Proximity to the airport - and the international transfer bus (airport - free, NOT the $9pp charged by hotel for paid transfer). Should have stayed at the Ibis for half the price when we ended up going there to eat and drink as 40% less than Pullman. Go figure.
Paid $$$ for an 'Executive Club Room' with Club access (nothing in there apart from soft drinks, water, coffee machine, limited selection of fruit - no bananas for e.g. - and shortbread cookies. No savoury snacks of any type. oh and two of the daily newspapers). Noting "A curated selection of limited canapés and beverages from 5:00pm to 7:00pm". No kidding! What that actually means is two vouchers for house wine & beer per person that can ONLY be redeemed between 5pm & 7pm - not one second earlier - and a canape platter. As it states "selected". That translated to 2 vegi spring rolls; 2 puffed rice crackers; 2x round crackers with duck; 4 Italian bread sticks (the crispy kind not the actual bread kind); 4 slices salami; 2 half slices of ultra thin, ultra processed ham; 1/4 matchbox-sized square of fetta; one triangle of cheddar 1/3rd of a coon slice-sized; handful of walnuts, 4 dried apricots & 6 apple slices. Seems fair in describing (see pic for actual underwhelm) but THAT is not my idea of 'selected canapes! Not even factoring in that I don't (and never have) eaten meat or duck. At my advanced, age, I have been to many a club lounge but this next level sad. Next time, it will be the Ibis - the $200 saved on the room rate more than makes up for no theoretical club lounge "privilege".
