My family and I stayed at this beautiful VRBO for 9 nights over the Christmas holidays. It did not disappoint! It felt like we were living in a tree house in the middle of a jungle. The birds sung to us in the morning and the trade winds kept us cool in the evening. The beaches were close by and within walking distance. Overall, I would highly recommend this VRBO to anyone with families numbering 3 to 6.

Wonderful and relaxing. Our family of 4 including 2 adult sons had a great time. Plenty of room, great location and a wonderful host. Hoping to be back soon. Loved the grey cat too.

Beautiful property located by Diamond Head hiking trail and just minutes walking distance to the beach. The property is well equipped cooking utensils. The host provides beach towels, chairs, and umbrellas. If you’re into fitness and like to workout before starting your day this property has a route for running and walking that is next to the beach. The property is fully gated and secluded surrounded by palm trees just away from all of the busy downtown noise. It was the perfect vacation and highly recommended. The host J LO is amazing and helpful.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at DiamondHead Hidden paradise. The cozy ambiance and thoughtful amenities provided a delightful experience. The location was excellent and was easy to get to our activities. We will definitely come back. Thanks Jlo

What an amazing place!! It is like a tropical jungle paradise. We will be back for sure. Jo was an amazing host.

This is a great spot if you want a nice quiet retreat. Short walk down a steep hill to the water and also very close to Waikiki. Host is on premises and super nice. If the pool is finished for you it will be even better.

The listing and photographs are accurate. Our group was a young family with two toddlers upstairs and grandparents in their 60s downstairs. The setup was perfect for us. Host was great. This is a rustic way to stay in a very safe neighborhood for active people. There is outdoor lighting in the evenings, so beautiful. The stairs outside are wide and safe. There are multiple sitting areas outside with weathered handmade furniture throughout the grounds, so nice. The air conditioning worked well upstairs and downstairs in the bedroom. The host provided 2 boogie boards, snorkeling gear, beach towels, sand toys, umbrellas and a wagon to pull everything. Having a large washer and dryer with soap was a plus. The kitchen had everything we needed. The downstairs bathroom has a guppy tank and fish food to feed them. :)The beds were comfortable with nice linens. The property is located at the top of the hill in a canyon at the base of diamond head. We walked to Waikiki several times. Other than the hill the home is on (quite steep) it is an easy 20-30 minute flat walk into the city. There is a small, beautiful beach and park with picnic tables at the base of the street - perfect to watch the sunset one evening. We did have to keep a close eye on the babies outside with all the stairs. Overall, if you are active, don't mind exercise/hills and enjoy a more outdoor experience you will love this beautiful setting.

Unique, beautiful property! We were taken aback by its beauty upon arrival! We enjoyed the outdoor atmosphere the most, and listened to the birds morning and evening. The house is charming, but has a few quirks as often comes with older homes. Its location is nestled in a little canyon, so it feels remote and private, but you are still close to the beach and other activities in the area. Please regard the description of the stairs in and out. Our party had three generations, and while most of us didn’t mind (and actually enjoyed the exercise) it is definitely not grandparent friendly for most. It was nice to have access to the beach toys and ice chest in the laundry building as well. Joe was attentive and helpful. Would love to have stayed longer!

Very lovely location, gated & private parking and we were closer to the beach then realized! The home has ALL amenities imagined for your stay amd the liason is more than happy to offer insight on places to go to eat, hike, etc. Must stay here! Only challenge is the roly poly guys that visit the lower house and require frequent sweeping but it's worth it. Thanks JLo!

This is a jewel in Oahu - we love the surroundings and the beautiful placements of statues that remind us of zen and tranquility. As you walk down to the cottage, you can feel the sense of relaxation seeping into your body. Lots of places to sit and simply hear the sounds of birds singing. The property manager JLo is super friendly and responsive to questions. Bring bug spray or mosquito repellent..Very close to Diamond head and the beach…easy walk down but a walk uphill to get back to the house. We would come here again when we visit Oahu…

Birds sang for hours every morning, and the beach with a full view the sunset was about a block and a half’s walk from the house. I did homework that’s nice The hosts have exquisite taste, with subtle sculptures scattered across the grounds.

This is the most beautiful property. It was like staying in a nature preserve with the incredible assortment of birds. You are close to Waikiki, but are able to relax in a truly magical setting and feel far away from the crowds. We really enjoyed our time there.

We stayed here with our toddler to attend a wedding in Waikiki. The property is unreal. You’re right up against Diamond Head. It’s a hidden gem for those who have things to do in Waikiki, but want to unplug away from the hustle and bustle. The property itself was wonderful. Spacious. The view out from the living room is absolutely stunning and mystical.
AC works well, water pressure was great. The home was clean, and has all the basics you need in it. We loved the decor and the polished concrete touches here and there throughout the home.
There are steps, but if you have one of those super active adventurous toddlers, they’ll be singing and walking up and down those stairs without issues :)

Wonderful location on a dead end street at the base of diamond head. Quiet and secluded yet minutes away from Waikiki and anything you need. House was well equipped and comfortable. The stairs were well worth the effort.

The pictures for this property do not give it enough credit. This house was amazing and we loved our stay here. The setting is breathtaking, the house is amazing and the quiet brings the calmness you are looking for in such a busy city. We absolutely recommend this place!!

The home has a cozy nostalgic Hawaiian feel. Landscaping around the area was beautiful and very private. The pathway from parking to the home with many graded steps can limit access for people with physical challenges.

Such a lovely, secluded property! We were looking to avoid the bustle of Waikiki yet still be able to meet up with our family staying downtown and this was the perfect place. If you're looking for high-end, resort-level service and amenities, this is not the place for you. If you're looking for the charm of old Hawaii in a quiet and peaceful location, with the sights and sounds of nature at your doorstep, you can't go wrong here. So many fun and interesting details around the property from trails to plants to statues, with an abundance of sitting and meditation areas to take it all in. Some pointers: check cupboards/closets/drawers for items left by previous guests before buying anything! Plenty of useful items are already available. Only suggestions I have that might improve the experience would be the addition of some ceiling fans, especially with the limited AC, and maybe a few clothes hampers and small trash cans in the rooms. Of course a pool would also be amazing, but it looks like that may already be in the works? All in all, it was a beautiful experience! Our teenagers stayed upstairs, my husband and I took the basement room, with our 8 year old son in the screened-in entry. He loved the "camping" feel of that space - particularly hearing the birds each morning. He was also a big fan of the "shower fish" :-) Mahalo for the memories!

It all starts with the property you think...but it actually starts with the property manager. He was angelic, a God sent, highly artistic minded soul who built that place to be the magic it is. He was very kind and accommodating. Made the place very comfortable for me especially since I went to Hawaii to get married. The location was serene in a jungle like setting. If you know the history of diamond Head you will know the power you feel when you stay at this location because he is located directly at the base below the highest tip of diamond Head. It felt powerful and magical. It was clean, peaceful, and I felt so at home. Not only did I get married in Hawaii but I found out I was pregnant at this place. There's no other place I would have rather had the surprise than here. Thank you J. Lo for the feelings of ohana.

First time in Hawaii, picking this home was a very good decision. View is fantastic, home was fantastic. J was extremely helpful, courteous, and respectful when it came to privacy. I would recommend this home for future visits to the island.

Amazing location and beautiful setting. You can tell this property is a home of love and pride. I think it is ideally set for 4 people. I had the feeling of being on an outer island. Very happy the unit had air conditioning.

Our family loved staying at this Jungle Tree house! It was the perfect location for our family: Close to Waikiki, but still felt remote, and walking distance to the beach. The house and outdoor space are so unique and was really fun for our 5 year old to explore. It was really nice that the owner shared beach chairs, umbrella, toys, snorkeling gear, etc. There are some quirks with the house, including: all of the stairs, outside entrance to the downstairs bedroom, and instructions to manage the AC. However, the listing shows these items clearly and the owner provides thorough instructions for the AC. Highly recommend, we would love to stay year again next time we visit Oahu!

Our family spent a wonderful week at the Diamond Head house. It really is a hidden gem! The landscaping felt like a jungle oasis, a sanctuary from the busy energy of Honolulu. So nice to sit outside with coffee in the morning and watch the birds and lizards. We hosted fabulous breakfasts and dinners on the terrace, where we were able to fit 12 guests at the long table. Awesome vibes!
The house itself is comfortable yet quirky in the ways you'd expect of a house built almost 100 years ago. The central AC was much appreciated but a bit tricky to figure out how to turn on. The downstairs bathroom has a great rain shower and even comes with a fun live fish tank inside, but please note that the entrance must be accessed from the outside; a feature to be aware of when walking from bedroom to bathroom in the middle of the night. Luckily Joe lives next door and came by to show us how to navigate everything. He also set us up with Sonos speakers and some lovely tiki lighting on the terrace to brighten our evening meals.
One more note: Guests must be comfortable with stairs. There are many!

Delightful property away from the crowds. All we could hear were the birds singing and an occasional celebratory holler from someone who made it to the peak of their Diamond Head hike. We had fun watching the giant toads hop up and down the steps at night and enjoyed all the little lizards basking in the sun during the day. The cottage was clean and well stocked. So many great spots to sit outside and enjoy my morning coffee. Chris, the onsite caretaker, was friendly and helpful. Any questions we had were quickly answered. We felt far away from the city in our own little world but could easily and quickly get anywhere we wanted to go. Thanks for a great stay.

We stayed here with our wedding party! This spot was amazing. Right at the bottom of Diamond head. Very secluded spot. Not too far from Waikiki area! I will say the stairs were a bit of a hike, but if you don’t mind stairs then it’s perfect. The bathrooms and the downstairs living room do not have AC, but it was nice enough out we didn’t really need it. We laid out on the couch downstairs with a fan at night and just enjoyed the peaceful nature. Parking was a bit on the small side so we would recommend 1 car or 2 small cars. Overall the property was amazing! The ac felt great at night, the views were perfect and we didn’t have the loudness of the city surrounding us. The owner was so sweet. We met him on our last day there and he was so knowledgeable about the town! 10/10 would stay here again!

Great location, needs a little TLC
Great location to Waikiki and diamond, close to the action of diamond head but not in the thick of it. Seems like the bungalow used to be taken care of and in pristine condition, just lacks some of the care that maybe used to be there. AC was not on when we arrived, we were prepared and knew that there would probably be bugs and definitely were sightings as your in the woods a bit. Just was hoping for a more comfortable stay with the price we were paying and felt like we got the bare minimum unfortunately.

Oahu Stay
The location of this property is great. It’s a 5 minute walk to a small park and beach and a ten minute walk to Waikiki. It’s in an upscale neighborhood and very secluded. While we loved the location, the property itself did not meet our expectations.
There are several outdoor places to relax and gather however they have not been maintained and there is an issue with bugs When we got there all of the patios and furniture were covered with dead leaves, the table and benches were dirty. We had to sweep the patios and clean the table and benches just to use them. . The teak furniture is very old and we found the lounge chairs to be unusable. This was very disappointing because the outdoor space is what drew us to this property.
The indoor space is basic.. While the kitchen does have a gas stove the kitchen is not what I would describe as a gourmet kitchen. It’s rather small and does not have s full size refrigerator. We also found bugs in the house. Overall we didn’t find the inside of the house to be exceptionally clean.
The property is gated. It does not have a keypad. but uses a Fob which was inconvenient at times. The gate is old and when we were leaving for the airport it wouldn’t open. Fortunately the caretaker was there to assist.
With some updates and regular attention this property could be very nice.
