About this cottage rental
Situated in Chipping Norton, this lovely cottage for $224 per night is a great option for your next trip. Built on the site of the former Waggon & Horses Pub from Cotswold stone, Elba House provides high quality accommodation for families, friends, and their four legged companions, to explore all the Cotswolds and West Oxfordshire has to offer. Chipping Norton is an attractive and superbly situated small historic market town on the edge of the renowned Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It has numerous amenities including supermarkets, pubs, restaurants, coffee shops, park and can even boast its own lido and theatre. We are 8 miles from Soho Farmhouse, 10 miles from Woodstock and the majestic Blenheim Palace (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) , 19 miles from Bicester Village, and only 22 miles from the historic centres of Oxford and Stratford-Upon-Avon (both can be reached by bus). It is also a great location for Blenheim Park, Great Tew Park and Cornbury Park events. We are only a short drive from Kingham and Charlbury GWR train stations and numerous stations on the Chiltern Line. Elba House has generous and flexible bedroom accommodation, a courtyard garden with southerly aspect, 2 private parking spaces and is a very short walk away from Chipping Norton town centre. Rare for the Cotswolds, Elba House gives you loads of space in the bedrooms, so feel free to swing as many cats as you please (not literally - of course). The master and second bedroom both have king sized beds - no short straws for couples staying together. There is an additional sofa bed in the second bedroom if required.The third bedroom has a full single sized bed. All beds have the highly rated Silentnight Studio Medium memory foam mattress, microfibre duvets and luxury bed linen. The second floor ensuite has a shower and separate bath. The first floor bathroom has a bath and over bath shower. The kitchen has all the cooking facilities you would expect. We have: - Gas hob and electric cooker - Microwave - Dishwasher - Washer/Dryer - Fridge & Freezer - Coffee Machine The living room is a very comfortable space to socialise with a log burning stove. It also has: - A Smart TV - Blu Ray Player & Range of DVDs - DAB Radio, CD Player & Bluetooth Speaker . If you need some 'me' time, there is 'music room' with record player and the third bedroom has another T.V. and DVD Player. We are happy to accept one mutt of most (smaller) varieties on the ground floor of Elba House only, provided they are well behaved and are not left alone. Please note that the property is on a hill, has three storeys and there are steps up to the rear door. Chipping Norton is also plonked right on one of those famous Cotswold 'rolling hills'. If you have mobility issues please do contact us with any questions you have prior to booking. We do not currently accept cats due to the increased allergy risk for future guests. We do take dogs as they are deemed to be a lower allergy risk and we have dogs of our own. Please bear this in mind if someone in your party is allergic to pets.

Four of us stayed at this lovely cottage for 4 nights and loved it. Perfectly positioned for exploring the Cotswolds. The cottage is very comfortable - cosy, beautifully decorated and thoughtfully appointed, very clean with comfortable beds and a well equipped kitchen. Vicky was very easy to communicate with, prompt and friendly with her response to any questions. There was even a bottle of champagne and other goodies to welcome us. We didn’t want to leave!

We stayed at Elba House for the weekend whilst visiting Chipping Norton for a wedding. The house was easy to access, with sufficient parking and immaculately kept. It had a very cosy feel and there was plenty of room for our little one to play.
Nothing was too much trouble for Vicky and she was on hand if we needed anything both before we arrived and during our stay. If you have little people within your party, she can accommodate any extra requirements you may have like a cot or stair gates.
What made the stay even more lovely was the welcome comforts she had provided on our arrival.
I would stay here again :)

We had a great stay at Elba House and it provided us with the perfect base whilst we were visiting the area to be guests at a wedding. The house was so comfortable, clean and in a great location - the wood burner was wonderful to snuggle up to on a winter wonderland weekend when everything outside stayed frozen. Thank you Vicky for your quick responses and for being so accommodating. A great stay and we will happily repeat our stay should we be in the area again.

This is perhaps the best equipped house we have ever stayed in with VRBO. The house itself was everything it was advertised to be and perhaps the best feature was the wealth of information provided on the house and the surrounding area. The kitchen was very well equipped with the only drawback being a small eating area.

Elba House was the perfect location for us to explore the Cotswolds including Woodstock, Oxford, Burton on the Water and Stratford upon Avon. The property is very clean with 2.5 bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen and amazing beds! Marks and Spencer food hall is 2 mins walk and has a fabulous selection of groceries and prepared meals. Town and the local pubs are a short stroll down the road.

We rented this cute cottage to use as a base for a weekend family wedding. Vicky was really helpful, answering questions quickly during the booking process and on our arrival we were delighted to find a spotless, well designed and well appointed property. We really wished we could have stayed for longer. The property had a great location for all sorts of venues including SoHo Farmhouse. Would thoroughly recommend

We have stayed in many holiday rentals across the world, and Elba House is among the very best. It is so well located with the town an easy walk, a wonderful M&S Foodhall even closer, and a bus stop with regular service to Oxford on the doorstep. The house is immaculate and fully fitted with the best of everything. Some places skimp on kitchen items, for example, but hosts Vicky and John make sure you have quality throughout. We felt at home immediately with such cozy spaces and even the beds were very comfortable—something that cannot be said of many rentals. In short, we had a wonderful three weeks and will be returning in the future. If you want a wonderful place to stay in the Cotswolds, you cannot do better than Elba House. You won’t be disappointed.

Our family loved everything about this cottage. It was cosy but spacious and very well equiped. Location is a short walk from town centre. We were pleasantly surprised to find a lovely cake and bottle of wine plus plenty of tea, coffee, milk to last the weekend. We hope to return for a longer stay in the future.

We arrived during an unexpected snowfall to a warm house, with lovely furnishings. Vicky had left us tea, cake, and a bottle of prosecco, so we were able to revive ourselves before going out to look for dinner. The home itself is well kept:clean and in perfect repair, and the colors and furnishings lovely and comfortable. (The mattresses were fantastic--best of our trip.) Plenty room to park off street, and centrally located to many things to see. We would recommend this home to anyone interested in seeing the Cotswold Hills, and lovely villages with plenty of historical interest. Also Oxford and one of the finest museums we have seen anywhere (the Ashmolean) are just a 30 minute drive away. I wish we had been able to stay longer.

2 couples stayed for 3 nights from Christmas Eve. Cottage was clean and homely with a decorated Christmas tree and welcome pack from the host Vicky.
The bedrooms and bathroom had ample space and were well kitted out.
Kitchen was cosy and well kitted out again. We had brought some extra utensils because of the season (Yorkshire Pudding tray, vegetable peeler etc), which we did need. But everything else was available.
Location of the cottage was ideal. A 5-minute walk from Aldi, 3 minutes from M&S, and a few minutes from multiple pubs in the village. The village itself was picturesque and a short drive from other villages in the Cotswolds.
Would definitely stay again if visiting the area in future.
