We booked this property and paid in full in Feb 2022 for a family Christmas in New York. My worst nightmare realised when the host cancelled our reservation 1 hour from landing at JFK. I was left looking for accommodation for six people, in New York at Christmas!! There is another review of this host cancelling a reservation at the last minute so I would be VERY wary of booking. Peter did help us find another apartment, with a buddy of his, but we’re still fighting for a full refund.

Checked my emails in transit to NYC at Doha only to find our accommodation was cancelled which was extremely stressful. I had to rate the stay in order for my comments to be submitted which is unfair as we did not have the opportunity to stay. Very dissatisfying and stressful not to mention having to try to find funds we did not have for alternative accommodation until we received a refund quite some time later

The night before we were supposed to fly out there, I sent the owners an email asking for parking instructions. At 10:30pm, they respond and told me that they are “sorry about not contacting me sooner” but they are cancelling my reservation because they “just found out” that their “father has terminal cancer” and they need to use the space. Had I not sent that parking inquiry email, I would have shown up with my family of 6 (including children) with no place to stay. Interestingly, the unit was never marked off as unavailable AFTER my dates— just during my stay of Mar 23 to 27. As of right now(Mar 27), the unit is still marked as completely available for the next 2 months. Now I hate to sound callous, but assuming this story of theirs is true, I don’t see how my 3 day stay was going to impact the relatives ability to see him given that they “just found out”. No place else to put your visiting relatives? How about your house? Or one of the OTHER two units that you own? Or another VRBO? Or better yet, couldn't they stay in a hotel for the whole entire 3 days that we would be there? The only reason I’m dubious about this story is because if you look at their other listing “See New York Now” (Property# 43221855ha) and "Stunning Empire State Views" (Property#4425476ha), you will see reviews where they cancelled other people at the last minute. I counted about 5 instances of them cancelling at the last minute. And other reviews citing poor communication due to unexplained personal issues that the owners were having. Due to having children with us, we ended up scrambling when we landed,, to find a hotel that had connecting rooms (because the hotels won’t let you put 6 people into one room). We ended up staying 15 miles away from where we wanted to be. I usually like to assume the best in people. But given the past reviews (and apparent current availability of the unit), I would suggest avoiding this unit and these owners. Unless you enjoy searching for hotels in the middle of the night.

I cannot recommend this property enough!! The apartment is beautiful, and the NYC skyline view is absolutely breathtaking. 100 times better then the photos, and description. Peter was in the lot the day we arrived. He stood there with us for a good 30 minutes telling us about the area, best ways into NYC, transportation schedules, which restaurants were the best, and even got a little history about how the property evolved into apartments. I loved the unit. Patricia did a wonderful job decorating, and making it feel very homey. Was clean, and cozy. Had everything needed from shampoo to trash bags. We were very impressed. Immediately felt like home. It is a very quiet location. I highly recommend paying for the private parking offered as parking can be tricky. I couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. We will absolutely be back. Thank you for the hospitality. Wish I could rate more then 5 stars!

With Covid and everything happening this year, it was hard for me and my close friends to find anything to do for New Years Eve. This place was PERFECT. It was so clean and spacious. There was room for everyone to sleep comfortably. The hosts were beyond generous. I would 100% stay here again!
