The hotel was gorgeous and felt like a fancy resort, the rooms were large and the bed was genuinely massive which was incredible. We didn't make use of the pool because we were out and about but it looked lovely. The rooms was big and clean.
the staff weren't overly helpful - I'm not sure if things were lost in translation but the communication could have been better. Nothing to complain about really, but if I had to nit pick

Great value for money. Good location and breakfast was good. We enjoyed our stay.
The bathroom was a little smelly but not unbearable.

Our room was actually quite nice. I think it was a deluxe double. I like the decor, traditional Thai modern. It faced the inner courtyard, where the pool is.
Everywhere I look there were little signs of deferred maintenance and neglect. Cracks in the tile. Wear and tear on the wood furniture, Some odd aspects of our bathroom. Astro turf around the pool. I also am not the kind of traveler who likes to stay in touristy parts of a city. And in the immediate vicinity of the hotel it was almost 100% tourists. Also, the hotel in the form of toward the last minute that we were being downgraded from our original reservation. They were polite about it, but when they got there they informed us that our son's room did not come with the free breakfast. That annoyed me, I thought that given the change in our reservation they could have at least let him have breakfast.
