Located in Bahía Ballena, this lovely house for $490 per night is a great choice for your next trip. Hermosa Retreat is an exclusive escape nestled in the jungle above the famous Playa Hermosa (Uvita). Absolutely stunning views of the Pacific ocean, year-round sunset, and the legendary Whale's tail. All that with the constant ocean breeze flowing through the house. This villa gives you the opportunity to be part of the pristine ecosyatem of costa rica as far as wildlife observation is concerned: toucans, scarlett macaws, white face and howler monkeys, sloths, etc. This villa has 3 generous bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. The living area is perfectly designed for the tropics as it opens up to a large outside terrace with a sofa to relax and lose yourself in this perfect paradise. A great place for yoga and meditation. For the warm afternoon, we have an infinity pool to refresh yourself. The house comes equipped with top-quality amenities and fiber internet (up to 100Mbps). Hermosa Retreat also has a great location. It is located just 15 min south of Dominical and 5 min north of Uvita. It is also 30 min from Quepos airport and 40 min from the famous Manuel Antonio beach and National Park. There is plenty of beautiful beaches, surf, rivers, waterfalls, and restaurants within a short drive (no need for a 4x4). The closest beach is Playa Hermosa - just a 4 min drive from the house. All our villas come with: A concierge service to help you with airport transfer, car rental, private Chef, yoga class or massage by the pool, etc A tour manager to help you organize your outdoor activities and make sure you’re not missing anything in the area.

The views from the outside living space and pool are even better in person. Everyone involved was friendly and very responsive. A little noisy with a new home being built across the street and the main living area can get a little hot. But, I would heartedly recommend this home to everyone. We had a magical week there.

This property was fantastic. Great ocean view from the pool deck with all kinds of wildlife all around. On our last day, a coati came up on the deck looking for food and walked around for 5 minutes while we were relaxing by the pool. Jerome and his team were fantastic and made everything from the airport transfer to the check out go smoothly. I would I highly recommend this villa. We also had the private chef prepare dinner for us on a couple of nights and the food was amazing. I would definitely recommend trying the chef as well. We look forward to coming back here again!

Our family absolutely loved staying at this property. The views are unbeatable and the property itself delivered. It is centrally located to many attractions and dining. The only negative for our stay was there was quite a bit of construction directly below the outdoor patio that was very loud. Management was very helpful and timely as was the concierge. Once the nearby construction is complete, this would be a 5+. Would definitely return.

The house was very nice, very clean, with everything you need for a lovely stay. Jerome was extremely responsive to all our questions and concerns in the months leading up to the trip and during. The water shut off once and someone was there to fix it within 30 minutes. We felt extremely safe while staying there as well. Once we returned from an excursion after dark and a security guard was there at the gate because he said the alarm had been sounding. We never got to the bottom of it since it was still set and the house appeared undisturbed but it was great peace of mind that there was a guard on standby in case something was really wrong.
The house was plenty of space for the size of our family. The view is SPECTACULAR! It’s indescribable, truly! The sunsets and view of The Whale’s Tail were breathtaking. The drive up from the main road is easy. Takes about 3 minutes to be at the house to the bottom of the hill. We did rent a pickup so that helped with the steep climb but no need for a 4x4. The car service we had to and from the airport was terrific. The driver, Paul, was so friendly and spoke great English and answered a lot of questions and gave a lot of information and history about Costa Rica on our drive. Cathleen the tour manager was fantastic in her recommendations and help with setting everything up.
A few things to note:
- The drive from the airport was a bit longer than it says in the listing. It was about an hour longer which Jerome explained can happen for various reasons after I inquired since I was concerned about how early we needed to leave for our trip back. I’m mentioning it because with 3 kids, by the end of the drive and after 2 flights, my two youngest were in tears. It was probably pushing out limits for travel tolerance with the kids as it was but with the added drive delay, it got our trip off to a rocky start. This is not the fault, of course, of the owners but I would recommend changing the description in the listing as up to 4.5 hours from San Jose depending on traffic so people are aware. The trip back in the early morning was closer to 3 hours.
- The pool and house are great but with kids, you definitely want to have your days planned or I think our kids would have gotten bored after a while. We stayed at the house on the first day and day before we left but had excursions on the others.

The view from this house is so spectacular you'll want to spend the day and night floating in the pool. We did in fact do that one day during our stay. Perfect set up for three couples with what is essentially three master bedrooms.
Jerome went above and beyond for us before and during our stay--helping us get the house provisioned for our arrival, coordinating drivers (ask for Paul!) and taxis, arranging a chef to come to the home to cook and serve us dinner (highly recommend) and answering a million questions. He also set us up with Cathleen, who helped us book the most amazing sunset sail and made dinner reservations at restaurants that took our collective breaths away.
It was the perfect spot to explore this beautiful country. The most overused word on this trip for the four of us was..."WOW!"

Upon arrival we let ourselves in with lockbox key and found the house clean and bright. The view was breathtaking of the Whales tail! The kitchen was nicely equipped with everything we needed and more. The pool was clean and refreshing and they pool towels for us! It was just far enough out of town to be quiet but also east to get groceries and have dinner out! We will certainly be back! Thank you

When we booked this online the pictures looked really nice. Well, there is nothing like seeing it with your own eyes! Spectacular!
You will not want to leave the property - it's that good. The house itself is everything you will need for a very comfortable and private stay in the Uvita area. The road access is one of the best we drove on - you do not need a 4x4 to reach the house and at 900 ft. of elevation you get awesome white water, Whale's Tail views, and amazing sunsets. You do not hear the road noise below. You do hear the waves breaking on the beach below for as far as you can see! In the morning you will be greeted by tropical birds, including toucans and macaws, howler monkeys, etc...The property manager, Jerome, was great and helped us in everyway in a very responsive and professional manner. We wouldn't stay anywhere else in the Uvita area! Joe H.

Very close to beaches, restaurants, grocery's stores, etc.
We recommend for romantic trip or for a family vacation.

Great House
The house was great and the view was incredible. Lighting in bathroom could be better. A microwave and dishwasher would make the house even more livable. Somewhat concerned when we saw men with flashlights - called manager and he informed us it was security. Without A/C in main living area...somewhat uncomfortable.

Beautiful retreat with an incredible view
This property was all it promised to be and more. The views were spectacular, and the daily animal visits were a bonus. This area was off the beaten path and quieter but we still found so much to do. The caretaker Jerome is attentive and very helpful. Plenty of good food in the area, and Uvita Info Center very helpful for booking activities. We enjoyed a day at Manuel Antonio, ATV rides, Coffee and Chocolate Tour, plenty of beach options and of course he views of Whale Tales from the house and the morning and evening wildlife visits - we saw Toucan, Monkey, Parrots daily. We will definitely come back to this property and this wonderful country.

Another Amazing Stay
Our second visit to this property, which gets better and better. Manager was very helpful arranging wine and personal chefs on arrival, (highly recommend) and several taxi pickups for dinners which allowed us to enjoy wine and cocktails after dark. Recommendations for dinner at La Parcela where the monkeys arrived right at 5:30 PM were terrific. Owners continue to improve the house with beautiful landscaping. Stay here, views and house are amazing.....

Wonderful Villa with Whale Tail View
We really enjoyed our stay at this comfortable villa with the wonderful view of the Pacific. The pool was the highlight and we ended each day with a dip and a cold drink. There were a few disappointments, however. At this price point, it seems there should be a microwave oven and a dishwasher. More minor dissatisfactions were the lack of lights over the bathroom mirrors and just one small double hook in each bathroom for hanging things. Difficult to hang two bath towels, two wash cloths, and a hand towel on two small hooks! I am guessing this is an investment property and the owner has never stayed here. These are minor problems, though, and I would recommend this villa to anyone.

This is a beautiful home, in a wonderful location. Surrounded by natural beauty. The view is completely spectacular.
The home is clean, beautifully designed and decorated. It is well appointed, with huge windows floor to ceiling overlooking "The Whales Tale", Bellena National Park. The patio is large with views all around, beautiful sunsets every evening. And great stargazing at night.The infinity pool is fabulous. There are three bedrooms each with full bathroom, and privacy, and views.
Nature is all around, sloths, iguana and exotic birds flying and singing all day, especially morning and evening. Just wonderful. Beautiful breezes flow through the house .
The linens are lovely, the beds comfortable, a great laundry with soap
The kitchen is nicely stocked with utensils and pots/pans. There is no microwave (just FYI). We really didn't need one.
The road to town is unpaved, would recommend an SUV, just like most places in Costa Rica. The house is close to gorgeous beaches, Uvita, Dominical and many restaurants and activities. It's an easy 45 minute drive to Manuel Antonio. Great location.
Concierge service is included. Jerome will help you arrange to have your car delivered to the house, transport from San Jose. He responds immediately to any question or concern you may have during your stay.
We can't wait to return to this wonderful home....

Pure Paradise!
We have stayed in many vacation homes, this will forever be the nicest place we have ever stayed. Of course Costa Rica is incredible, but this house! This house is perfection. The pictures do not do it justice. From the moment we walked in, we all gasped at how nice it is, especially when we walked out onto the patio, saw the pool overlooking the jungle and ocean and we were in heaven.
The beds are so comfortable, kitchen full of everything we needed, great lay out of living spaces and the pool is wonderful. We saw toucans every morning, heard the howler monkeys all day, frogs at night.
We traveled with our 4 children - ages 13-21, they all loved it. Plenty of room for all. In the area - we hiked in our little neighborhood and saw lots of wildlife. Superb restaurants in Uvita and Dominical. We went to lots of different beaches, and like the owner, our favorite was 2 min away, Playa Hermosa. Waterfalls in the area, really close to the Whales Tail where we swam and kayaked. Manuel Antonio is only 45 minutes away.
I cannot say enough great things about this property. Excellent location, gorgeous home. We will definitely be back.

We coukdnt be happier with iur stay in Uvita. The hiuse was perfectly appointed, had a sleek modern but comfortable design and the sunsets were epic for lack of a better term.

A true experience of Costa Rica !
If you’re planing a trip to Costa Rica, you must consider renting this villa. This way you will live a true experience of this beautifull country. You have the option of having a private transportation to pick you up at the airport. It’s a 3 1/2 hour drive, but it’s worth it. Johnny the driver is so kind, a few local beer and soft drinks awaits you in the mini van... you can stop by a few places along the trip)
Also, you must consider the private chefs for breakfast and dinner ( a must do option... you make your choice of food and they go buy your grocery ... nothing to do but to relax and enjoy the villa and activities all around). I was surprised how not expensive the food cost us at the end ( 350 $ usd for everything) and we ate tuna, Mahi mahi, shrimps... all that you want. They are also good chefs that prepares very nice plates.
You can also have a rental 4x4 delivered directly to the villa upon your arrival (recommenced if you plan visiting waterfalls and easier to climb to road to the villa... there’s a few bumby roads) Then you can go where ever you want during the day. Everything is closed by and you can plan many activities at the Uvita information center directly or on their website.
Each morning at the villa and before sunset we saw tucans, parrots.. there’s sometime sloths in the trees and you can hear the monkeys close by.
We did a lot of activities... we recommend Corcovado ( we saw many sloths, 3 kinda of monkeys... and we were lucky to have followed a Puma for almost 4 minutes)...scarlet macaws, coatis... blue morphos...
You may then plan to go to Manuel Antonio park ( by your own), waterfalls, beaches close by...
Trust us... a week is not enough, you don’t want to leave this place and lifestyle once you are there.
It is very hot and humid, no need for long sleeves. You will sweat... a lot ;)
The villas owner Greg is very nice and helpfull and also lives close by. You feel safe during all your stay.
Don’t bother booking à all inclusive hotel...You have it all here... adventure, beauty, relaxation... Pura Vida :)

Villa was beautifully constructed, immacualte, and very well appointed. Appreciated AC in bedrooms. Owner is accessible when necessary but respectful of guests privacy.
Spectacular views of the ocean and evening sunsets.
Would highly recommend four wheel drive. Canopy tour outside of Uvita was beautiful with excellent skilled guides.
