Situated in Outer Banks, this lovely house for $275 per night is a great choice for your next vacation. Welcome to Better Surf Than Sorry! The name says it all. Are you ready for your dream vacation? Well look no further. This beach house has everything you will need for an unforgettable beach escape. 4 bedrooms, 3.5 baths (1 of which is handicap accessible), elevator, outside shower, hot tub (that seats 6), Solar Heated Pool (May through October - No guarantee on water temp during early May and after Mid-September), and a basketball goal. The game room has a Puck Hole table (like shuffleboard), full size foosball table, refrigerator, and a wet bar. The main living area has loads of board games, jigsaw puzzles, DVDs, and books. Each bedroom has its own Joey (that runs off the Hopper 3 system), so everyone can watch whatever they want at any time. If you have Netflix or Amazon, you can log on under your name and watch your favorites. It’s just a short walk to a semi-private beach (neighborhood access only). In 2015 Cape Hatteras was voted #5 on Top 10 U.S. beaches. The back decks overlook a large lake full of wildlife and nice distant view of the sound. You will have unforgettable sunset views and starting late in the day you’ll be amazed at the symphony that all the little critters in the lake produce. Finally, why pay extra or have to upgrade to a “Gold” rental to have sheets and linens? They are included in our price. So whether it is a week or more for a relaxing vacation or couple day’s getaway you won’t regret Better Surf than Sorry. * House is located in quiet neighborhood with close proximity to Sound and Ocean access to world class kite boarding and surfing spots. On the East Coast, the best place for surf is on the Outer Banks, and this region is renowned as one of the best surfing destinations from New York to Florida. There are a number of other water sports on the Outer Banks, including hang gliding, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, surf and pier fishing, and crabbing. Also close by are Bodie Island and Cape Hatteras light houses, several piers, museums, marinas, quaint little shops and excellent restaurants. The Space: This beautiful home with private solar heated pool (May through October) and just minutes to the ocean is normally rented for full weeks only from June to September. Along with the 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths you have an elevator, outside shower, hot tub (that seats 7), private solar heated pool (solar heating only runs from May through October), Game room with a Puck Hole table (like shuffleboard), full size foosball table, refrigerator, and wet bar. In the main living area, there are lots of board games, jigsaw puzzles, DVDs, and books. Outside there is a basketball goal. It’s just a short walk to a semi-private beach (neighborhood access only). The place was great and it was just a short walk to the beach itself. Would stay there again if I was going to be in that area. Thankyou Chris for letting us stay it definitely was too short of a stay!!

The pictures do not do this house justice; it is larger than it appears and was comfortable for nine total people (four adults, five children). This was our third trip to OBX and this was the cleanest, most well maintained property we’ve stayed at by far. Beach access is close. Quiet, dead end. We would make this our go-to for our annual family trip except it is already booked up most of next year’s season.

This house met all of our needs. Everyone enjoyed the vacation! It was nice to be back for a vacation in OBX, after a 3 year hiatus! It was wonderful that the pool was heated(you never know the weather) and that there wasn't any additional charge. The only complaint (which there is nothing you can do about) is the dune that you have to go over! The home is located in a very quiet neighborhood, and the view of the pond offers a relaxing feeling.

We had a great week at this property. The house has a little west and rear but overall it was a great experience. We like the pool and hot tub. It was a close walk to the beach but could be difficult for some with mobility issues. We were able to make our way over the dune easily. Everything was working and house was clean. Check in was easy. Lots of games and movies to watch on rainy days. I would stay again.

I traveled from Missouri to rent this house for a mother's day trip for my family. While there were a few cleanliness issues, and the hot tub unfortunately broke during our stay the host was always super communicative and helpful in finding a resolution. Will be staying again.

Check in was great. A few minor flaws but nothing major. I would highly recommend this place for a great vacation. Plenty of room and great location. All of us had a great time and plan on returning next year.

This home had everything we needed. The beds were comfy, the kitchen is fully stocked, the pool and hot tub are awesome, and the walk is short to the beach. The property owner was quick to respond to questions, and we had an absolutely wonderful week. We would love to come back to this home!

Great location and home!
The location of this home was perfect! The view of the water and watching wildlife drinking morning coffee was amazing. When we arrived the hot tub was green and dirty but the pool man was there the next morning and cleaned and refilled it. We had an awesome week and loved the house!

Honeymoon Getaway!
Booked for our honeymoon, and we really enjoyed "Better Surf than Sorry" - elevator was incredibly helpful for bringing everything inside! Great check-in process and instructions from owner, too chilly to use pool but had wonderful views of pond behind house from top porch. Sad we had to leave!

Property is nice and well stocked. Short walk to the beach. You do have to go over a sand dune and if you have medical conditions that limit your walking then this might be difficult to do. Owner told us ahead of time that there were issues with the hot tub so that was expected. One issue we had was with the TVs. The tv in the living eon worked fine, but all other tvs could not connect to the hopper system. We spent 2 hours on the phone with Dish and were told that this was reported the previous week by the guest prior to us, and they were told a technician would need to come out. When I notified the owner he said this was the first he heard of it. Not sure if there was a miscommunication with the previous guest and the owner. Unfortunately, Dish could not get a tech out until the day after we left, so we spent the whole week with just one tv. We had 6 people in our group and everyone wanted to watch something different, so it created some difficulties. This may not be a big deal to others, but it was an issue for us. Other than that, communication with the owner was great… he responded quickly to any inquiries.

Chris was great to rent from, very responsive and wanted to make sure we enjoyed our stay and had what we needed. I considered this rental to be packed with value, it was the right price point for everything the home offered including location (close to the beach), home layout, and the kitchen (we lean towards cooking all our dinners and eating together) and living area were great. Eight of us stayed the week and everyone was comfortable. I really appreciated how the decking was treated, it was my first trip to OBX where I did not have to pull a splinter due to beat up decking. The kids loved the pool, hot tub, game room, and even the color of the house! It is not a new home, but Chris has clearly improved it, and offers it at the right rental rate. I would rent here again and recommend it to others.

Great place to stay in OBX!
Chris was great to rent from, very responsive and wanted to make sure we enjoyed our stay and had what we needed. Great location
This property is a good location. Short walk to beach. Bring sand shoes. You need to walk over a dune and the sand burnt my foot. The beach is not crowded and very nice. Communication with the owner was easy. Unfortunately, the house was not as I expected. Many things need updated. It felt old not clean. The cabinet doors still had food marks around handles. The coffee pot to three runs of water to clean out. The toaster had to be cleaned before using it. The pot selection was not enough to cook proper meals. I actually walked across to $ General to get a frying pan bc the one in the house was so gross. By the time I got back my husband had cleaned it to a semi usable state. Our mattress cover had blood stains. My son's sheet (you put them on yourself) was dirty when he went to put it on. The clean sheets are stained. Carpets are very stained. The gas grill was unusable. Hot tub is broken. Even the chairs at the pool - the bottom of the legs are rusted off. The property upkeep was not as expected.

Great Location
My family does a trip to OBX every year around the 4th of July. We had a great time at Better Surf Than Sorry. It was a great house to share with family - plenty of space, plenty to do, very close to a private/gorgeous beach, and a great pool for all to enjoy. We also loved the town and surrounding area. Communication with the property manager was excellent. Overall, we had a great stay.

Great spot!
I live in VA Beach and had some friends from California stop here while on a road trip. The house was super close to the 4X4 beach access 5 min away which was great for driving out and watching the sunrise. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking our meals and the living room was a great setup for playing any of the games the property had to offer!

I searched and searched for a place to stay for our family vacation. With such short notice, I had a feeling if I found a place it would be horrible. I was so incredibly wrong, I recommend this house to anyone looking to take a relaxing vacation. The rooms were spacious, TV's in all rooms, the bathrooms were clean and perfect size. It was a little cool to be in the amazing pool however the hot tub worked out so much better. It's in a nice quiet neighborhood and just a short walk to the beach. The dollar general is a quick 5-minute drive (or you could walk - yes it's that close). Mr. Dreelin is so nice and responds very quickly. Unfortunately, we choose a time when mother nature wanted to flood roads and limit out time outside of the house and Mr. Dreelin stayed in constant contact checking us. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Girls weekend
This property was great for our girls’ weekend. Hot tub, pool and proximity to beach was nice when weather cooperated (always a gamble in September). We had one rainy evening where we went to dinner, played games inside the house and still enjoyed the hot tub. We didn’t use the electronics but the WiFi worked well. Owner was responsive when we had questions or wanted to make him aware of anything we observed. I would stay here again.

Beautiful location!
This house was huge with a pool and a hot tub. The walk to the beach isn't long, but it is hard to climb over the dunes with a beach cart! Salvo is beautiful, and we basically had a gorgeous beach to ourselves. The only thing we didn't like about the house was the bugs! We found several large bugs in the house that made us jumpy throughout the week, but otherwise we loved it! Be sure to get the hurricane insurance!

Perfect for a three-generation get-away
After being apart since March, a week at "Better Surf Than Sorry" provided a perfect pandemic get-away for ourselves, one of our adult sons and his wife, and their three children. Coming from Maryland, where beaches are crowded and folks often not respectful of the safety of others, we were delighted to find the Salvo beach sparsely populated, with everyone being very attuned to the need for social distancing. The walk from the house to the beach is a short one--always a consideration when children are involved--and it was easy to bring all our gear to the shoreline each day. The children made regular use of the pool (tip: bring your own pool toys, as we did) and it was a great spot to kick back and relax while watching them frolic.
The house is very spacious and well-laid out, so that we (the grandparents) had the master suite on the upper floor while everyone else occupied the 3 bedrooms on the main floor.
There were lots of unexpected but very welcome touches, including a second refrigerator (needed for 7 people who didn't want to have to go into any stores all week), all sorts of kitchen equipment that allowed us to cook/bake whatever we wanted, and lots of CDs, puzzles and games (though we did not wind up using these as we brought lots of things to entertain the children). If/when we return to OBX, we'd happily return to this rental property.
