This was a great experience. We didn't realize it was over the garage and the owners were in the cottage behind it. They were gracious and respected our privacy, but I have to admit, I was looking for something a little more private. We were unable to get to down to the water as there was a recent rain and the path was flooded, and the deck railing blocked the view when seated on the deck. We didn't spend much time there as we were out and about taking advantage of the area's offerings, but the cottage is very clean and has everything you need. We saw deer every morning on the property as well as a porcupine, eagles and osprey.

Winkle Cottage is the quietest place we've ever stayed! The peace and serenity we enjoyed there were enhanced by the friendliness of our hosts who were very welcoming and made us feel right at home. (The chocolate chip cookies didn't hurt!) The cottage was immaculate but warm and cozy with one of the most comfortable beds this side of The Ritz! The décor was most appropriate for a coastal Maine cottage without being overdone. We had everything we needed for a completely relaxing and stress-free vacation. We'll be back.

Delightful cottage in peaceful setting

We loved our time spent at Winkle Cottage, and Bob and Trisha are fantastic hosts. We had plenty of privacy and space, yet they were available to answer questions and make us feel welcome. The cottage itself is spacious, bright, and has all the comforts of home- comfy bed, sofas to nap on, and a well-stocked kitchen... We loved relaxing out on the deck in the morning, and at the end of a day hiking in the area. We hope to return soon!!

Amazing
Amazing
Quiet and then some. What a great place to relax. Patricia was there to greet us and let us know that she was available if we needed anything. The place is spotlessly clean and the view is great. Far enough away from things to be peaceful but within driving distance of good places to eat and things to do and see. The only thing we did not like about this place was leaving. A true hidden gem. If you need a place to unwind this is for you.

Winkle Cottage is just as advertised and pictured. We enjoyed a great week staying there. Tricia and Bob were welcoming hosts. They knew we would be arriving after dark and had the lights on for us. The next morning we woke up with no hot water. Bob was there in just a few minutes to remedy the problem. The electric had flickered the day before and tripped the breaker. Apologetic and assured us he was nearby for just such problems. The cottage is very comfy and clean. The kitchen had all we needed, especially lobster crackers! Coffee on the deck in the morning is what vacation is all about!!! The bathroom was very spacious, much bigger than most. Several windows and ceiling fans allow the air to circulate nicely throughout the cottage. We went whale watching one day and fishing another, both with Eastport Windjammers. Such nice owners and lots of fun! Hiking at Quoddy State Park was our favorite, such beautiful views. Campobello Island was fun. We toured FDR’s summer cottage and hiked out to the lighthouse. You can only go at low tide, and we got to watch a minke whale and also a baby seal sunning himself on the rocks. Reversing falls is so peaceful, and we hiked there and watched seals and an eagle soar around. We cooked lobster twice from Quoddy Bay Lobster. We spent our last day at Acadia. Cadillac Mountain is breathtaking!!! Maine is a beautiful place to visit, and we enjoyed our stay at Winkle Cottage. Thank you Tricia and Bob and hope to visit again some day!
