There's a special advantage to the Pelican Point homes at Pajaro Dunes. Being at the most private, expansive portion of the beach means true serenity. Our condo faces Santa Cruz for those lovely sunsets. We're at the point, and you'll enjoy fabulous views & quiet! Our home is professionally managed by a property management company. Whether you're looking for a quick weekend getaway or a vacation on the beach without the expense and hassles of distant travel, Pajaro Dunes, located equidistant from Monterey and Santa Cruz is an ideal location. Enjoy a relaxing 'stay-cation' in our gated community which offers 24/7 on site security, private beaches, and natural wonders. Please note that all BBQ's in the Pelican condos have been removed due to HOA policy. Birding enthusiasts enjoy an array from curlews and dowitchers to avocets and egrets to cormorants and pelicans, and much more.
Pelican 55 is a lovely 2 bedroom, 2 bath home on the first floor with direct access to the beach. This was originally a 3 bedroom home, recently remodeled to allow more open & spacious living areas. Our covered patio and living room’s large windows face toward Monterey, giving you a full view of the Pajaro River, the ocean and lots of seabirds & wildlife. Ocean waves can be seen making their way up the wide beach, too. Step off the patio to the boardwalk and a short walk to the beach. You'll find the beach is pristine and quiet - your own oasis! Because we face southwest, we enjoy beautiful sunrises over the river while avoiding the uncomfortable winds often found in the evening at sunset. When it cools down, electric heat keeps you warm. There is also a bird sanctuary about 25 yards away protecting the rare birds.
If you are up for more than sunning on the beach, there are a number of activities such as biking, jogging, world famous golf, kayaking, surfing, whale watching, and scuba diving available in the area. There are tennis, sand volleyball, and basketball courts on the premises.
Santa Cruz is a short drive away and great fun for the kids and the young at heart. Don’t forget the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Fisherman's Wharf, Cannery Row, and the great restaurants in Monterey, as well as great restaurants and shops just a few miles away in Moss Landing. Carmel and Big Sur are wonderful day trips as well! You can buy fresh fish at Moss Landing for preparing in our fully equipped kitchen.
Pelican 55 is fully equipped and furnished for 5 adults. 2 bedrooms ( NEW King bed & two Twin beds as of Nov 2020), a daybed and a double sofa bed in the living area, up to 7 with children can be accommodated. Extra little ones? The sofa sleeper and day bed would be great for them. Both bathrooms have recently been remodeled. One has a shower, and the other has a bathtub with shower. Soft white bathrobes are there for your comfort. This home offers high speed internet and HDTV and Blu-ray in both the living room and the master bedroom! All complimentary. The unit is about 1332 sq. ft.
There is a lobby store inside the north gate (look for the 'Shorebirds' entrance sign) that sells beer and wine, as well as clothing, gifts, and snacks. You can also borrow a book or movie (free!) while you’re there, and pick up the daily newspaper, hot coffee, free sports equipment, ice, and nearly anything you may have forgotten. Ask about the fabulous kites!

The house was great for larger families. It would be great if some of the “decorative” furniture could be removed…also not a great home for crawling toddlers. There were a lot of trinkets that we had to move up during our stay. Also, definitely no beach views as advertised. But overall very fun experience!

We had a wonderful stay we especially loved the large deck space and easy access to the beach. Kitchen was loaded with supplys. They need a new toilets -they were kid size in both bathrooms. Overall it was another incredible trip to Pajaro Dunes. Its the best seashell and Kite flying beach ever.Michael-Anna-Ruby-Miles-Willow-Skylee

A cousins' trip to Pajaro Dunes is the highlight of each summer. This year was the first we found the accommodations to be lacking. This unit would really benefit from taking care of some overdue maintenance items (we had to have a sink and shower repaired), including black mold around faucet bases and very worn cookware and pillows. The unit smells musty, like it is not often used. It has layer after layer of decor everywhere -- so much so that we had to clear off tables to hold our things. The clutter made it not relaxing and restful like most of your units are. The unit has a nice location and layout, so we are hopeful that reviews like this one will help encourage some maintenance and updates to take place.
