Set in 50 hectares of private land, Il Macchione is an 18th-century stone farmhouse. Just 0.9 mi outside Pienza, it features a swimming pool that overlooks Val d'Orcia Natural Park.

Very misleading to book a room at this agriturismo. The main building and the garden with the pool looks amazing, but our room was in the annex building which we knew at the booking time. What we did not know was that the annex was about 300 m away, by the road and still in construction. So, using the pool and the garden was not really convenient. You would have to either use the car or walk on the road with cars. Breakfast food was average.
Rooms in the annex don’t have convenient access to pool and garden, and don’t have at all that agriturismo vibe.

The apartment we stayed in needed another mirror outside the bathroom. Just a suggestion would help with getting ready.

The location is not far from Pienza where the view is absolutely stunning.
Be careful before making a reservation here. The hotel has a main building with beautiful views, and most of the photos you see online are taken there. However, they also have a separate annex building (Frantoio Fegoli), located about 200 meters away.
The annex rooms are next to a road and can be quite noisy. In addition, breakfast is only served in the main building, so you’ll need to either walk or drive there.
I only found out that my room was in the annex building one day before arrival, when it was already too late to cancel or get a refund.
It would greatly improve transparency and trust if the host clearly stated on Booking.com that there are two different types of accommodation, instead of simply labeling it as “annex” and assuming guests understand what that means. As it stands, this lack of clarity can easily leave guests in the annex feeling misled.
I’m simply sharing my honest experience so others are aware before booking.
