This was perhaps the most phenomenal hotel I have ever experienced in my life. From the turtle ferry across the harbour to check in, to the sculpted gardens around the observatory with views to the Nachi Waterfall, from gazing on a full moon over the ocean from an onsen in a cave - I feel I almost saw a merperson - to the Lawsons and infinity elevator, I count down the days until I return. Booking for a single night only was a mistake. We stayed in the Sanjokan which had its own onsen with views to town. We rerouted our entire next day for a few more hours. Next time I shall put aside at least a full day for flitting between the different onsens and wings of the hotel in my yukata, gazing wistfully at the ocean, partaking in a massage, walking the mystery path on the clifftop gardens, finding my way down the seaside, and general dilly-dallying around the place.

The cave onsens were beautiful! The breakfast choices were plentiful and tasty. It was well worth staying in the Sanjoken tower. The best was when a staff member went out of his way to deliver my lost water bottle.

Stunning location, can’t be beaten, Onsen access terrific.
Buffet sometimes the food was not as hot as it maybe should have been, or the heating areas need an upgrade. Tuna station was unbelievably good.
