Great location. Parking opposite payed at hotel. Renovated rooms were pleasant, bed in corner suite was great, although the beds in the double room were a little hard. Staff were very nice, large breakfast offering but turn up early as it’s not always replenished.
Our first unrenovated room smelled quite bad of mould and deodorisers didn’t help. Staff were great and changed our room the next day. Breakfast was ok but the scrambled eggs was like goop and could have been cooked more.

Kurashiki Royal Art Hotel is truly fit for royalty. My room was exceptionally spacious at approximately 40 square metres and featured luxurious touches such as a separate bath and shower booth - set against floor-to-ceiling marble walls, a deep sink, a walk-in closet, and elegant antique lamps that added charm and character to the space. Despite what appeared to be a fully occupied floor, my room was remarkably quiet. I enjoyed an excellent night's sleep and was never disturbed by neighbouring guests.
The breakfast buffet offered a good selection of both Western and Japanese dishes, providing more than enough variety to start the day.
The location is another major advantage, being just a block away from the beautiful Bikan Historical Quarter. While the hotel may not be the newest property in town, its age is part of its appeal. Like a fine vintage wine, it is grounded, sturdy, and mature, offering a sense of timeless elegance that many modern hotels lack.
I stayed in room 806 for three nights in June 2026.

The location of the hotel is just a short 10 minute walk from the train & bus station. Mere minutes to visit the Bikan historical quarter and art galleries.
The staff were superb and the hotel itself delightful.
