Dear VRBO, My extended family and I recently stayed at The Boulders, and I wanted to reach out personally and tell you how FANTASTIC it is. I grew up in Washington (CT), and the Boulders has always been an iconic place in our lives. One sister worked as a waitress there while in high school/college, my two sisters and I all had our wedding dinners there, and many visiting guests have stayed there over the years. My parents emigrated from Ireland in 1955, directly to Washington, where they married and have lived happily ever since. We gathered for 4 days in early August for our annual family reunion, which was extra special this year as we celebrated my parents’ 60th anniversary. It was at once the perfect homecoming for all of us, and the perfect holiday destination. Mostly I want to commend and thank the owners for the sensitive and beautiful restoration and renovation of this historic building, which is so close to the heart of so many from the area—certainly all of us. You’ve managed to tastefully upgrade the place in every possible way, and yet its heart and soul and historic beauty are perfectly intact. We loved every detail---the beautiful lake photos all around the house, and the historical ones in the entryway; the magnificent (and fun to work in) kitchen; the comfortable and lovely bedrooms; the crooked floors; the abundant outdoor furniture; the lakefront complete with kayaks and paddleboards---and the boat house, complete with ping pong! The house beautifully accommodated our family. We felt both privileged to be there and totally protective and proprietary about the house and its surroundings---a place to be treasured and loved even as it is being fully used.Jeff and Amanda were fantastic---both in advance of and during our stay. You couldn’t have better stewards of the property. They were attentive and easygoing at the same time, eager for us to relax and enjoy and share their obvious love of the place while also being clear about house rules and neighborhood respect.So---from Weston and Washington, CT, Lancaster, PA, Houston, Scarsdale, NY, Boston, Chicago, and New York City---you have our heartfelt thanks. We'll be back!

Just had family reunion at the Boulders for 24. Rented both house & cottage. Such a wonderful home, with so much space and nice accommodations. Lots of toys (bikes, kayaks, ping pong table, etc.) plus great boathouse, dock (bring your ski/pontoon boat--we did) & float. Property managers great, and even met the owners. Former B&B that is truly stylish. Amazing views & sunsets (western view) over Lake Waramaug. We'll be back next year with luck.
