tub was great, however i have to mention there was a pretty huge rat that ran past us twice as we sat in the tub, I mean the thing was like a good 10 inches long at least.. This has nothing to do with the state of the house or anything, the yard is just huge and it's not a surprise it's home to quite a few wild creatures, including an owl we saw! There is a short path behind a few houses that leads you to the beach, the only problem is during the later months the creak at the end of the path is anywhere between 4 to 2ft deep, so it's not really crossable. We had to drive down to the nearest beach entrance to get on the sand.
Again in the end the house and yard and views were spectacular! Owners just need to let their old friends know to not show up while people are possibly naked in the kitchen cooking breakfast :)

This was my first time ever booking an airbnb and I can easily say this house is definitely one to go back to. I would like to say thank you to the owners for letting people like me and my friends stay in such a awesome place. I will be renting again.

Older, kitschy home with lots of hangout spaces and doors, so many doors! A lot of sleeping options & clean rooms. Upstairs bathroom had a weird bidet contraption on an extension cord that was not a great experience. Linens were fine but pillows were old and flat (prison pillows!). The grounds are gorgeous & pleasant to relax in. No sign of the four chaise lounges in the pictures though. Not a good place for walking or beach access. You have to walk down a narrow path, past other homes, down a hill, then through more grasses on obscure path THEN cross a small creek just to get to the beach. Forget bringing anything! The only other option is to drive to a better beach access point. Which brings me to the other issue- highway 101. Just a nightmare of traffic all day. We spent far too much time on this road during our stay as there is no alternative route. In conclusion- cool house if you just want to chill In place and HEAR the ocean (big trees obscure most views from the house!) but if you want to be active and have easy access to the beach find a different place. Our teens would have had way more to do if we were at Nye beach and we could have walked more & drove less.

This property makes us want to buy something like it. It was an amazing and very interesting house and well kept property. We really loved the size and privacy of the property and incredible view of the ocean. The path to the beach wasn't too clear at first but didn't take long for my teenagers to find that you access the trail from the east side. I would definitely stay here again.

The grounds and views are phenomenal. Plenty for room to move about the yard and watch the hummingbirds, soak in the hot tub and just stare out at the beach and ocean. The basement has been updated but the rest of the house has a strange and less than ideal floor plan. Removing a few interior doors would help open on the space, but instead provide a very tight kitchen. The door used for entry is tight and enters into the kitchen making moving luggage in and out functional, but annoying. Furniture in the living room is laid out in a strange manner, none facing the ocean view window, including a tall table blocking the view from the couch.
Other issues:
-The upstairs bathroom has a bidet seat attachment that doesn't even fit
-the sink drain takes forever to drain
-stains on bed comforter

Outdoor space was amazing. Only complaint was the hot tub was not clean and when jets were turned on it smelled like swamp water. Our group was looking forward to hot tub but didn’t want to get in after smelling it. House is older but clean.

The views of the ocean were beautiful and the grounds were wonderfully landscaped with many mature trees. We were disappointed that the pictures made you think the beach was just through the bushes but there’s a cliff. The house was clean and had plenty of rooms for our family of five. Also, one morning there was someone on the grounds of the house doing maintenance who was right next to the windows and was looking in which was extremely awkward. Guests should be made aware of this prior to their stay.

The house is somewhat dated and has its quirks, but the yard and landscaping cannot be matched! We had four young children running around through the various trails and "hidden garden tunnels" all week long. The beach isn't quite "walk-on", but there is a neighborhood trail that bypasses main roads to allows access within a short hike. Would definitely come back the next time we have a medium-sized group.

We had an amazing time celebrating my son’s birthday. There was room for everyone and he enjoyed the hot tub. The location was really good it wasn’t far from any of the things we planned to do while we were out there.
