I’ll start by saying that the owner is a very nice person & always available. Pros: The yard is beautiful & the view of the lake is amazing. The kitchen was fully stocked with all that you would need. The bird feeders were filled daily & the animals were abundant. The landscaping is well maintained. Cons: The master bedroom: the door does not lock & hardly stays closed. It is on the main floor outside the livingroom, there’s no bathroom door & is on the front of the house, so no lake sounds as stated in the description. Other bedrooms are on the 2nd floor. Two have a shared bathroom that cannot be accessed from the hall, so the other 2 bedrooms must go downstairs to the kitchen area if you need to use the bathroom. Two of the bedrooms have amazing views of the lake, but the other 2 have zero view. One of the beds had such a hard mattress we had to put blankets down because it was unbearable. Two of the bathrooms had showers, both of which were like camper showers. It was super odd. The master bedroom shower was camper tiny. Overall, the house was nice & the view amazing, but it was not worth 7k for the week. The beach was not a beach day place & many things need improvement. They live in the home full time, so their stuff is everywhere & I found it peculiar, but that’s just my opinion. The home was also very dusty & could have been cleaner. I feel as though an honest review is important because people only know what they’re renting if people contribute

Our family of seven (kids ranging from 7-15) had a wonderful time at Candace's home! All of us loved spending time on the private beach and swimming and skipping stones in Lake Erie. The yard is a series of gorgeous gardens and we enjoyed several suppers on the patio watching the boats on the lake and bald eagles tracking overhead. The house was spacious and very comfortable. Candace isn't kidding about the quality of the furnishings in the home. We appreciated the way she presented the house to us and showed us how to enjoy it without risking damage to anything. She was very attentive to our questions both during booking and with those that came up during our stay. We would love to visit again!

Definitely recommend this property if you are looking for: - Space, peace and quiet. Huge house, listen to birds singing, scampering squirrels, rustle of leaves, rush of water to the shore. - A variety of things one can do both inside and outside the house. A variety of reading material, games, music CDs, exercise equipment, all kinds of pots and pans and cooking equipment. Barbecue outside with party size grill. Lots of chairs and tables outside to dine, relax and just look out into the water. - Cleanliness and organization. Clear and detailed instructions and house rules. Everything that a renter needs is available and arranged in a highly organized fashion. We were never in need of anything because everything was made available. - Clean and complete bedroom/bathroom needs. Thick towels, thick blankets, thick. paper towels and toilet paper. Firm beds, King, Queen, Double size. Easy and convenient lamp and light switches. - Exquisite European interior decor and lighting; wooden floors. Lots of materials inside the house to converse about. Big windows overlooking the beach. - Best beach on that side of Port Colborne. Private, clean, soft, smooth sand that stretches out about 15 meters with water just up to the knee. Very safe. Adirondack/lounge chairs to sit and lounge on the beach. We would spend most of our day on the beach. - The whole house smelled nice, including the basement where disposal bins were located. No foul smell there. Disinfectants available all over the house; highly sanitized property. - Our host Candace kindly touched base to see how we were doing. We would see her assistant, Ted, outside every morning, watering the plants, cleaning the surroundings and filling the bird feed for the birds, squirrels and chipmunks. This routine became a conversation piece every morning as we had our breakfast on the huge dining table. Ted gave us utmost privacy and just did the work outside. We appreciated that. - This vacation was grand! Our best take aways are the clean, beautiful beach; and space, peace and quiet that the property/house offered. We would definitely return and book future vacations. Thank you Candace and Ted!!

Comfortable, luxury getaway with a view!
Comfortable, luxury getaway with a view!
My family (4 adults and 2 children) stayed for 5 nights and we really enjoyed our stay. The bedding and amenities were higher quality than average. The beach area is very nice for swimming. People with mobility issues would not enjoy the stairs, but we didn't mind as the view from the top is worth it- we loved sitting up high overlooking the lake. Candice was very kind and attentive as a host. Be mindful if you are traveling with smaller children- the home is very ornately decorated and you would want to be careful as there are many breakable items. The home is lived in and fully decorated and this was different than other rentals we stayed at but we appreciated that the home really had everything we needed and was very comfortable and beautiful/stunning! We enjoyed seeing the birds and chipmunks and squirrels in their garden in front of the big window. There was 4 bedrooms upstairs and 1 downstairs- all very comfortable. Thank you again for everything, we hope to visit again!!
