A group of eight of us just completed our four night stay. House was awesome and our host, Kim, was also fantastic! I highly recommend this house and the additional boat option to get around. We would definitely all go back.

This vacation was a getaway for our family of 4 adult couples, and a toddler. A time to reconnect and relax, but also have some adventure and try new things. This property delivered! It was spacious enough to accommodate everyone comfortably, but intimate enough that we were spending time together. We had no shortage of fun things to do…from the ‘tourist’ things like Creek Street and lumberjack shows, to the more ‘locals’ experiences’ that Kim directed us to, we loved it all! Renting the boat opens doors to all these adventures…it’s a must.

We enjoyed this place very much. Super location. Great getaway. Caught lots of salmon! Kim was a wonderful host, helpful and always available.

A true Alaskan experience. Property is situated at the heart of it all. Best location and view in Ketchikan. Fishing grounds nearby. Kim is a outstanding host! 10/10

We stayed at Kim’s place for a week with friends to celebrate my youngest son’s high school graduation. The property was well maintained and Kim was a super helpful host. The area is so beautiful! There was some debris that were on the island but that is life in Alaska. The boat was an added bonus and made our trip to town quick and easy. We saw whales, bear, seals, otter, eagles and the fishing was good. We had great luck with our crab pots that Kim showed us how to use and where to go. So hard to come back home after staying at this location for a week. We would highly recommend this house. Kim - thank you for a wonderful stay. You are AMAZING!!

We really enjoyed our stay at this property, Kim was a great host. She responded quickly to our questions, showed us how everything worked and provided us with information about activities we were interested in. Our group consisted of 4 couples, and the house easily accommodated us. The view from the deck was beautiful and being on the island and only a 7or 8-minute boat ride to Ketchikan was very nice! There are some minor maintenance issues that need attention but nothing major. Again, the house was just right for our group and located in a beautiful location!

This house is in a great location and perfect for a group fishing trip. The hot tub, fishing preparation room, garden area, outdoor bar, and dock are very nice. It is in a beautiful location and having the boat to take out is really great. There is no internet service - only cell signal which is very strong. We rented the house for August 6-13. On the 7th one of the boat engines was alarming and not functioning as soon as we started heading out. The repair shop determined the oil had run out and the engine was shutting off. On the 8th the house ran out of water. The cistern and back-up tank had run empty. The owner said it would be the next afternoon until we would know if we would have water for the remainder of the trip. Despite providing drinking water and trying to run a hose from the creek to the tank, getting enough water was unsuccessful and we were told we would have to leave. The rest of the day was spent frantically trying to find somewhere else for 6 people to stay while packing up clothes and groceries and making arrangements to get off the island. We were able to find a two-room apartment in town in Ketchikan and arrange for two fishing charters. We lost the boat and self-guided fishing trips, ocean-front view, and space we had planned for as well as an entire day of our vacation coordinating changes. The biggest issues for us were that both the oil and water problems were due to lack of maintenance. The summer had been unusually dry, which cannot be helped, but the water tanks had not been checked to ensure there would be water. Also, the owner never offered to help us find other accommodations or transportation to them. Before we left, the owner assured us we would be refunded for the rental. The fee VRBO charges as well as the tax is based on the rental fee. The difference between an 8 day and a 3 day rental is significant. The owner refunded the house and boat days 9-13 as well as the boat for the day it went to the shop. She refused to refund the portion of the VRBO fee and part of the taxes assessed which was quite a lot. We should have processed a cancellation through VRBO rather than rely on the owner to refund the amount. We were so busy making other arrangements we just didn’t think of it at the time. Overall, it is a great rental in a beautiful location. Having the boat for self-guided fishing is wonderful. Just be aware that water could be an issue and if it is, you are out of luck and on your own.

We had a wonderful week with our family, which included our adult daughter, teenage son, my daughter and son-in-law, and our two year old grandson. The house fit all of us easily. The weather was exceptionally sunny and we took advantage of it by spending most of our days in our rented boat. The house was secluded yet just a short hop from town. Kim made the trip worthwhile with her joyful personality and instant assistance whenever needed. We used the hot tub, the crab cookers, the fish processing room, the cleaning station on the beautiful dock, and the well stocked kitchen. We look forward to coming back if we can find an opening in the schedule. Thank you Kim for an amazing family vacation!

The house is very nice, with a well-stocked kitchen. Covered front porch is great for watching whales and boat traffic in Tongass Narrows, also a great spot to watch the sun set behind the islands at the end of the long summer days. The location is very convenient to Ketchikan and the airport; as well as, several good fishing spots within a few minutes. The dock is in great shape with a fish-cleaning station at the end. Kim is a great property owner and was very responsive to our needs. I would highly recommend this VRBO.

I don't think I can say enough good things about the property and manager Kim. I think every person in our group said it was the coolest trip we have ever been on. She helped out so much as the host and taught us a lot about Southeast Alaska. The home is everything you could ever want in vacation fishing home. The dogs were another added bonus for us as we had all left pets at home. If you are thinking about booking, dont hesitate, it is absolutely worth it.

2021 Family Fishing Trip
Kim was a wonderful host and we had a fantastic time staying at her house on the water. Evenings on the deck watching the sunset were amazing, as was the fishing. Would definitely come back.

I'm not a morning person but I was up at 4am every morning to take in the incredible sunrise over the calm waters, so quiet and peaceful, I could spend the entire summer here.
Kim is an excellent host and has all your needs covered and is also there immediately for anything unexpected.
The town, with groceries and restaurants, is only a short boat trip away.
We were picked up in a boat right from baggage claim.
Plenty of space, we were a family group of 11 people. We had everything we needed to make big nightly family dinners which always included crab caught that day.
We saw orcas, other whales, otters and lots of bald eagles. Great hiking trails accessible only by boat are nearby.
Can't wait to return

Wow! Exceeded Expectations
This was a trip my 13 year old daughter and I had planned for around a year. The entire experience was nothing short of amazing. The views, the house, the fishing, and especially the host! Kim is nothing short of a class act and we became friends in short order. Her knowledge of the local area, wildlife and servant spirit, set the bar!

Kim's place is lovely, plenty of space for a large group and a wonderful kitchen for cooking and eating together. The beds were comfortable and the location is beautiful. Kim is a great host, quick to respond when questions came up. We had a wonderful time on Pennock and hope to return!

This property is perfect for fishing on your own in Ketchikan! Easy to go north or south. The accommodations are clean and the kitchen and the bedrooms setup is perfect for a big group. Kim was amazing in her communication when we had questions and really went the extra mile to make sure our Ketchikan experience was over the top. We are already excited for our trip here next year!

Awesome Location, Everything You Need And Then Some!
Just back from our first trip to Ketchikan. Won't be our last.
Our group ranged in age from early 70's down to 9 months old. My wife and I, and my wife's recently widowed sister, made up the oldsters. Then our son and daughter-in-law, and the three grandchildren, two girls ages 6, 2 1/2, and the 9 month old baby boy. No complaints from anyone, and the two girls really liked the place: Tide pools, big TV and Bald Eagles.
The bedrooms were quite comfortable and the two bathrooms more than adequate (and if you require a shower that will accommodate the tallest of us, this is your place). The kitchen would rate as extremely well laid out with a spacious preparation table in the middle. Lots of plates and bowls, coffee mugs, glasses and silverware; all the needed cooking tools, mixing bowls, etc. Even a BBQ on the deck and an industrial strength crab boiler down by the beach.
For the fisherman there is a fillet table, vacuum packers with bags and a large chest freezer, everything for us do-it-yourselfers. The supplied fishing tackle is of reasonably good quality. Several crab pots and a few shrimp pots are provided. We ate a lot of crab and a decent amount of shrimp, but thank the Lord my son was along to pull the pots. The girls excelled at crab measuring duty.
And thanks to Kim Kirby who met us at the airport as we picked up our luggage, gave us an orientation cruise as we headed to the house, remained available throughout our stay, and then dropped us at the airport again when time to go. Thanks again Kim.

Alaska Experience
This was my first time making reservations through VRBO so I was a little hesitant about the process and what to expect from the property. Turns out, I had nothing to worry about. Kim is amazing and took care of every little detail, answering all of our questions and concerns before our arrival. Upon arrival, Kim made us feel right at home and gave us a true, fantastic Alaskan experience - even taking the time to teach us how to cook our crab. It was nice to know Kim was in a cabin within walking distance should we need anything.
Captain George was great. He took us out on our first full day there and we had our limit of crab within a few short hours. He taught us everything we needed to know to fish on our own for the remainder of the trip. We went mid-June and caught Halibut, Pink Salmon, Snapper, and Rock fish. We talked to several people who were fortunate enough to catch King Salmon. Boat rental was excellent. Cleaning station and vacuum packing supplies on site.
The home has 4 bedrooms with plenty of comfortable beds and pillows for our group of 7 with beds to spare. Kitchen is fully equipped with good quality cooking supplies - everything we could possibly need and more. Fully stocked spice rack was a minor detail that was appreciated. Washer and dryer with laundry soap on site was great for washing our fishing clothes. Hot tub was relaxing after a long day of fishing. Porch was so inviting and where we spent most of our time at the home, watching wildlife and ships. Eagles feasting on the leftover scraps from each day's catch was always entertaining - we counted 28 at one feeding! Kids enjoyed the private dock fishing, looking for starfish and catching crab.
Overall beautiful location and excellent experience!

Exactly what my group was looking for!
Our group consisted of 2 older gentlemen, 1 millennial, and 2 fisherman. Therefore..have a broad spectrum of personalities, needs, and wants.
The Home provides all the relaxation and calm anyone could ever expect. Between the lapping waves, fresh air...one cannot go wrong.
The home is nestled into a small bay with a boat ramp which is connected to your home away from home (you no longer need to get “picked” up and taken to your fishing boat. Once you arrive, the boat is yours to use (given that certain ROL’s are signed) at any given time. There is no curfew on the boat....you can fish a hot bite as long as you’d like, or you can stay at a restaurant/bar longer, and even spontaneously take the boat out on a relaxing cruise through the canal and anchor into one of the many calm bays nearby!
We booked Kim’s place because we really wanted to be as close to the real Alaska experience as possible. We no longer wanted the curfew, the time regimens regarding our meals, and the constant upsell we have experienced elsewhere. We really wanted and got our Alaska experience, moreover, we have Kim to thank for it.
For those of you interested in fishing, Kim’s Home is perfectly situated. You are able to go north or south so as to fish. Both fishing grounds are easily reachable in a hard charging day.
And for those of you who want a mellow day.....5-10 mins after pushing off the dock, you can be on top of salmon/crab/halibut.
We really cannot thank Kim & Nick enough for all the hospitality, and kindness they showed.
The best way to describe Kim’s place is this: beyond the beauty of her home, the bay the Home sits on, or even the excellent boat you are given; Kim’s offer gives YOU the opportunity to do Alaska the way YOU want to do it. You arrive....and then you go.....

We were blessed with a first-class week staging out from Pennock Island.
We were blessed with a first-class week staging out from Pennock Island; great weather, calm seas, cool mornings, hot afternoons, with no rain! The shrimping and crabbing is very decent a short distance away. We even pulled up an octopus in a shrimp pot. There is good bottom fishing an hour boat ride south, from the busy Ketchikan Port and Float Plane Airport.
We self-guided with two very nice folks from Illinois on their brand-new amazing 33-foot boat they recently purchased in Wrangle, Alaska by Svendsen Marine Works. I can’t forget to mention the two friendly neighborhood dogs (Poppy and Dude) that escorted us down the dock in the mornings and happily greeted us upon our return each afternoon.

THE Way to Experience Ketchikan
From the first time I was in contact with Kim I felt like we were going to be in good hands and that is exactly what happened. She made sure we knew what we were getting into before we arrived. Upon arrival for our week long stay, she gave us a tour filled with information that made us feel right at home from everything fishing to use of the house to area activities. The two boats we rented were clean, comfortable, top of the line vessels capable of taking us where ever we wanted to venture. Our stay was filled with beautiful views right off the deck/hot tub and exploring far off islands for fish and wildlife. At the end of the day the house was superbly comfortable and a perfect way to recharge before the next day's adventure. I have the utmost confidence in recommending this rental to anyone that wants to be on their own fishing, crabbing and relaxing in the Ketchikan area. We will return when we get back to Ketchikan.

Bucket list stay!!
Our group of 6 best friends had the best fishing vacation at Kim's house! From the start of the booking process to the point that Kim dropped us off at the airport everything was great. Kim was quick to answer any questions and concerns, I was happy to hear that she had a dutch oven in the kitchen so I could bake a loaf or two of fresh sourdough bread. When she picked us up she us showed where to get fuel for the boats, free ice in the mornings and where to do our shopping.
We we're all amazed at her house, well stocked kitchen, comfy beds super clean and plenty of room for our group. The big covered patio was a great place to sit while BBQing and take in the view. After a long day and big dinner the hot tub was a great way to relax and plan our next day. We opted for the two boats which worked out perfectly, three to a boat we fished every day. The cleaning and packing was super easy, there's everything you need vacuum pack and freeze your catch for the trip home.
Kim pointed us to the right location for dungeness crab, set the pots let them soak for the day, we ended up pulling 14 crabs on our fist try! There's a huge crab pot and gas burner setup below the deck right next to the fish cleaning station. That night we ate our fill in crab grilled salmon and fresh garlic sourdough bread.
We can't thank Kim enough for being a fantastic host and making our vacation one we will never forget. I would highly recommend staying at Kim's (Angler's Dream House) for your next Ketchikan fishing vacation!

Outstanding property
We rented Kim's amazing spotless VRBO, Aug 10-17, for our annual fishing trip with my two brothers and a close friend. We had a total of four in our group.
We wanted to fish right away once we landed and hooked up with Capt Rich. Prior to arriving we texted Capt Rich and he provided priceless information on what was productive.
Kim is amazing, witty, and we enjoyed her company. She was just a text message away.
Capt Mike was helpful too, he gave us some tackle and suggested we follow him out fishing if we wanted. He suggested we dial into channel 10 on the CB radio. This is the channel the local fisherman utilize. This was a priceless tip and we used it for valuable fishing chatter.
We all enjoyed this quite private location. Having a nearby Coast Guard Station gave me a peace of mind when fishing.
We had a nice week of fishing and relaxing, as we all thought the hot tub was a nice plus to kick off the day and soak in after a long day of fishing.
Crabbing was new to us and after a thorough overview by Capt Rich we were ready to soak-the six pots that were provided. We waited for the winds to calm and took several trips to the crab grounds. We pickup free salmon heads and shaved ice at Cedars lodge across the bay to bait the nets in the crab pots and load the live well with ice. One of the trips we soaked the crab pots for only one hour, pulled the pots and they were loaded with golden dungeons crabs. Bring thick gloves as you measure the crab keepers those buggers will claw you and draw blood
Well the week went by fast as all good weeks do. Kim loaded the boat using the ATV attached trailer, loaded the boat and cruised us to the airport. Kim gave us pointers on marking our fish boxes we checked in as baggage.
We are planning on returning to Ketchikan next year and Kim's Alaska Remote VRBO is at the top of our list.
The only addition that would make this location out of this world would be Wi-Fi connectivity.

Fisherman’s Paradise
Once we landing in Ketchikan, Kim was awaiting our arrival at this quaint airport. We loaded the boat with our luggage and then she dropped us off at Safeway for a few provisions. Kim them proceeded with our luggage to Pennock Island while we shopped for a few items. We just needed a few items; fruit, bread, corn on the cob, and salad. Safeway is well stocked but the meat is pricey.
Kim was waiting for us at the dock near Safeway after an hour of shopping. We loaded the boat and took the short ride across the harbor to Kim's place.
Kim has an ATV with a small trailer attached available on the dock, as this was very helpful loading luggage and groceries on to because the dock is 400 feet long. This dock is brand new and wide.
Once we got settled, we drew cards for our room assignments. All of the bedrooms were roomy but the master bedroom was HUGE and could have sleep four adults.
We wanted to fish right away and hooked up with Captain Rich. Prior to arriving we texted and chatted with Captain Rich and he provided priceless information on what was productive.
Captain Rich provided a thorough overview of the Pro V’s down riggers, Garmin Navigation system and dual motors. Remarkable, we were on the fish in about three hours after landing. We pulled in three pinks and a rockfish in an hour.
Crabbing was new to us and after a thorough overview by Captain Rich we were ready to soak six pots that were provided. We waited for the winds to calm and took several trips to the crab grounds. We boiled, cleaned, & ate those Dungeness creatures. Stainless steal crab boilers and boiling pots are on site too. We nailed them on both crab runs & brought home a bounty of Dungeness Crabs!
We had a nice week of fishing, relaxing, sea life watching, and gourmet eating. The 103-degree hot tub was a very nice plus. Captain Rich went fishing with us several times and this guy made our trip. He got us dialed into the silvers and pinks.
Captain Rich is knowledgeable and fun to fish with. He kept saying: “their out there”! We enjoyed his company so much we invited him for several evening meals and a few beers in town. Captain Mike was helpful too; he gave us some tackle and recommended fishing techniques. He suggested we dial into channel 10 on the CB radio. This was a priceless tip!
We are planning on returning to Ketchikan and Kim's VRBO is at the top of our list.
Wi-Fi connectivity is the only addition that would make this place outstanding!

Wonderful Experience
Absolutely great place has the feeling of being way out with conveniences just across the bay .Fishing grounds are close making for shorter times to get bait in the water. Crab getting with supplied cages and cooker also a great bonus.
