About this chalet rental
Located in Alta, this charming chalet for $1,000 per night is a great choice for your next vacation. The Red Fern Chalet is a beautiful hand crafted custom built ski home with 4 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, 1 full kitchen, open fire places, a number of decks and balconies including a mountain deck with a hot tub, a private parking space for two vehicles. This makes the house perfect for a big family or large group. The Red Fern is located between world famous powder ski resorts of Alta and Snowbird with incredible panoramic mountain views, particularly from the main deck. The resort enjoys incredible skiing conditions year in, year out with an average of about 50 feet of snow per annum over that last 10 years (that's more than 14 metres). In the Summer months it's a stunningly beautiful, creekside location and an ideal base for hiking, climbing, camping and all other outdoors pursuits that Utah State has to offer. At any time of the year, the Red Fern is a terrific environment to unwind. It has been furnished with comfort and cosiness in mind and does not have that 'rental property' vibe. The Red Fern is generously equipped with an extensive library, hundred of games, and an amazing entertainment system reaching every room and living area. The kitchen is fully equipped for the most ambitious chef. Rion is our caretaker, part-time snow reporter and one of the younger, old timers at the Alf Engen Ski School. If you need a good guide and want to cut the long lift lines at Alta or Snowbird you can hire Rion through the Alta Ski Shcool. Rion lives in a seperate caretaker apartment in the house. He is there to make your stay as fun and carefree as possible. He knows the resort as well as anyone and will be happy to help you with any questions or queries from booking a chef or a masseur or a restaurant, to introducing you to Dr Ken at the Alta Clinic if you get bitten by an Alta snow snake and twist a knee. He can arrange transport from the airport or into Salt Lake for excursions, food shop for your arrival and organise housecleaning, all depending on how exactly you want and enjoy it. *'the security cameras in the home will be turned to the ceiling and the one outside by the hot tub will be covered during rentals. We had the pleasure of staying at Redfern the weekend Alta set a season snow record. We had an amazing weekend made even better by Rion, the property care-taker. He was a great resource for any questions we had - from where to grab a bite to eat to which area of the mountain to ski. We got 5' of snow during our stay and he even dug out our car!
The property is conveniently located between Alta and Snowbird. You can ski right to the house from Alta or take a quick shuttle to Snowbird. I would strongly recommend this home if you are visiting either Alta or Snowbird.

The house is even better than described. Plenty of room for everyone to spread out, CLEAN, and great appliances, beds, etc. But even more impressive than the space...the amenities are the best I've ever experienced in a VRBO house. The home is stocked with everything you could possibly need...from spices to papertowel...from extra bedding to games and books. The best amenity is Rion! We were interlodged several times and Rion was in constant contact. He shovelled out our car, made sure we had a shuttle to pick us up, offered to help with anything we might need. Can't thank the owners and Rion enough for such a fabulous week....and for taking the time and expense to ensure our comfort. The 8 year olds are already asking.....when are we going back to Redfern?????

We cooked at home every night. The kitchen is fully stocked with supplies, but we did have some trouble with making the oven work. However, there is another one right downstairs in the second kitchen!
We used the shuttle to get to and from Alta. There were a few times that we had to wait quite a while because it was full, but it worked well for the most part.
Overall, we would definitely come back!

Great house and amazing host
The house is very spacious, layout is perfect and has everything we needed to have a large party over the holidays. We really enjoyed the hot tub after skiing and spent a lot of time in the large kitchen and spacious living room. Rion is the perfect host - responsive as well as extremely knowledgable about anything in the area. It's easy to get to Alta but a bit more difficult to get to Snowbird given the shuttle doesn't go there. We found a hack - got the Cliff Lodge bell desk to come pick us up when we needed to go to Snowbird.

Perfect Trip
The Red Fern House is even better than the pictures make it look and Rion made everything so easy. Our group of 6 guys doesn’t get to see one another very often, and this house served as a perfect base for us to ski, eat, drink and enjoy being together. The hot tub is huge, nice and has great views down the canyon. We are already talking about coming back next year and the only thing we will change is to stay in for dinner every single night.

Amazing location and terrific house
From the moment we started looking at the possibility of renting the Redfern house, we had a great experience. Rion, the property manager, was incredibly communicative throughout the entire process from start to finish. We had 7 guys in our group and we were all very comfortable with our individual spaces. We cooked in each night and the house had a fully setup kitchen with everything you'd need. The shuttle to the Bird or Alta was just a call away and I don't think we ever waited for more than 5-10 minutes to catch a ride. At the end of the day, it was easy to ski home from either resort. I can't recommend Redfern enough, you'll love the entire experience.

Everyone from 16-90 years young. The property manager Rion was more concierge than caretaker. A great resource and available for any house snafu, which we had few. (TVs not working and master bedroom shower needs repair)
Spectacular views ,World class skiing and a city bus that will take you to and from snowbird or Alta for FREE. There is also a shuttle courtesy of Alta.
We opted for private chefs and that was worth all the gold in Fort Knox. We would love to come back especially after the planned remodel.

Amazing House with a Home Feel
My friends and I absolutely loved this place! The house was clean and comfortable. In addition, the proximity to the ski slopes were another plus. After skiing, we could relax in the outdoor hot tube.

We stayed for President's weekend, a reunion of a ski group we had in highschool 20 years ago. It is a great house stocked with everything you could possibly need and really conveniently located close to the slopes. And Rion, the caretaker is a great bonus. So attentive and helpful and really cares about making your stay memorable.

Would Give it 6 Stars If I Could
I am 32 and never wrote a review for anything. I often read these prior to a stay at a hotel, visit to a restaurant, activities, etc. etc. But I personally never write a review after my experiences...
However, my experience at the Red Fern House warrants a glowing review. The house is beautiful, comfortable, clean, practical, high tech, and all around incredible. But the best part of the Red Fern House is the manager, Rion. I booked for three days for a group of 9 guys. I booked 3 months in advance and had the privilege of communicating with Rion as often as I wanted prior to my arrival. He was responsive and informative to every request. When we arrived, he was beyond accommodating. Very professional, amicable, and always reachable. He even accompanied one of the guests to a nearby supermarket opened late one evening.
In addition, the hot tub needed a tweak one night and he worked diligently to fix it (and he did within minutes). If you want someone to clean the house during your stay, a private chef, or any other accommodation, Rion will provide you with all the necessary details. You don't often find this type of attention and it significantly enhanced our stay.
I recommend this house for every type of group, whether a guys/girls-getaway, a family trip, business trip, etc. It covers all and Rion only makes it better.

Excellent palace with great amenities. We will definately enjoy this place again. It accommodated the 12 of us very comfortably and the pick-up shuttle service worked very well. The SuperBowl was nicely visualized in the awesome entertainment room. The hot-tub was perfect (and large enough for all) with great views. Rion did a perfect job seeing to all our needs! We recommend highly!!

Amazing house and staff
We only stayed for the weekend, but it was a very memorable one. Rion was amazing and helped us every step of the way. The house is state of the art and has the amenities that you could ask for. You are minutes away from the resort, and when you are done skiing, you can sit in the hot tub on the deck looking at amazing views. I would recommend this house to anyone.

Wonderful ski trip rental for large family
Our large family - 3 couples+two singles+infant - stayed at this lovely home for a one-week ski vacation. The home was well cared for and fully outfitted with everything we could want. Rion, the caretaker, was readily available and attentive. It all made for a great vacation.

Redfern in Alta
First time to Alta and Snowbird and the trip was amazing! We had 9 guys for a 40th birthday weekend and the Redfern house was perfect. Incredible entertainment system, awesome atmosphere, and perfect location. Rion, thank you for your help and especially for the 3 days of fresh POW.

Redfern is amazing
Didn't know what to expect as we had not been to Alta before. The Redfern is a great house in a great location not far from the lifts with the easiest access shuttles to the lift you could imagine. Literally - pick up the phone - call the shuttle - and they are there with a smile within a few minutes. We were 3 couples and could have easily added 2 more couples - the house is huge! The hottub is amazing with great view out at the mountains. Rion was a great host and always willing and able to help with any questions. He even drove us to pick up our pizza!! We loved it so much we plan on going back next year. Oh yeah - the skiing. Apparently this was a bad snow year. Alta was still world class by all accounts (we ski Whistler) so can't wait to see what a good snow year looks like!
