What Guests Say: While I wasn't able to stay at Stefani’s house in Bear Valley, I felt compelled to offer a kind review as she was a gracious and very communicative host throughout our booking and ultimate cancellation. Due to the pandemic, shelter-in-place orders, and extreme weather, our reserved dates were at risk of being cancelled for situations beyond our control. Stefani sent us updated information around lockdown and graciously worked with us to hold alternate dates. We ultimately had to cancel and she made the process very easy. We hope to return in the future during simpler times as the property looks beautiful. Caroline - Berkeley CA The views from your cabin are outstanding and they just made us want to sit and relax and enjoy the comfortable surroundings. I ski at Bear Valley often, mostly just to be in the Sierras and take in the view, and that feeling was even better in the nice summer weather from the comfort of your dining room table with a glass of wine! John and Carol - Livermore CA My husband and I really enjoyed our stay in your mountain home. The views were spectacular, and the house was very comfortable. We had a couple of days of great weather and one day to enjoy a rainy day by the fire. Neither of us had been to Bear Valley before, and we found lots to see and do. It must be beautiful there in the winter, and when all of the wild flowers are in bloom. We also enjoyed driving around the neighborhood and looking at the many beautiful homes. Joyce and Dan - Campbell CA 'My wife and I had a wonderful relaxing weekend at your cabin. Everything went fine and everything worked. Loved the view from the top of the hill behind the cabin. Reading a book and taking our morning coffee on the deck was so serene. You have a great location and a great cabin. We'll tell our friends and family about this Bear Valley jewel.' Chuck - Martinez CA 'Everything in the cabin worked great for us, with the fire keeping us plenty warm at night. We hope to go up again next year and add a couple more days to the stay. Really enjoyed the deck and views along with all the stars at night...Thanks again and great place!!' John - Livermore CA 'We would like to thank you for letting us use your beautiful treetop home in Bear Valley. It was more than we expected. The views were fantastic and the furnishings, etc. were just like home! Very comfortable and in good taste.' Gail - San Jose, CA 'Over the past few years, we have stayed in a number of Bear Valley homes... I must say, however, that I enjoyed the time my family spent at your home more so than the rest. What a view!' Chris and Pam - La Mesa, CA 'Thank you so much for the opportunity to rent your cabin for a couple of weeks. We had a great time, and never tired of the incredible view and comfortable accommodations. We look forward to staying at your place again in the future!' Jeri and Tom - Berkeley CA 'Although this was our first trip to Bear, we'll definitely be coming again this winter. We've stayed in many parts of the Sierra over the years, but were really impressed with Bear Valley, especially as a multi-activity family area. I hope our plans and the availability of your cabin coincide again.' Peter - Los Altos CA Keywords: House

We loved staying in Stefani's Bear Valley house. Super cozy and comfortable, great views, totally quiet, and an amazing location at the edge of open space that goes for miles and miles. For those who like sledding, there is an epic run right outside the house. Stefani is friendly, helpful, easygoing and always available. Overall, we would be glad to return. This is not a criticism, but for prospective guests I would note that the location of the house comes with some things to consider: 1. The house is at the end of a steep road, and with snow you need at least an AWD vehicle to get there. (We used AWD and chains.) 2. If there is lots of snow the roads are closed and access is by snowmobile only. We didn't do this, but given that the house is 1.5 miles from the parking lot this would not be for everyone. We imagined that it would be challenging for a family to get to and from the ski resort every day if the road to the house were closed.

This property matched our best expectations! It is located at the southern end of a dead end road, so is the last property in that direction. The second-story deck is on the south side, with views to the west and south over a sloping meadow, past granite and forested mountains to the distant snow-capped peaks. There is not even a neighboring cabin to disrupt the view. We felt total privacy as promised. During our stay (late August) the south-facing deck is in shade until mid morning, then again from mid-afternoon onward. There is a (smallish) canvas umbrella for some limited help with shade otherwise. The kitchen feels large for a mountain home, and is well provisioned -- almost over-provisioned (who needs that many wine glasses!) -- with every kind of kitchen implement and appliance we needed. The two bedrooms (both downstairs) are large each with their own bathroom. The one king-sized bed was comfortable. There is indeed a hiking trail starting essentially next to the entrance to the property. We enjoyed several of the many wilderness hikes that are short drives from Bear Valley. The property owner was friendly, cheery, and quick to respond. We had a wonderful, relaxing time in paradise, and felt kind of sad to leave!

This is a great little cabin. It feels like it was put together in the 90's and not much has changed. If you can hang with that, the views are incredible. Once we got there, we stayed close by - sledding in the driveways up by the road. Stef, the owner, is a great communicator.

The cabin makes a great get-away. We slept fine. We found everything we needed for meal preparation. The decor could use some refurbishing but everything was clean and functional.

We loved being able to walk out the door and go on a hike. Plus, it felt so private with a patio looking out on a mountain slope with wildflowers. We enjoyed our stay.
