Bike store. On road parking. No smoking.. This traditional, detached fisherman’s cottage is located within 100 yards of the harbour of Findochty on the Moray Firth. Nearby is a small pier, where sea angling is possible throughout the year. There is depending on the tide, a small beach at the harbour, and a larger sandy beach within a few minutes’ walk. There are wonderful cliff-top walks, studded with caves, and a challenging 9-hole golf course to the west of the village. Whisky and castle trails are close by, and a boat trip to see the dolphins and seals is a must. Shop, pub and restaurant 200 yards. Free WiFi There are open, steep, spiral or narrow stairs at the property. There are steps within the property. There are low ceilings, doors and/or beams within the property.

Nothing as advertised. No welcome pack. Washing machine broken. No lock on upstairs toilet door. Downstairs toilet door jams and has to be forced open from the outside. No view. Dark dingy and outdated. Outside area very small square overgrown and no furniture as advertised. Not great if your taking a dog.

We have stayed in Findochty a number of times before but first time at this house. It had all we needed for 3 children. Well equipped, loved having a dishwasher and was comfortable. Sandy Brae Cottage is a lovely fishers cottage in the small town of Findochty. There is a small beach a minute walk away. The village only has one pub, didn't eat there but the guy behind the bar was very friendly and very helpful. The kitchen was very well equipped and had a lovely big table to eat and and sit around. The living room was fine for 4 people but needs extra seating if there were more. Comfortable room. The cottage has one double, and 2 twin rooms. Most of the beds could do with a new mattresses. The double room was spacious even with a cot in it. One of the twin rooms was very big and had views of the sea. There was a lack of mirrors beside sockets. Two bathrooms were of a good size but the downstairs one could do with some attention. The cottage has a great heating system and was warm. We all really enjoyed it and would come again.

Unfortunately our stay at Sandy Braes was cut shirt by horrible weather. The cottage was fine although in some parts it could do with a wee tidy up . One thing to beware of is low ceilings I banged my head twice before I saw the sign !! Lovely wee village with a pub that does good food and a shop as well and not to far from Elgin.

I sometimes think that having dogs can be a drawback as cottages are not always clean.

I sometimes think that having dogs can be a drawback as cottages are not always clean. Sandy Brae was tired but clean. I was surprised there was not a welcome pack as the shop was not obvious but l did like the idea of having an emergency food larder. The owners have done a great job in addressing any complaints and comments mentioned in the book. My final comment is you get what you pay for but the important aspect about Sandy Brae was the owners have addressed what is important, home from home and this worked beautifully. Thank you.
