Mango peach october 2023

Heidi the owner is so kind and helpfull. She made sure to be there to welcome us and show us the accommodation. She also answered our questions about Volcano park with the same kindness. The place is lovely with a barbecue, a private terrace, a washing machine. Beach towels, umbrellas, hats are also free to use for you to go to the beach. 100% recommanded

Beautiful and Cozy

I really enjoyed our stay here. Heidi is super nice and welcoming. She showed us the way in when we first arrived and provided us some places to visit! It was always very peaceful there, I loved opening the curtains while I cooked. She even gave me some mangos on our departure that were absolutely delicious! I highly recommend this for someone that wants something cozy and beautiful. They have pretty much everything you could possibly need for your stay here. I would maybe recommend a small blender and/ or an oven safe dish which we didn’t find but also not absolutely necessary. Beautiful and Quiet

It was wonderful to be met and greeted by Heidi. it says a lot about a host who takes the time to do this and share about themselves and favorite places to visit. The guest house was clean, and quiet with all the amenities you would need for a visit. It’s walking distance to a couple of beaches and the local free trolley. But the trolley runs on island time so don’t expect it on the posted schedule. 😂

The stay at Mango Retrait was great. The accommodation is huge and excellently equipped. The kitchen has everything you need. The terrace is very inviting and cosy. In addition, there is a barbecue on the terrace which you can use. Heidi is an excellent host and extremely helpful. You can write to her at any time and you will receive an answer within a short time. We can definitely recommend the accommodation.

Host Heidi has a really good taste in her home. Very cozy in her place and we felt relaxed after a long day trip. quite enjoyed the quietness in the neighborhood. Easy to contact Heidi. We called uber when staying there. No problem to reach snorkeling place, coffee farm and Kona center.

Very nice place. Clean, well maintained & much "Aloha". Highly recommended!

Hosts was very nice & helpful. Very beautiful place and well kept. Easy to find. Good parking.

Bed was rather hard. Hot water for showers was not constant, went from hot to cold continually. No exterior light on the stairway turn, problematic.

We loved or stay. Rent a car and explore the island!

Location is great…. easy walk to the beaches on Ali’l Dr. Beautiful private studio detached from owners home with well equipped kitchen and bathroom. Also has an outdoor space with tropical plants and trees to cool you down on those warmer days along with an out door shower. The owner is lovely and very helpful. We’d go back to stay again!

Amazing getaway

The woman who owns the property is one of the nicest people we had ever met. The place is very nice and clean, super unique, and at a very good price. It’s private but also a walking distance to the beaches and a very lovely little store.

A Quiet Retreat

Mango Retreat was quiet little cottage in back of the host’s house. Since it was in a neighborhood, we could hear children’s voices at times, and sometimes a dog barking or music playing, but it was never loud or long lasting. The private garden was lovely, with plenty of seating, places to hang clothes to dry, a hose to wash off sandy or salty items, and on the side, a hot outdoor shower. (there is a shower indoors too.) lots of bath products are provided, both indoors and outside. A cute kitty came to visit occasionally. The kitchen had everything needed to cook and eat with, and there were some food staples either provided by the host, or left over from other guests. If you need to cook eggs, or fry something, you use the gas burner on the grill outside. I cooked a quick bolognese sauce on the electric wok indoors. It worked well. The bedroom is small, but the bed is comfortable, and the AC gets the room nice and cool. Several cooler bags, beach bags, beach towels, beach chairs, and umbrellas are provided. A smart tv was provided with Netflix.

In the bedroom, there is no place to store clothing. The closet is big, but the shelves are high up. We improvised by laying clothes out on chairs in the closet. There is no place to put a chest of drawers in the room, but perhaps a cubby could be built in the closet. The path to Mango Retreat is quite dark at night, almost to the point of being unsafe. I would suggest better lighting. I would also suggest that a binder be provided, with beach, restaurant, and other recommendations and information inside.

The perfect launch pad for adventure

I fell so lucky that I found Mango Retreat. I wasn’t interested in an expensive tourist filled hotels. The Mango Retreat is it’s own special place. If you want to feel like a local, relaxing under a charming patio under a huge mango tree after a long day exploring the island this place it for you. Fresh mangoes, a friendly little kitty, and plenty of green geckos to make you smile. The bathroom and kitchen areas where fully equipped, there was even an outdoor shower if you wanted to feel closer to nature. The guest house is a few blocks up from the main road, but the only thing you’ll hear is various birdsongs and the occasional ripe mango crashing to earth. This visit surpassed my expectations in every way
