Where to begin? Staying at Okyakuya was the highlight of our Japan trip. A beautiful, historic onsen run by the kindest people. Beautiful location, of course. Wonderful private baths. The special evening meal/dining experience was unbelievable - we were blown away by the quality of the food. They were even able to adapt the meal to a pescatarian diet. We would love to return. Thank you for making our honeymoon unforgettable.

We had a great stay at Okyakuya Ryokan. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Both dinner and breakfast were amazing, and there were alternatives if you didn’t want to try the local horse meat dish. The facilities were excellent, and we really enjoyed the on-site onsen. There were also several other onsens nearby if you wanted to go onsen hopping. Thank you for a wonderful stay! We wish we could have stayed for a few more days!

Lovely ryokan, very friendly staff (took us and our luggage to the bus stop when we checked out)
Nice onsen (especially the one with the parallel bars), they alternate genders so that in one overnight stay you can try all the different baths
The room was big, with a nice view on the trees, very comfortable and clean
Breakfast and dinner were sensational
The location is also really nice

The food was incredible. Carefully selected, refinedly prepared. The service we got during dinner experience was also exceptional, especially from the lady on training, thank you so much. Of the three onsen, two are very nice. One however not so much. Room is clean and spacious, but also aged (stained paper closet doors etc), not befitting for a true japanese-style detail-loving ryokan experience.
One onsen is not really cared for, enclosed in bit plain high walls, almost no plants, dark. Room interiour should be more cared for.
