Cottage Morinokage is the best place for exploring Yakushima Island. We booked two cottages. One was roomy with a kitchenette and one was cozy with a loft bed. With a car we were able to explore so many places. The cottages are between Anbou, which has beautiful dinner spots & Miyanora which has a great supermarket. The host & cleaners are lovely. Everything is well organised & there is a free laundry. Milo the dog is a bonus! If you are thinking of visiting Yakushima just do it, words don’t do this island justice, the feeling is visceral. And if you are visiting Yakushima, this place is perfect.

It is a good location, not too far from any highlights of Yakushima. I liked also that the owner was friendly, thoughtful about conveniences (free laundry!) and that the cottages were ecologically mindful yet with surprisingly comfortable amenities.
Nothing in particular, but keep in mind that this is essentially a Glamp so be comfortable with some insects and some slight discomforts that come from staying close to the wild. If comfort is crucial for you, pick a nearby ryokan. This place is good for hikers and active tourists.

The Morinokokage Cottage ist beautifully located. Surrounded by nature and mountain peaks you can really relax. The host is very warm and welcoming. He speaks English very well so you don't need to worry. Plus, you have everything you need (laundry, snack vending machine etc.) on site. The room was spacious and lovely decorated. There ist a parking space right next to it (definitely reccommand a rental car on Yakushima). We ordered homemade breakfast which was exceptional!

We love it here and look forward to returning next year with our parents. This is our home away from home in Yakushima. We would not stay anywhere else! ❤️ Kindest people and Best place ever!
