Nestled in Chincoteague Island, this charming house for $170 per night is a fantastic option for your next trip. This is a charming traditional island home, that sleeps up to 7 people, and is conveniently located within Historic Downtown Chincoteague, and offers easy walking to gift shops, galleries, restaurants, grocery stores, churches, the library, carnival grounds, Robert Reed Downtown Park, the movie theater, boating, fishing and much more. On the first floor you will find the kitchen, dining room, living room, porch, half bath, and full washer/dryer. The second floor offers 3 bedrooms. The first bedroom with a king bed, the 2nd bedroom with 2 double beds, and the 3rd bedroom with a twin. There is also a full bath on the second floor. This home is cooled with window units, and offers wifi internet for those that may need to work while on vacation. My Tern has a NO SMOKING and a NO PETS policy. Please bring your own linens for 1 King, 2 Double Beds, and 1 Twin Bed. We ask that you leave the home in a neat and tidy condition. We invite you to enjoy your island vacation at My Tern. This property is in a very good location and the managers were very friendly and always responded to our text messages via the VRBO app immediately. It’s not a fancy house, but it was clean, spacious, and it was all that we needed. The door handle on the back door locked fine, but I could never get the deadbolt to work. The property has air conditioning units and they all worked well, however, the upstairs bathroom is hot (it does have a window fan, though). If you like to read, you’re bound to find a good book to read while staying here! Many of the items I thought I would need to buy at the grocery store were already in the house. One recommendation I have for the owners is to install a safety bar in the upstairs shower and put something on the floor of the tub to keep people from slipping. Chincoteague and Assateague are so beautiful. My sisters and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Nice quaint little beach house. Plenty of space inside to hang out and play games, talk, and prepare food. Small back yard, but that's no issue. There's also a convenient sand washing station out back to wash the sand off after a day at the beach.

The house is in a perfect location on the island. It is allows for access to the town and other features. We had a very pleasant stay.

Charming place, but we had difficulties with the TV and Internet. Spent a couple hours on the phone with cable provider two different times. Also, couldn't figure out how to lock the door when we left. I was told they got a new door now, though, so hopefully a non-issue for the next renters. Great location.

My Tern was a nice house, in a good location and it was convenient that we didn't have to rent it for a whole week even though we were renting during the peak summer season. Also, we forgot linens but were given a set to use by the rental agency free of charge which was very nice. We liked that there were box fans to help cool the house in addition to the window AC units because upstairs was a little stuffy. Their were two different wifi passwords, one in the check-in paperwork and one by the router and while the wifi worked well the first couple days by the end of our trip it was kind of weak and came off and on. As far as I could tell, the back door couldn't lock and the window fan in the upstairs bathroom was pretty dirty and dusty. The emergency contact information on the refrigerator needs to be updated because one of the contacts is no longer associated with My Tern.

House was adequate, water pressure fantastic, could have been cleaner. Loved the outdoor shower. Floors were swept but not mopped and kids feet turned black while walking around barefoot. All appliances worked well. If you're looking for a place just to sleep (which we were) this place is perfect! Not a place we'd want to sit around and hang out at, more of a crash pad. Worth exactly what we paid for it!

Fighting the waves, soaking up the sun and flying kites.
Enjoy all the birds and especially the ponies.
Family time at the water park was simply amazing.
Playing Wizard, LRL, and phase 10 until midnight.

We understood and embraced the idea that this was an "older" "charming" property. The paneling in the photos is a dead give away that this is not a posh listing. There were several things that made us chuckle when we arrived (the tiny 1/2 bath, the "ceiling fan" over the kitchen table, exterior lights that did not work (we arrived after dark) etc.) and we were accordingly "charmed".
But there were several things that made us cringe and ultimately determine that this was an unacceptable place to stay. 1. The back door could not be secured - despite assurances from the agent that the owner had worked on in the week before. 2. The carpet in the "master" bed room may have been as old as we are (mid-50s) and smelled of dog urine. 3. The bed had an egg crate matress topper - big ick factor. 4. The grass had not been cut in quite a long while, which was all the more glaring due the the well kept yards surrounding the property. There was a sense from the moment you walked in that this was not a place that was much cared for and SHOULD NOT BE RENTED in its current condition.
Kudos to Debbie, our agent who was responsive and understanding. This place could be a real "charmer" with just a bit of love and care.

This house is in a great location and has plenty of space. We love Chincoteague and Assateague for the water, birds and walking so we did not stay indoors much. If we had, we might have wished for an upgrade to the bedspreads and shams and couch covers.

Wonderful week!
This was our second summer coming to Chincoteague, and we will definitely be back! Checking in and out of this property was a breeze and the home fulfilled our needs. The covered porch was especially nice; we could enjoy the outdoors without being pestered by mosquitoes. The home itself was old and...rustic. While it could definitely use a makeover, having a full kitchen and washer/dryer was essential for our stay. Overall, we were very happy!

Great location and plenty of room
Nice beach house. Walking distance to many shops, restaurants, etc. Use of garage was nice as we weathered a tropical depression the first night! We are reasonably COVID concerned, so I recommend bringing Lysol spray, soap, paper towels, and
discinfecting wipes (some provided). The house was broom clean but we wiped everything down.

We had a very wonderful time! It is how it is portrayed...lots of room for a larger family to stretch out. My wife and I enjoyed the peaceful relaxation on the porch while the kids played board games or watched a movie. Would definitely book again! Thank you for contributing to a great vacation week!

Beautiful Assateague
It was a great location and a beautiful, restful vacation. The property is advertised as old and it is. But what concerned us was the front porch was due to be repaired as stated in a note left at the property. But when we walked on it it bounced up and down and dropped about 3 inches each time we sat on the chairs out there. We were very concerned we would break it completely. I hope it is ready for the next guest!

Convenient Location!
So much is within walking distance: shopping & lots of food! It's a short driving distance to the beach. This home is large enough to spread out in where everyone can have some privacy but common areas to accommodate gathering for meals and/or family games. The pictures are accurate. It is outdated but was very clean. The one star I took away were things that truly didn't detract from our experience but were slight annoyances: parking is only in the garage or directly in front of it, otherwise you will have to park a short distance away. We had difficulty with the cable. It never worked for us. I'll admit, though, we never called for assistance. We were there for only 3 nights & just didn't want to spend the time/energy calling & trying to fix it. Also, for us not having a dishwasher wasn't a huge deal, but it might be more annoying for someone with more people or children along. Again, some these things were minor for us & we enjoyed our stay here.
