Situated in Duck, this lovely condo for $271 per night is a fantastic option for your next trip. This is a beautiful, newly decorated condo located just steps to the beach! Our condo is on the 2nd floor with fantastic views of the ocean and ocean front pool (unheated) from every window. The large deck right off the living room is the perfect spot to relax to the sound of the surf, to watch the sun rise and dolphins play at dawn (or all day!) in the ocean, or to idle the day away. Bring your binoculars or use ours for close ups of the dolphins, pelicans, seagulls etc. Our unit offers a master bedroom with king bed, two full baths (super convenient for a family) sleep sofa queen bed, hallway XL single berth bed, fully appointed kitchen (including Keurig coffee maker, drip coffee maker, blender, toaster, dishwasher!), two flat screen TVs (living room and master bedroom), free WiFi, brand new deck swing, keyless entry system, and much more. Please note our condo is on the second floor of a three story building with stairs and no elevator. Note: Linens and towels are NOT included in our rental, but can be rented by guests directly with a linen rental company to help guests keep their costs down. Or guests may bring their own linens and towels. Pillows, blankets and quilts are provided. Our beach-- only steps away from our condo -- features coastal dunes, soft creamy sand, nice surf and great beach combing. We have beach chairs and boogie boards for your use during your visit. In addition to our beach front, our condo community has an outdoor pool (unheated), outdoor grills, basketball and tennis courts, pool side restrooms, and oceanfront showers and laundry facilities. We are only a short 15 minute walk to the lovely, historical village of Duck where you can enjoy the lovely shops, buy groceries, eat at great restaurants and cafes, buy books and sip coffee at Duck Cottage, rent bikes to ride on the jogging trails, walk the sound-side boardwalk for bird watching, and rent canoes, kayaks and other water sport equipment. Bring your binoculars to bird watch and get great close ups of dolphins in our surf. Superb viewing from our deck! We keep our reservations calendar up to date so check it out to reserve now! It was our first trip to the Outer Banks, and we loved our stay at Dolphin Dawn! We were able to watch the sunrise from the deck, and we even saw some dolphins swimming down the coast one morning which was so cool! The condo was very clean, and it had everything that we needed for our stay. The beds were comfy too. Thank you for helping us have a great family vacation.

Property was a great find! Owners provided all the details to access the property, along with what was needed (eg linens), and what to expect when we arrived. The view and location was amazing. Cute place. I didn’t like that we had to bring own linens and towels because it added extra weight to my luggage. The blankets that were available for use didn’t seem clean.

This is a great one-bedroom condo with a nice view of the ocean. Was there in Feb. so it was very quiet and peaceful. Would stay there again for sure.

Overall, it's 3/5. We won't stay here again but it's not for anything the owners could necessarily change. The place was warm and mostly clean (the cleaners missed some trash), served it's purpose for our brief trip and had a good location. The unit was just outdated and not worth the price given that we had to bring EVERYTHING that a hotel would have covered for less $. Pros- 1. We were 1 of 2 tenants in our entire building so it was quiet. 2. It was conveniently located next to several shops and restaurants. 3. You could see the beach over the pool from the balcony. I liked that the balcony had a hammock (although we didn't use it) & binoculars (which I did use once). Cons 1. You have to bring EVERYTHING- soap, bed linens, towels, toiletries, TP, etc. For the price I paid, this was a big con for us- I don't remember reading this on the website when booking, but I likely missed it. 2. You get 1 parking spot that is very difficult to find if you arrive in the dark. 3. The internet is through Spectrum and was very unstable throughout the weekend. I couldn't get the unit's wifi to work despite the instructions and had to use the guest wifi. 4. While our unit was not overly dirty, I agree with the other reviews that the cleaners do not do the best job. There was a used, dirty plastic cup left on the counter when we arrived. It was a decent place to stay, but not worth the $ for us. If you don't care about the cons I listed, then you'll likely enjoy this unit.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was quiet and relaxing. The weather was fabulous- it did rain one day - but other than that it was heavenly. We listened to the ocean all weekend on your beautiful deck - had coffee and watched the most beautiful sunrises. Thank you !

We enjoyed our stay. Very quiet time of year. The master bedroom bed was good. We don’t think that the couch bed would be suitable for anybody, totally wore out. It might be nice to have a Murphy bed so that whoever sleeps in the living room will also has a 5 star stay. Because of the couch bed we will not bring family or friends back here to stay.

Booking was super easy and communication with owner was quick and responsive. We stayed for 2 nights for wedding 2 miles away and super convenient. Bed was very comfy, never even turned on the tv and you had a fantastic view of the ocean from the balcony. We will be back!

3rd time at Colony by the Sea condos; first at this unit: nicely furnished; comfortable; clean; great ocean view and sounds of waves; very good AC; good water pressure; beach chairs, umbrella, and body boards provided. Would stay here again.

A really sweet spot for relaxing by the sea. The condos in these buildings have larger than usual porch decks. This one holds a delightful two seater hammock swing, 2 deck chairs and small tables. The view of the pool and sea are great. The porches and exteriors have been recently renovated, as well as the terrific 2 board walks out to the beach. We especially enjoyed the new looking gazebos with a view above the dunes. I enjoyed daily swims in the pool, which was in very good shape. Lots of chairs and tables, too. Bathrooms near the beach and pool were clean and in good condition. Very convenient! The rooms were clean, with a recently renovated master bath. The bed was very comfortable, and so was the living room furniture. The guest bath needs some deep cleaning; otherwise, we were very pleased. There is a nice sized private space outside the front door to store beach stuff. The other tenants were friendly and respectful. A really nice location near the town of Duck. You will find a mile long board walk with nice shops and fabulous views of nature on the Sound - especially the gorgeous sunsets. Loved it!

Very lovely condo with an excellent view and access to the beach. We were fortunate to be there as the loggerhead turtles were emerging from their nest and making their way to the ocean. Fascinating. The weather was perfect. The new king size mattress was wonderful. The berth bed was fine. The sofa sleeper? It is what it is. The only thing that was inconvenient was lack of some basic supplies, like toilet paper and dish washing liquid. I don't think to pack those items. But I would definitely recommend this condo to anyone looking for a great location and comfortable stay.

This is the second year we have stayed at one of the Haywards' properties at Colony By the Sea and it certainly won't be the last. They make our vacations at OBX so much easier! The property was just as described, exceptionally clean and welcoming. The view of the ocean was a great wake up and sitting outside on the balcony while hearing the waves crash made our nights. Thanks so much for another great vacation! See you next year.
