We had such a fun weekend here, it’s a great location for exploring Urabandai and Inawashiro, and the house itself was wonderful! We had 10 people here very comfortably, definitely could have fitted more. We loved the big communal bath (which has a lockable door, so private if you want it to be) and the terrace for barbecuing, and the staff were very accommodating and helpful. They even brought us bread for breakfast!
It’s less than a 10 minute drive to Inawashiro town, including two supermarkets, and the kitchen was really well stocked for cooking. Plus, there’s a really nice little Sunny Cafe just up the road from the house. It feels peaceful and secluded without being isolated, perfect for a fun trip with friends/family. Hopefully we’ll come back some day, maybe during ski season next time :)
The futons were quite thin, and the pillows weren’t great - if I went back I’d definitely take my own pillow, but it’s not a deal breaker, because we loved everything else!
