Great Stay
We had a great stay over the 4th of July weekend. The place is just like the pictures and listing, a little dated but very functional and packed with anything you need for a great stay. Our kids loved all the toys, boardgames and time on the canoe.

Our family had a great stay at this cabin. The location was perfect- close to a lake and family-friendly ski resorts. The cabin was super clean and well-maintained. We enjoyed the awesome wood stove and kid enjoyed the toys and well-stocked shelf of games. It was our kid's first time to see the snow and the yard for snow play, lake for exploring, and nearby hills for sledding were perfect for a weekend trip. Highly recommended. Thank you to Alec for being a great host!

What a lovely home! Great location, 10 minutes away from Sugarbowl and 2 minutes from Royal Gorge cross-country skiing. The house has all the basics, nothing fancy but it is clean and has a hypnotic wood stove that warms well (plenty of wood in the back) and that we all enjoyed. Lots of board games for the kids in a closet. Communication with the owner was top-notch and he helped us negotiate the logistics with an incoming big storm. We’d love to stay again!

Thanksgiving Stay
My family stayed here during Thanksgiving week. We had a great time, taking walks, cooking and keeping cozy by the fire. Three spacious rooms and all the items you need to have a comfortable stay. There were even plenty of toys and games to keep my toddler busy. Beautiful lake. You definitely will not go cold during the winter. I definitely would recommend staying at this property.

Cute cabin with super lake access
We loved the 5AChalet. Comfortable, casual and close to the lake. Easy short walk to the dock to canoe and kayak or just enjoy the view and peacefulness. Well stocked with everything you need to enjoy the water, the beach or sitting on the porch. Alec is a very attentive and courteous owner. Highly recommend.

We enjoyed our stay. Would have loved a dishwasher, but we did have plenty of paper plates. Large map of lakes would be nice. Also directions to garbage disposal switch. Gentle brief rain knocked down the smoke from the fires.

Serene Stay
Walking distance to a boat launch and not too far from the swimming beach, Alec’s cabin is in the perfect location to enjoy Serene Lakes. The cabin is well appointed with comfortable beds, lots of cooking supplies and games/toys for all ages. We especially appreciated having the use of a canoe and kayak as it made our lake time extra fun. Serene Lakes lives up to its name; it’s is a wonderfully peaceful place to enjoy Tahoe’s natural beauty.

We loved our stay at Alec's cozy cabin on Serene Lakes. The location is great; right next to the lake, and in a great neighborhood for strolling. The kitchen is well stocked, and we used it to cook some meals. We appreciated hanging out on the front porch. Our toddler loved playing with all the toys and books that were at the house! We would stay there again.

Very clean family home
Alec’s property is in a wonderful location, in serene lakes. We were convenient to sugar bowl for downhill skiing and even tried cross country skiing. The cabin was very warm with a wood burning stove with plenty of space for our family of four. Alec was responsive and very kind. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful long weekend at the cabin. The property is across the street from Serene Lake. The cabin has a kayak and canoe that you can easily walk down to the dock. The cabin was perfect for our needs and I've never stayed at a place where the kitchen was so well-stocked with spices and oils. There is also plenty of paper products, which I really appreciate. The cabin was very clean and the bedding is of high quality. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. Thank you to Alec for also allowing dogs to stay at your cabin! We will be back!

Change of scenery during pandemic
My family and I needed to get away from what has become the norm, work or school online from home. The property we rented was perfect. There were plenty of hiking trails to explore. We used the owner provided kayak and canoe on Serene Lake. And everyone was still able to attend online classes and I was able to check in on work. The cable/Wi-Fi went out once for a few hours but that just got us to go out and enjoy the lake. The house is fully equipped with everything you need with plenty of pillows in the bedrooms and pots and pans in the kitchen. The bed was on the firm side. Thank you Alec for sharing your home with us.

Great cabin at a gorgeous lake
What a fabulous weekend. Firstly, Serene Lake is heaven for kids and dogs - we kayaked and canoed (both provided at the house), paddleboarded (borrowed from a friend), mountain biked, hiked and the street is filled with kids in bikes & families.
Cabin worked really well. Two big bedrooms upstairs and a third downstairs. Lovely living and dining space. House stayed cool in the summer and had fans in the upstairs bedroom. As noted in the description, no dishwasher and the shower is downstairs (bath upstairs) which all worked fine for us. Cabin really well located, right near a little dock or an easy walk/bike ride to the beach.

Sweet, cozy, quiet lakeside cabin - absolutely wonderful
This cozy cabin is only 10 minutes from the highway exit yet very quiet and woodsy - its really surprising that it is only a short drive from the highway. It very well equipped and clean and in such an inviting neighborhood. Across the street from the lake (no motor boats or jet ski's allowed) canoeing, kayaks, and paddleboarders abound. There is an awesome spot along the lake just for dogs and its wonderful to walk around the lake. The hiking nearby is incredible - and walking distance from the cabin. The host provided terrific instructions for getting there and for all the information about the cabin. We loved staying there - it was all around wonderful.

Great stay!
This is a cute, cozy, funky little cabin. Its great value for money, and it has a great location on the lake. The kayak put-in is half a block away, the swimming dock is about three blocks away, and you get afternoon sun on the deck and a glimpse of the lake through the trees. The owner Is friendly and responsive and graciously accepts pets, which is great, because we know traveling with you furry best friend is half the fun. They also provide a kayak and a canoe. The trail access is also just a few blocks away.
As you can imagine at this great price, the kitchen is pretty funky. There is no dishwasher and many of the pans have convex bottoms. There is also no BBQ, so you might want to bring a portable one. The cabinets are overdue for a scrubbing and reorganization.
The beds are verrrrry firm, and the pillows kind of thin so you might want to bring some extra pillows too. The master bedroom is huge, but the bed in there is a double which is a bit snug for two full grown adults. There is only one shower, in the downstairs bathroom. The upstairs bathroom has a tub , but there was no plug when we were there . The toilets were also very low flushing. Be very careful to not put too much toilet paper in!
If you are aware of these caveats and not too fussy you will have a really great time here!

Nice and Easy
Great spot and quick access to the lake. We did not realize that the section of lake that we were near does not allow swimming. You can swim on the other side of the lake, so it worked out fine. It was great having the canoe and Kayak. Only thing that was confusing was checkin (we had not received the attachment) and there wasn’t a checkout list. We just followed steps that are normally expected.

Great place!
My husband and I worked remotely from this cabin for two weeks in August 2020. The owner had just upgraded the wireless internet, so we had no trouble with bandwidth.
It was lovely to be able to hike, run, bike or paddle so easily before or after work, or as a break during the day. There are many options for lovely trails without ever getting in the car. Plus great hikes a short drive away.
Our young adult children joined us for part of the stay and enjoyed themselves as well. We took advantage of the canoe and kayak and borrowed stand-up paddle boards from a friend nearby.
The cabin isn't fancy, but the mattresses and linens are good and the kitchen had all the utensils and gadgets we needed for basic meals.
We'll likely be back!

Serenity at Serene Lake...and our teens loved it too!
What a great cabin! Was looking for a new long weekend escape near Lake Tahoe, but not as crowded (enough space to COVID 19 social distance), and we found that at Serene Lake! Our two teens loved that a canoe and kayak came with the house. The private beach use as part of the home owners association was fantastic and we spent our weekend under a shady tree with our paddle boards we brought with us and used the loaner kayak. The property itself is what you would expect in a cabin...cozy, eclectic decor and the smell of wood from the wood stove in the living room. The kitchen was extremely well stocked with all the dishes, silverware, pots, pans and pantry essentials you could imagine! Comfy beds and two floor fans and a table-top fan came in handy upstairs in the warm afternoons. Our dog particularly enjoyed laying in the front porch watching all the neighborhood dogs with their home owners/renters walk by. We thoroughly enjoyed eating dinner outside every evening at the picnic table on the front porch. The owner, Alec, is very easy to work with too. Overall a great summer long weekend getaway stay!

Spacious, cozy, and comfortable cabin
Spacious 3 bedroom cabin but maintains cozy feel with effective layout and highly efficient wood stove along with gas heaters. Comfortable beds w/ plenty of covers. Kitchen quite well equipped. Great location close to skiing and hiking. Host was very accommodating to our family's schedule and needs. As others have noted, upstairs bathroom only has a tub, but downstairs shower worked out fine for our family as there was plenty of hot water.

A clean and family friend place
The cabin was nice and cosy for a family of 7 people. The beds were comfortable. There were a lot of mosquitoes at night if you leave the doors open. So come prepared with mosquito repellent if you want to enjoy the outdoors at night. Overall, I would highly recommend this place.

Sweet cabin close to the lakes
We had a great time exploring the nearby lakes and trails from this cabin with our family of 4 with two teens and our golden retriever. Pros: lovely, rustic cabin with comfortable beds, good linens, lots of games, canoe & kayak, smart TV for a movie at night, and conscientious homeowner, all in a great location close to the lake. Cons: No grill or dishwasher and in our case, no cell service. Be sure and learn where you can/cannot leave the boats overnight and read all posted signs to avoid incurring additional fees. Vacation in this cabin on Serene Lakes and the trees, lakes and mountains will work their magic on you, leaving you relaxed and happy! We’ll be back!

Great Winter Get-Away
Really enjoyed visiting this house in Serene Lakes. Well-equipped with propane heaters and woodstove that cranks out heat & relaxation. Our family loved all the games, and appreciated the well-provisioned kitchen. The owner Alec was SO helpful, providing detailed info about navigating through the 15-foot snow drifts and giving info about the local sledding hill. House isn't new construction, and living area is on ground floor which means no natural light with the snow piled up outside, but we'd rent again anyway. Fabulous location next to lakes, would love to stay during summer!

Charming Chalet
Charming and well-equipped cabin, the 8 of us spent Xmas holiday and we had a great time. We loved the wood burning stove (sorry Alec we burned through the whole stack), and Alec had just installed 3 brand new propane heaters that made the cabin super cozy.
Heads up there is only one shower, the bathtub upstairs is very romantic but a bit impractical with 8 people trying to get ready at the same time. Other than that we had a great time!
Alec is a great host and we look forward to staying again.
