lovely pool and great breakfast

The borgo is located in a tranquil setting high in the countryside. It's surrounded by olive trees and natural scenery in a valley. The hosts were wonderful - Michele collected us from the train station and even took us to buy train tickets before dropping us at the train station when we left. The pool is the standout attraction - it's in a beautiful setting overlooking the valley. The restaurant served great food at good prices, the gardens are lovely and our daughter loved the two resident dogs, which were super friendly. Breakfast was excellent and made all the better thanks to the view. It's a short drive to town but we mostly stayed at the borgo where we could relax and soak in the setting.

The location is absolutely beautiful and the whole place smells like flowers. The outside areas are well equipped with a lovely chlorinated pool, gym area libraries a ping pong table etc.
The on-site restaurant is also excellent with an immensely talented lady both cooking and waiting tables.
Inside the property is less nice. The place seems oddly furnished with a single bed in the kitchen for some reason. There is also a lack of kitchen equipment such as cutlery, crockery etc. The interior was dated but functional.
Some areas of the outside have also been neglected. The libraries are being reclaimed by nature and the sports equipment is very tired and mostly broken.
I'm a bit confused about the 4* rating. While the property is nice, I think calling it a 4* hotel sets people up with unrealistic expectations. This is a nice hotel, but not a luxury one.

Very friendly staff; beautiful views. True hotel, so no issues coming in late or leaving early. Friendly dogs mill about the property.
A little difficult to get to in terms of location, but that does make it that much more relaxing
