It was such a nice cozy place to stay right smack in Ueno Tokyo. Despite the age of the place you can see it’s being well maintained and taken care of by the family running it. The room we stayed in was so comfy and quite spacious for Tokyo and yet it was so much more cost effective than the surrounding hotels. I have to commend the hosts they were incredibly kind and generous people, and I am glad to support their family running business in the heart of Tokyo.

The set up was traditional japanese, comfortable clean and very practical. Location was also great, very close to some key attractions (temples, Ueno park and short walk to near by stations.

Great value for the one week I stayed there. Electric kettle provided. 7 minute walk from Nezu metro station. Coin laundry and dryer available. Helpful staff with room cleaning service available. Small family-owned convenience store nearby.
Room wasn't the cleanest, had a few missed scraps. Ground floor room is right next to stairs and can get noisy in the mornings/evenings, with noisy cars occasionally speeding past adjacent main road outside. Bath was ice cold in midwinter and hot water takes minutes to get running. Quite far from central Ueno station (20 mins walk) and convenience store chains.
