Its location, and in a charmingly scruffy little courtyard. The studio was compact but well organised for the space available. Interesting artworks on the walls. Had everything we needed. We could walk almost anywhere, and the metro/station was close, as well as restaurants and a supermarket.
Fairly dark inside. You really needed the lights as you couldn't open the door or window because of the heat, but lovely in the moments when we could open them. The air-conditioning unit was old, extremely noisy, and not very efficient. Admittedly the outside temperature was in the mid thirties in the day and low twenties at night, so it was perhaps exceptionally testing conditions.
The second "mezzanine" bed was only a couple of feet from the ceiling and accessed by a steep ladder next to the kitchen sink. Only for the young or athletic, I think.

Location was absolutely superb with plenty of restaurants etc along the canal. Transport links with trains and the metro at the end of the street and trams at the front door.

limited ventilation during the hot summer month and the AC was too cold and could not be adjusted well

Great location in the very nice neighborhood of Navigli. Metro station close by. Nice contact with owner and she came to greet us in the street.
Quit small and dark apartment, many mosquitos.
The beds were not great, especially the couch-bed downstairs. For one or two night it’s ok, but we were glad we did not stay longer.
