Back for our second time. We love all the space, the location right up against the forest, and the coziness of the cabin for family time. The house is well stocked, beds are comfortable, lots of places to sit and relax, and a whole forest to explore. It is so quiet and serene also. Communication with the host was easy and quick. We will definitely come back (and cross our fingers for snow!).

Just what we were looking for to celebrate a family birthday milestone (40):) Great place for the family to relax and to gather for conversations and fun games(charades especially). Kitchen well equipped. Small children able to play in the forest and plan all sorts of adventures in their "Mountain Mansion". Beautiful memories to be cherished for years to come!

Space and accommodation was great especially as we had a baby and young child with us. The twin room for the children was a lovely surprise especially the full toy box. Like many places we have stayed in in mountainous areas of CA it is rural and rustic. It would benefit from some updating of rugs etc but that did not take away from our stay.

It was not my intention to have to put this review here, but I tried to reach out directly to the owner(s) to let them know they had an issue and they did not respond. First, the house is cozy and in a great neighborhood. We wanted a place that had some ability to play and sled in the snow at the property, and this place fit that bill quite well. Our kids really enjoyed sledding in the backyard. The house needs some general interior updating, but that was understandable. The problem was rodents. My wife and I opted to stay in the room upstairs and to the left with the queen bed in it because it is across from the room with the two small beds for our youngest children, instead of the larger bedroom downstairs. We did not sleep much at all. There was constant noise and scratching from rodents in the ceiling and in the exterior wall. It was loud, pronounced, and clearly indicative of multiple rodents. It went on all night, and made it impossible to sleep well. We did not experience any rodents in the house, but the noise was extremely disconcerting and distracting. The second night my wife and I slept on the couches in the living room instead of the bedroom. We still went in the room to change, keep our bags, etc and the second night had just as much activity. After the first night I went outside to look at the exterior wall. It has several holes all over the portion leading to the crawl space above the room and the wall itself. There are significant scratch marks all over the exterior wall. It’s pretty clear that there is some significant number of rodents in the walls and ceiling. After we got home, I sent the owner(s) a text message letting them know about our experience to let them know the problem was distracting. After being responsive to all other communication, no one has responded days later. This problem should be addressed, and I decided to put a review here, since my guess is they know about the problem and are choosing to let it continue because the money continues to come in. 1k for 2 evenings (including the place, taxes, cleaning fees, etc) is a significant amount for folks, and this issue could ruin an otherwise good trip. This problem should be addressed immediately.
