About this house rental
Situated in Smith Mountain Lake, this lovely house for $300 per night is a great option for your next trip. Gibbs retreat is centrally located in the beautiful quiet wooded subdivision of Beechwood West at Smith Mt. Lake, making it close to shopping and activities. By water it is located at R 31 on the main channel of the Roanoke arm of the lake, less than 5 minutes by water to Hales Ford Bridge, Bridgewater Plaza and more. In just a 15 minutes drive you can access the main shopping areas of the lake, restaurants, gift shops, children activities, putt-putt golf. We are only 45 minutes from Roanoke and 55 to Lynchburg; making it easy to spend the day in either place. Gibbs Retreat is just as beautiful in the fall, winter and spring. We are surrounded by trees to enjoy the beautiful colors in fall and spring. Winter is a great time to visit and enjoy quiet time around the fireplace. SML offers a lot of fun festivals including Pirate Days the 3rd weekend in July, SML Antique and Classic Boat Festival in September, SML Home Tour in October, and Chili Festival in November. You will also find plenty of fireworks for 4th of July and events during December for Christmas . Winter would be a wonderful to spend time with family putting puzzles together, playing games, celebrating Thanksgiving or Christmas. Worried there will be no decorations for Christmas, no need I decorate the inside of the house for Christmas. Winter would also be a great time if you are an author and need a quite place to write, quilters or scrapbookers….. Gibbs retreat is comfortable 3 bedroom wood frame house with an extra large den. The house comes with 2 lake front queen masters. One on the main level and one downstairs. There are 3 queen beds and 2 single beds available. Our newly renovated open design kitchen has a large island, new appliances and is complete with everything you need. The great room with a high beam ceiling hosts an extra-large dining table that looks right out to the lake. Our recently updated new wood floors complement our spectacular view. The outdoor deck complete with a security gate at the steps has a large table for outdoor dining, grill and seating to enjoy the view. We provide the propane for the gas grill at no extra charge. Use any floats we have in the garage. Our laundry is located in the guest bath on the main floor eliminating any trips downstairs. Bringing or renting a boat? Great! We have a covered dock with electricity. There is plenty of parking including a spot for your boat trailer. Parking on the street is prohibited. We offer boat launch at our neighborhood boat ramp, ask for details. Upon your arrival you will find starter paper products - 2 rolls of toilet paper in the bathrooms, paper towels, sponge and trash bags to get you started for you week. We provide all the dish/dishwasher and hand soaps, kitchen towels, coffee filters, and salt/pepper. There is no smoking in the house! We do allow smoking anywhere outside, however, please dispose of cigarette butts properly and carefully. We are dog friendly and will allow one dog. Dogs are not allowed on any furniture. We ask you follow our dog rules which we will be provide to you. Enjoy our cable and WiFi with Xfinity starting June 4, 2020, VCR/DVD and a stereo system. My family decided to pretend it was summer vacation for one more weekend. Had a great stay at Gibb’s retreat. Really appreciated the close proximity of the boat ramp, and having a boat dock on property. Loved the location of the house near Bridgewater, and thought the house absolutely suited our needs. I imagine sitting on that back porch would be sublime in the fall!

This house was perfect to make our smith mountain lake vacation complete. Everyone from our 3 year- to the preteens, teen agers, adults, and even our dogs LOVED this location and home. We loved having two master bedrooms. The kids enjoyed a game room all to theirselves. We got quite the work out from the steps, and we enjoyed taking afternoon walks in the neighborhood seeing all the deer! The property managers were very responsive, and readily available to help with any problems. The only downfall was being in the open channel, the guys had trouble catching any fish, but besides that we LOVED this house.

Our stay was very nice at a beautiful home in an awesome area. The weather was great the wildlife were enjoyable and we had loads of fun on the lake. I can't forget 'the ice cream boat' either. Nice touch!

We had a wonderful week's stay at Gibbs Retreat! Fully stocked kitchen with all the cooking utensils, pots, pans, and serving dishes needed to take care of our party of 8. Only complaint it's located on the main channel of lake and a boat lift would be nice to keep your boat from rough rocking in the wakes of passers by. Outside of that, we had a fabulous time and the Gibbs Retreat met all our needs!

Beautiful home that included just about everything you’d need. The neighborhood is lovely and quiet. The hosts were wonderful and quick to respond to questions.
When we’re at the lake, our family loves to swim off the dock and enjoy the more quiet water activities like paddle boarding and kayaking. This location had extremely busy boat traffic which was loud and kicked up lots of wake and waves. If you will have a motor boat then this probably won’t bother you and you will enjoy the activity of this area on the lake.
It rained for lots of our trip so we were inside more than we hoped. Thankfully this was enjoyable because the house is so amazing.

We really enjoyed our stay at this property, the property was well stocked with anything one would need for family of eight. In hindsight I would have looked for property on a cove; on the weekends water traffic is high and water very turbulent, difficult to enjoy the small beach. Also home was dusty upon arrival but other than that no real issues.

We came to fish...comfortably, and so we did. Recently updated with new bathrooms, kitchen, and appliances. One of the best equipped kitchens on the planet. Centrally located to stores, shopping. Easy unloading ground floor kitchen. Great place for a family with plenty of spce for the kids. Owners responded quickly to minor electrical problem. We will be back! Can't go wrong here!

We always have a few days away to recover from the Christmas rush and ring in the New Year with our friends. This was a wonderful place to do just that. Plenty of outdoor seating. The house was very well equipped and spotlessly clean. We will definately be booking again for next year.

We decided to get out of the city and go to SML for Xmas this year. This property was one of the better ones we’ve stayed at. This house is well stocked and the owner has kept everything well maintained. The owner lives nearby and is very responsive. Heating, hot water worked great, and plenty of kitchen supplies. Sheets/towels/bedding provided. Deck and living room both offer excellent views of the northern branch of SML. Looked like you could maybe swim off the dock in the summer. We’re looking for a way to come back!

Betty was very helpful in securing the rental property as well as a boat to enjoy the lake.
The property is nicely appointed with all the things you need for an enjoyable vacation. The deck provides a nice view of the lake to enjoy while reclining or having a meal. The dock allows for sunbathing or diving in the lake for fun or floating in the water.
We had a great stay and would highly recommend this property for enjoying Smith Mountain Lake. The Moneta Farm and Home Supply store is a must visit stop, especially if you enjoy antique chainsaws and the like!!!

Place is great, everything you need in one home. Spacious dock with beach area, big deck overlooking the water. Inside has 2 separate living room areas so kids can get away from time to time. Bathrooms all well updated and rest of the home maintains kinda retro feel to it in a cool sorta way. Kitchen was about as well stocked with pretty much everything you'd have at home for cooking and included a few of the essentials that you just take for granted until you realize something missing and have to make separate run to the store for. Plenty of room for parking and even had a few tubes floating toys in the garage. Excellent communication as well, great experience.

Eight of us including my wife and I , our three grown children and their significant others, 2 of which are expecting spent a fantastic week. House is 5 minutes by boat to Bridgewater Marina.House slept 8 easily, the kitchen is well stocked. House is very clean and cozy. Great deck overlooking the lake. Some steps down to the dock and small Sandy beach. Dock held our boat and 2 jet skis easily. Betty Ann was a great host.. very responsive always ready to help….we have rented for 9 years at SML and this place rates at the top

Gibbs lake house was the perfect get away for my family. We were only there for 2 nights but we enjoyed every minute. The house is clean and comfortable. We had everything we needed and more. The location was perfect and the lake was amazing. I would definitely stay here again!

Location was great. Owner communication was great. The layout of the house and the back deck were great. Like other reviewers have mentioned, the basement smells musty even though the owner has a dehumidifier running constantly. It didn’t bother us though because we didn’t use the basement very much. My wife had left some things there and with the owner’s help we did not have any problem retrieving them the next day.

Right on the lake, very well stocked house. Quiet at night after the boat traffic stops, we have no complaints. Betty was very responsive and made sure we were good to go.

Gibbs Retreat was just what we needed to enjoy some rest and relaxation! Much more room then we needed but worth it! The deck was our favorite hang out spot. Master and hall bathroom were recently remodeled and were perfect. Stairs to dock are plentiful and probably no issue for most. Furnishings are a bit dated but in good condition. We hope to return with family & friends. Host was very attentive.
