Our family had a wonderful visit at "The Colonial," which was large and comfy enough to accommodate our party of 8 adults and 6 children. Thoughtfully decorated with delightful seasonal touches, we were also able to easily entertain 10 additional family members (who were staying elsewhere) for our family dinners. It's rare to be able to find quarters large enough for such a large group. Photos are accurate, communication with Matt was first-rate (we were generously allowed an early check-in on a travel day with very wicked weather), and the entire experience was all anyone could have hoped for. Four other members of our party stayed in the smaller adjacent cottage, and this convenience was much appreciated, as well. (It should also be noted that there are accessibility ramps at the larger house, too, which was much appreciated by several in our party.) Plus - and this was extremely popular with our gang - fire pits! All-in-all, a great choice if you're bringing a "whole host of folks" to gather together.

We arrived at the property and it was infested inside and out with midges. I called the owner. He agreed to refund my money. We could not stay at the property. The bedrooms were full of these midges. The owner was completely understanding and had no problem with our refund. I am now trying to get VRBO to refund their service fee. I had to find other arrangements for 15 people. I have booked with VRBO several times in the past with great experiences. Hopefully they meet my expectations and refund the service fee for a property that could not be used. Again, I understand that these midges were nothing that the owner could control and I appreciate that he did the right thing for us.

Loved this charming house. It is very spacious and the 12 of us had plenty of room to be together or apart. Wonderful covered porch and fire pit area where we spent most of our time. It is close to business ( literally behind and beside) which is good for people watching or shopping. The bar has live entertainment which is nice to listen to and not so loud to be intrusive. You can’t hear anything inside. We played games at the huge dining room table. It was clean, the beds were comfortable and all the window air conditioners worked. Had a wonderful time.

Our family of 20 from ages 4 to 74 totally enjoyed our stay at The Colonial for the 3rd time. The owner, Matt, quickly addressed anything we needed. Fishing, swimming, nightly campfires, shops, arcades, music (from the daily bands) and good food at Sportsters, next door, completed our annual family vacation.

This is the 2nd time me and my high school girlfriends have stayed at this house. You can't beat the location. Literally, in the middle of the everything. Lots of room for all 10 of us and the house is clean and stocked with everything you'd need. We have already booked our stay for next year.

Loved our beautiful Colonial weekend stay. Our family takes annual weekend stays in GOTL and it’s always a fun time. For this year, we got the Colonial. From the giant porch, the fireside chairs, the kitchen table, family and friends enjoyed much conversation about the many events and fun times we shared. The beds were super soft and cozy, air conditioners in the rooms work great! The kitchen has everything and the main bathroom is totally renovated with the best shower! Everything was so easy and the grounds are so spacious and pretty. Having an entire row of parking for guests is just another plus. GOTL is always a place we visit for the nostalgia and this time the Colonial trip will be so memorable, thank you!

Perfect for our group of 15 ladies for our birthday celebration. Awesome dining room table for games and conversation. Lots of bedrooms and bathrooms. Entire house could use a good deep cleaning but love the old character of the house. Would definitely stay again!

Cleanliness and maintenance are seriously lacking. Location is prime if you want to be on the strip and can tolerate loud music late at night on weekends. The house served our purpose for needing many bedrooms and it was ok for a few nights but it needs some TLC.

The property is old. Some sinks didn't drain and electrical issues. There were ants and mouse droppings in the kitchen. The property location is awesome. We made due with what we had. Probably won't stay again, but the porch and location are a perk.

We've been coming to The Colonial for a few years now. It's become a tradition that we will never stop. I'll be coming here every summer until they write my name in stone. There is nothing more relaxing than sitting on the huge porch in the evening or sitting around the fire pit and listening to the music from the live bands at Sportsters next door. The convenience of a one minute walk to the strip just cannot be beat. The inside of the house is just beautiful with a huge kitchen and two equally large living rooms. If you have kids, it's a two minute ride to the fun zone. This 69-year old kid rode the go karts twice. Next year, I'll add on the zipline and the bumper boats. There is something for everybody and it's all so close to The Colonial. Thanks very much to owners Matt and PJ for letting us stay and their fantastic house on The Strip! Again, it was a time we will never forget in a beautiful house we are looking forward to coming back to in 2023...and we won't be staying anywhere else but The Colonial at Geneva-on-the-Lake.

Super great place for large families and especially if you have dogs! Huge house with a nice yard and my favorite part was the front porch! If you want a quiet private place this is not it. If you enjoy music and people watching it's a great choice. Sportsterz bar is close by and they had bands every day. Don't worry you can't hear them much from inside. Nice to have ac units in every room. Except kitchen and it was really needed in there. Several in my family have bad backs, I was in room 3 and had a hard time with my mattress. Common issue for me and might not be a problem for others.

Large spacious house that still somehow manages to exude warmth and coziness. Our group really enjoyed the covered front porch and fire pit. The location is ideal- literally right on the strip. There is so much to do and see and we were able to get everywhere easily.

The house was the right size for our yearly Family gathering at Lake Erie. Steep steps for the 3rd floor dwellers but much needed space up there for over nighters. A couple issues with an older house like this but nothing that keeps us from coming back the next year. The owners do a good job of upgrading a few things every year it seems so that is wonderful to see. One problem is parking. Many of the spots at the house keep getting taken from the public and if your not there all the time, your spot could be taken for the day. We think there should be more spaces designated Colonial house parking . Y-town crew

Great location & fun experience @ the Colonial. Love the old wood & appreciated the spaciousness of the home. We enjoyed nightly fires in the fire pit. Kitchen table is beautiful. Plenty of room inside & out. My only recommendation would be to replace or recover furniture in living rooms. We had a great time!

Everything about this place was perfect! We have a large family and we had plenty of room. Large rooms! The house is beautiful and in the perfect location. We were able to walk around the town and check out the shops. The beach was a short drive from the house. We loved the large dining room table. Everything was clean! I can’t say enough good things about this house! We would definitely rent this property again!
