Island Loving
This was the second time we rented this property and it was even better than the first. The new dock was great for the boat, fishing and swimming. Having your own island allows you to enjoy bit morning and afternoon sun. A really great place to stay on the lake.

Best Place to Spend A Family Vacatiom
It was a slice of paradise in the one of the best parts of the lake. The property was perfect for a family getaway and a great way to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Beautiful sunsets were only outdone by the tranquil morning sunrises glistening across the water. Simplicity with a homey touch, plenty of amenities, and fantastic communication with the property owners made the week relaxing, peaceful, and stress free.

Everything about our week on Devens Island was wonderful. Steve and Brenda met us on the dock when we arrived and showed us around the island. The house was charming, comfortable, and spotless. We loved all the sitting areas around the island -- the deck, the fire pit, the hammock, and the beach. Our kids' friends visiting enjoyed camping out in the bunkhouse, and we loved picking blueberries from the bushes all around the island. All in all, perfect location, perfect house, perfect vacation!

There is not enough great things I can say about Devens Island.
The sunrises are beautiful and the sunsets are equally spec tacular given the 360 degree view of being on the island. Anything you would want to make a great family getaway is available. Swimming dock, private beach with a great swimming area, a private cabin separated from the main house for the kids, a breezeway with beautiful views, easy access by boat to all the great lake areas and what we liked best was watching the early morning sunrise and the evening sunset from two spectacular vantage points. Steve was so nice and everything promised on the VRBO posting was spot on.
I miss the serenity already..........

Beautiful Island Getaway!
A gorgeous spot to relax and enjoy the lake! The camp is cozy and has that special Lake Winnipesaukee charm that is a must for a true island experience. We've been to many islands on the lake, but this is special. The location and privacy make it a great experience that is rare these days on the lake. There are many places on the island to just sit and enjoy the view from sunrise to sunset. I love to listen to the loons calling while sitting on the dock.
The bunkhouse was a great spot for the kids to sleep and enjoy their own "private" island experience. The outdoor shower is a great touch to really get you in the island frame of mind. We also loved sitting around the fire pit at night. There are great adventures to be had kayaking around the surrounding islands nearby.
The owners were great. We had a great time and will be back!

A UNIQUE experience for those both near and far!
Although this property is the perfect getaway for those who do NOT live on the lake, it is also a great idea for those who are NEAR! My family actually lives on the mainland of Lake Winnipesaukee. We decided a "stay-cation" was in the cards for us this year. We wanted a completely DIFFERENT experience, without having to drive or fly far away. We learned that there are VERY few private islands on the lake for rent. In fact this is the only one we found that met all of our needs:
Nature, beautiful authentic lake house, private bunk house for the kids, 360 degree views, boat dock, kayaks, fire pit, and also important to us, was not having to worry about our dogs running free. The surrounding water is crystal clear, and we all enjoyed floating, laughing, family time, friends coming to visit, and the feeling of "escape" from daily life. I highly recommend this island retreat - we also found the owners very pleasant to work with. They kindly got us oriented when we arrived. WE WILL be back!

The minute you dock, the level of care and thoughtful design is evident on the property. Walkways throughout were lined with solar lighting that led to several kayaks and a private dock with a generously sized sand bottom swimming hole, the charming bunkhouse (which slept 6) with its own fire pit and wooden oars to perch open the windows and to the house deck with plenty of seating and hosted amazing views of the lake. We discovered quickly that we weren't alone when a baby otter popped up for a visit while doing his rounds! The loons were also not shy to approach the east side of the island pretty regularly. There were plenty of beds to accommodate all of our guests and lots of extra blankets for the chillier evenings. We fell asleep to the sounds of loons and woke to waves splashing ashore. The home was just recently renovated and was well equipped with everything we needed for our week long stay from kitchen appliances and extra towels to games, puzzles and an entertainment center for outdoor tunes! There are two showers, one inside and one outside and our large party never ran out of hot water. The weekends were filled with typical lake energy and the homes are all private enough that we never felt as if we were bothering anyone with our fun. We spent most of the day playing on the water, coming and going just tooling around on the boat and fishing off the shore and in kayaks (great fishing btw!). Our evenings were spent mostly on the deck eating and playing games, with the exception of one colder nite where we made a fire on the wood burning stove inside and got cozy on the couch while adoring the tapped fireplace 👍 (you'll see). Although isolated on an island, we always felt safe with the neighbors being just across the water who generously offered help anytime. The island is centrally located, easily accessible for visitors or food shopping and strategically positioned for some of the best sunsets I've seen while still feeling isolated from lake traffic. This home truly offers the best of everything for a large group. We will certainly be returning!
