Wonderful waterfront home with great sunrise and sunset views from the spacious master bedroom. Enjoyed the hot tub and dock overlooking the peaceful water. Close to Yorktown and Williamsburg too. Dont forget to visit Nuttalls Country store up the road for all your grocery needs and great crabcakes and steak too!

Lovely 2 bedroom house right on the water. Beautiful views from all rooms. We enjoyed kayaking and exploring the area. The house was in a great location with easy access to Williamsburg and many other historical sites and parks.

Girls trip to visit colonial Williamsburg and areas. We chose to stay at this cottage for a more peaceful setting. We loved being right on the water and taking advantage of the screened in porch. Host was very communicative and helpful when needed. Would absolutely recommend staying here if you want peaceful and beautiful surroundings. Drive was about 45 minutes to Williamsburg areas but to us very worth it.

So good...best vacation home ever! Thanks soooo much for letting us use it! It really blessed us!

Great place for fishing and having fun with the family

This was our second visit to this lovely home. We stayed a full week and wish we could have stayed longer. It is in a beautiful and charming area of Virginia. The house is mere feet from the water. We loved relaxing to the sound of the waves on the screened porch. There is plenty to do in driving distance including Williamsburg, Busch Gardens, and Jamestown. We took a day trip to Montecello which was absolutely worth the drive. The little country store just down the road is a must-visit. We enjoyed eating at Scoot’s Barbecue and Hole in the Wall which are 20-30 minutes (approx.) away but worth the drive. We also enjoyed exploring the quaint nearby town of Mathews. Check out Southwind Pizza if you go. The home is perfect for a couple or small family. My husband, 11-year-old son, and I enjoying kayaking with the provided equipment. We saw a large bald eagle right on property. Beds were comfy and kitchen was adequately stocked for preparing meals and snacks.

My husband I stayed at Shannon’s place to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. The property is exactly as pictured and did not disappoint. We enjoyed the quiet (two teenagers at home), and using the hot tub at night which provides the perfect view of the moon rising. We would definitely stay here again!!!

This cozy cottage was very clean! With amazing river views from every room!! The upstairs master bedroom was beautiful and the river views were more amazing up there!! Close to shops and restaurants which was great for eating out everyday (loved Olivia’s). The cottage was great for relaxing and unwinding …. Which is exactly what we needed. We hope to return later this year!! Thank you Shannon for having such a lovely place!

We returned for another stay after previously visiting in 2012. I assumed, after 11 years, that things wouldn’t look “quite as fresh” as when the property was new. I was wrong! Everything was just as lovely as we remembered! The furnishings, supplied kitchen items, bedding and overall condition were great. We enjoyed a great meal at Olivia’s in town. Very convenient to surrounding areas. The hot tub was an addition since our prior visit, although we did not give it a try. There is nothing like that wonderful bedroom and bath upstairs! It is a real sanctuary and you can hear the waves lapping the shore from your bed. My husband enjoyed some bird watching as well. We would definitely come back again anytime - especially now that we’re *retired*!!

Love everything about this place- the beautiful views, the comfortable, clean, well decorated interior space, and the friendliness of the owner. We’ll return again and again.

We had the most relaxing time the weather was chilly but we still had some great outside time the house was just as described incredibly clean !!! Looking forward to another stay!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay over spring break! The waterfront view where we could see both sunrises and sunsets was unbeatable. The home was clean and comfortable. The large master suite has amazing views! We didn’t have much time to enjoy the screened deck, but it’s a great place to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning!

House was very clean and as pictured. This location was convenient to Jamestown, Yorktown, Williamsburg, Fredricksburg, Richmond, Virginia Beach and, if you wish as we did, 2.5 hours from DC. We even spent 2 days at the house since the view was so amazing. You will have to try Olivia's in town for dinner and not far from the home Nutall's General Store had it all. We loved the store and they had excellent food to go as well. We have stayed at many VRBO properties over the years and this was one of our favorites. The owners were very helpful and even left the lights on for us.

We booked this cottage for a trip to see the sites in Williamsburg. The house turned out to be the highlight of the trip. The view from the bedroom is stunning. Everything is well curated and comfortable. We will be back.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location was quiet, but it was easy enough to get to Williamsburg, Yorktown and Jamestowne. The house was beautiful and well appointed. There was nothing more that we could need. The owner was attentive, but not intrusive.

The house is beautiful and perfectly located. Shannon the host was very helpful and responded quickly. Will definitely return. I would recommend putting shades on all the windows though. More privacy during the night.

I planned to go to the cottage with a couple friends who ended up cancelling at the last minute, so I went alone and enjoyed every moment. The cottage is super clean and comfortable with everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The area is super quiet and inviting. The cottage is off a quiet backroad so there is no noise or traffic nearby. I have and will continue to recommend this cottage to others and plan on returning next year! You won't be disappointed if you decide to visit this beautiful and well kept cabin!

This is the third time we've stayed in Shannon's place and we absolutely love it there. The house and location are great. Its just a short drive to Gloucester and a Walmart, a brewery, and several restaurants. Yorktown is maybe 20 minutes and its under an easy hour to Williamsburg. When we stay we typically go out for a few hours but want to be back to enjoy a quiet evening from the screened in porch.

The property is even more perfect than the pics and description. Close enough to do a little something every day, but private enough to spend it just lounging, fishing, eating and hot tubbing. We were barely over the bridge when I booked it again for next year! Our new secret, much needed , getaway spot!

The French’s rental is immaculate! The property location was as pictured with a view that allows both sunrise and sunset. The house is spotlessly clean. The decor is completely thought out, yet cozy to make you feel comfortable. The hosts were very accommodating. Highly recommended!

This was an awesome quiet and relaxation experience. It was exactly what we wanted. The views are incredible. Everything is there for a retreat from reality. I would stay there over and over again if dates were available.
