Excellent place to stay, we highly recommended this.

The property was in a good, accessible location and the room was spacious with a very clean and useable bathroom. Breakfast provided was superb and the hosts were very friendly and helpful; we would definitely recommend this property and look forward to staying there again.

Exceptional, first class breakfast, super hosts!

Patricia and Harold were wonderful hosts, very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was absolutely gorgeous, Patricia goes above snd beyond all expectations, she even had delicious Armagh strawberries for us! Harold is a real character, we really enjoyed the craic! Would highly recommend!

The breakfast was amazing! The couple hosting are the nicest people you can meet. The breakfast was the best I have ever had and my wife agrees. I travel all over the world and this was the best breakfast!

Gracious hosts provide care and delicious food to guests

Patricia and Harold were most gracious hosts who certainly tried to accommodate the needs of the 4 of us. My sister and her husband were in the second floor bedroom with en-suite bathroom; my husband and I were in the first floor "budget room," which was a bit cramped but worked for us, with a bathroom across the hall; this bathroom was spacious and fully stocked with towels and toiletries. Harold helped my brother-in-law, who was not feeling well, with his bags and Patricia made him a hot toddy. The breakfast provided was amazing, more than ample, and delicious--fresh fruit, cereals, juices, eggs cooked to order, toast and pastries, and endless coffee and tea. This home is only a 10 minute drive to the Belleek Pottery, too.

The bed in the "Budget Room" seemed a bit small for a full sized bed. There was a full-sized dresser in this room, which we used as a luggage stand for our one small suitcase. The room worked for us for one night, but I think, for a longer stay, the upstairs bedroom would be best. One person would be perfect for the budget room.

A shocking experience

Bed was fairly comfortable. Linen clean and plenty of towels.

Found the house decor dark & claustrophobic. Also dining area too small, would prefer not to share breakfast with other guests (or indeed the hosts themselves). Would have preferred to be asked what we wanted for breakfast instead of being handed a huge plateful of food we couldn't finish. While eating, we sat and talked with the hosts. (Two other guests had by now left the table & house). After breakfast I mentioned we'd had a problem with a lamp and thought a socket was faulty, also our difficulty adjusting water temp on the shower. (I would not have included these points in any review, I was just telling the hosts so they could look into them). The landlady followed us up to our room, stormed in without knocking, proceeded to switch on lamps in the room, shouting abuse (accused me of lying) ) as she did so. When we came downstairs and knocked on the kitchen door to say goodbye to landlord (and to say I was not lying), she followed us to the front door, still shouting and calling me a b***ch and saying she would report me to Booking.com for ''misconduct'. Extraordinary experience - could hardly believe it. Do hope this poor lady gets the help she clearly needs - in the meantime we can only advise travellers to look elsewhere - there are so many better guesthouses in Donegal.

The hostess made the best eggs Benedict I’ve ever had. Her layout of food and her setting was very well thought through.

Hosts Patricia & Harold are so warm & welcoming n their lovely home, Patricia's breakfast of Egg Benedict is just amazing& table settings with vintage china & crystal jampots ect are such a real treat.Harold is so interesting we wanted to stay after breakfast just to continue our chats!

Everything was fine but I am disappointed with the general cost of accommodation in Ireland at the moment. It would be less expensive to fly and stay in some foreign lands

Coming home

I don't know where to start. Lovely hosts, they take all the time to help you with any wish. It's really nice to get them knowing. It's was the first time but it was like coming home. We got welcomed directly with a nice chat and a drink. I could have stayed days only for chatting. Thanks again for that nice time. The breakfast was outstanding.

We couldn't wait to leave.

Location

Hosts were not there when we arrived and then went out again. Accommodation was not maintained, broken toilet seat and toilet paper holder and it was cluttered and cramped. Heating went off during the night making an uncomfortable morning. We didn't shower. The eating area and kitchen was hard to navigate there was so much stuff and was not sanitary at all. There were dirty dishes, cooking vessels and uncooked meat on the counter. It did not smell nice. We did not stay for breakfast. When we wanted to leave we could not get out as the door hardware was broken. We managed to get other guests to fetch the home owner and between the two of us we forced the door to open. If we hadn't prepaid we would left earlier.

The most comfortable experience in Ireland

I have never found a better solution in Ireland. Friendly atmosphere, the feelings was of having already been there. Great breakfast, superb cooking. I recommend this accommodation to anywhone wants to see beautiful Donegal.

Arrived as customers, left as friends.

Fabulous breakfast. Great company. Hosts Patricia and Harold both went out of their way to help us including a guided tour of the town and help finding long-lost relatives we were searching for.

Could be here for a week trying to find fault and still not come up with anything.

A great & comfortable stay

I was made to feel very welcome as soon as I arrived. The room was spotless as was everywhere else. The bed was really comfortable. Breakfast was amazing, one of the best I've had anywhere and definitely best for a b&b.

Superb

Harold and Patricia are great host，we had been stuck on the traffics and because of an incident, (not sure what happened) and no internet for communication, they had waited for us until after 9 at night. Thank you. The breakfast is excellent, five stars, best Egg Benedict I have ever had.

Great location, very accommodating hosts and fantastic hosts.

Location was about a 10 minute walk from town centre. Patricia and Harold were excellent hosts and very entertaining. Breakfast was great too.

Really lovely couple and amazing breakfasts both mornings! Couldn't have asked for better service, rooms were spotless and really comfortable. Location was good, only ten minutes drive to Bundoran and beaches!

The only issue we had during our stay was with availability of taxis during the evening, to get to Bundoran town - It might be handier to have a car with you. However, the owners were more than helpful and provided us with bus times and taxi numbers.

Cosy, unique, homely place and lovely hosts

Breakfast customised to suit adult and children's taste. Location central. Not staying long enough to check out location

Booking time flexibility. Would be good if time slots longer or if times unavailable to book in listed ahead of time. Wasn't sure of a number to contact. Understandable that not the same flexibility as a hotel though

Thank you very much for your hospitality and the unforgettable time in the Assaroe House.

Staying at the Assaroe House was a pleasant experience. The owners, Patricia and Herold, gave me a very friendly welcome. We had a wonderful evening and a lively conversation. So I learned a lot of interesting things about Ireland and Ballyshannon. At the end Patricia even sang me a folk song "And it's no, nay, never ..." - wonderful and unforgettable!

It was ok but rather pricey. Would stay in a hotel in preference

Breakfast was very nice. I found the room very comfortable but very cold. Heating was not on long enough to warm the place up. Bathroom though nice was freezing. Also sound insulation is dreadful. House is full of creaky floorboards. Every sound Carrie's. Conversations can be heard. Quite disturbing late at night
